While the folks attending Comic Con 2018 are dancing up a storm at all the parties in San Diego while others are at the annual Masquerade, there was a LOT of panels – focusing on TV shows and box office movies – to take a look at for Day Three.
Black Lightning (The CW)
The Good Place (NBC)
The series’ morning panel at the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom was standing room only with a line stretching outside the hotel before it started; and the panel closed with a two-minute tease of the first episode. (Chris Barton from LA Times)
Krypton (Syfy)
DC Comics villain Lobo will be the “big bad” in season two. Lobo is from the peaceful planet of Czarnia, born a devil in the midst of utopia. Loosely translated from his native language, his name means “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it.” As a teenager, he single-handedly slaughtered his entire civilization, becoming the last of his race. Now the mercenary roams the universe on his motorcycle, getting paid for what he loves most: murder and mayhem. (Denise Petski at Deadline)
Manifest (NBC)
When Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. Yet in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years and their friends, families and colleagues, after mourning their loss, had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they’re all given a second chance. But as their new realities become clear, a deeper mystery unfolds and some of the returned passengers soon realize they may be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible.
Legacies (The CW)
The spin-off series of The Originals tells the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. It’s here that Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson; Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman; and other young adults – including political scion MG and the mysterious Landon Kirby – come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves… in spite of their worst impulses. Will these young witches, vampires and werewolves become the heroes they want to be – or the villains they were born to be? As they fight to protect their secret, their town of Mystic Falls and eventually the world, they will have to rely on ancient folklore and tales to learn how to battle their far-reaching enemies.
The Gifted (FOX)
Midnight, Texas (NBC)
In season two, a new, seemingly benign element presents itself. A company has bought the town’s old hotel and is going to renovate it to make Midnight a tourist destination. After becoming temporarily possessed last season, Manfred is still feeling the lingering effects in a surprising way. Olivia and Lem’s marriage is off to a sexy start because now that she’s shared his blood, there’s a psychic bond between them. Fiji and Bobo, they new lovebirds, have clearly been practicing and have a strange side effect of her magic: when they make love, they float. Joe (the Angel) meets the demon-hunting gay cowboy Walker, who may turn that angel’s head. And, a banshee will be hitting town and there might be some pint-sized Midnighters in town too. Supergirl (The CW)
The Orville (FOX)
Arrow (The CW)
The Man in the High Castle (Amazon)
Season 3 will Juliana Crain and Trade Minister Tagomi as they work together to interpret the last of the remaining films. Returning from Berlin, Joe Blake is sent on a diplomatic mission to San Francisco and Helen works to protect her family following the aftermath of the previous season. Jason O’Mara has joined as a series regular, playing Wyatt Price, a hustler in the Neutral Zone whose family immigrated from Europe to New York to escape the war. (Michael Koczwara at IGN)
Legends of Tomorrow (The CW)
The Flash (The CW)
Deadly Class (Syfy)
Set in a dark, comic book world against the backdrop of late 1980’s counter culture, the series follows a homeless teen recruited into a storied elite private school where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.
The Magicians (Syfy)
The Darkest Minds
Fantastic Beasts 2
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Lego Movie 2
Here is a link to the Lego Movie 2 trailer.
Shazam!
Aquaman
Wonder Woman 1984
Chris Pine quashed any hopes that he’d reveal how his character could still be alive for the sequel when it had appeared that he’d met his death. “It’s something I’m super excited for everybody to see,” said Director Patty Jenkins. “[Chris] is a very important part of our movie.” There was footage shown during the panel – but not made available [as yet] online – that showed Wonder Woman flying into a mall and rescuing a young girl while taking out some gun-toting thugs. The Roz Report
The highlights for Roz included the press for NBC’s new show Manifest, which Josh Dallas described as Lost meets This is Us.
The Gifted panel was also great with a sneak peek at season two, some great fan questions and even a good look at how the show decides which mutants to include.
Lastly Roz attended a small party for her friend’s podcast Fansplaining where she met Alexa Donne, who just published Burning Brightly, a YA Jane Eyre in Space.
More coming soon…
