Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:
On June 19, the documentary Black Barbie will debut online on Netflix. The documentary celebrates the momentous impact three Black women at Mattel had on the evolution of the Barbie brand as we know it. Through these charismatic insiders’ stories, the documentary tells the story of how the first Black Barbie came to be in 1980, examining the importance of representation and how dolls can be crucial to the formation of identity and imagination.
The finale of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School (the new title of the show for its sophomore season) will air online on Max on June 20.
On June 21, the Netflix movie Trigger Warning will debut online. Special Forces commando Parker (Jessica Alba) is on active duty overseas when she gets called back to her hometown with the tragic news that her father has suddenly died. Now the owner of the family bar, Parker reconnects with her former boyfriend, who is now the sheriff, Jesse (Mark Webber), his hot-tempered brother Elvis (Jake Weary) and their powerful father Senator Swann (Anthony Michael Hall), as she looks to understand what actually happened to her dad. Parker’s search for answers quickly goes south, and she soon finds herself at odds with a violent gang running rampant in her hometown. Unsure of who she can truly trust, Parker draws on her commando training and proves herself a force to be reckoned with as she hunts down the truth and attempts to right what has gone wrong in Swann County with the help of her covert ops partner and hacker Spider (Tone Bell) and connected local dealer Mike (Gabriel Basso).
The Hallmark Channel movie Two Scoops of Italy will debut on June 22 at 8 PM. When an American chef (Hunter King) travels to a quaint village in Italy for inspiration, she falls in love with the flavors, culture, gelato, and the Italian gentleman (Michele Rosiello) who helps her discover it all.
On June 23, the finale of When Calls the Heart will air on the Hallmark Channel at 9 PM; while on that same night, the finale of Billy the Kid will air on MGM+ at 9 PM.
The new sequel series Orphan Black: Echoes will debut online on June 23 on AMC+ as well as on AMC and BBC America at 10 PM. The series follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal. Krysten Ritter plays Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world. The cast includes Keeley Hawes, Avan Jogia, Rya Kihlstedt and James Hiroyuki Liao.
Lastly also on June 23, the UPtv movie Discovering Love will debut at 7 PM. An archeology professor must team up with a dig-first-ask-questions-later treasure hunter to find the long-lost crown of Helen of Troy. The cast includes Liliana Tandon, Tim Rogan, Cheri Oteri and Louis Mandylor.
