TELEVISION

WE TV has cancelled their first original scripted series The Divide. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Actor Adam Rodriguez (CSI: Miami) will have a recurring role on the NBC medical drama The Night Shift, which will be back for its second season sometime next year. He will play Dr. Joey Chavez, the newly hired night call trauma surgeon at San Antonio Memorial Hospital. He is an Air Force vet that served in Iraq whose personal experiences have led him to investigate his cases with an Eastern medicine perspective. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Actress Kelly Reilly (Black Box and the Sherlock Holmes movies) and actor Michael Irby (Almost Human and The Unit) have landed series regular roles on the HBO drama True Detective for its second season. Meanwhile, actresses Abigail Spencer (Suits) and Leven Rambin (The Tomorrow People and The Hunger Games) will have recurring roles in the series that will star Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch. The story revolves around three police officers and a career criminal who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. (Sydney Bucksbaum at E! Online)

MINI-SERIES NEWS

AMC will air the John le Carre small screen adaptation of The Night Manager as a 6- to 8-part mini-series that will star Hugh Laurie (House) and Tom Hiddleston (Thor/Avengers films). Hiddleston will play former British soldier Jonathan Pine, now a hotel night auditor, who is pitted against Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie), a black market dealer. Q&A SECTION (with Natalie Abrams at Entertainment Weekly)

Question: Can you offer up any scoop on Scandal? — Jen

Natalie: Plenty of familiar faces will make an appearance in the mid-season finale, but one guest star will shock all. I can’t divulge the identity of said person, I can say you will be surprised by his or her return.

Question: I’ll admit that I’m happy that Tom Keen is still alive on The Blacklist, but why the heck would Liz keep him alive? — Tanya

Natalie: I’ll let Megan Boone take this one: “She decided to keep Tom alive because it was in a misguided effort to reclaim her dignity and her power,” she says. “She was so mislead by him. Ultimately, she was made a fool. There will be suggestions in upcoming episodes that she may still have feelings for him, but these are not simple acts of trying to rekindle a romance. She held him prisoner for months and denies him medical care and proper nutrients and everything. This is something much more complicated. It has much more to do with ego than heart.”

Question: Any details on the upcoming Castle wedding? — Tara

Natalie: When Castle finds himself in an alternate universe where Beckett doesn’t know him, it makes him realize what’s truly important. But don’t worry: They tie the knot in real life, not the alternate universe. So rest assured that this is actually happening. “[The ceremony] isn’t going to be like their last wedding,” executive producer David Amann says. “It comes together in a slightly more hasty fashion. But that being said, it’s incredibly romantic and moving, and I think the fans are really going to feel like it’s the culmination of 6-plus seasons of this relationship.”

Question: Can you tell us ANYTHING about Supernatural’s 200th episode, other than it being “musical-ish”? — Danielle

Natalie: As most of you know by now, the 200th is all about the fans, who will be putting on a show of the Carver Edlund books during the episode. “Meta-fans are kind of saluting Sam and Dean, which allows them to kind of salute back,” Jared Padalecki explains. Adds Jensen Ackles: “It’s walking into a theater and seeing your life in pictures before you, but it’s from the perspective of the fans of the series.” Perhaps the most intriguing tease is this Ackles claim: “[Jared] and I are the only men in the whole episode, save one person.” Please let it be Chuck. Please let it be Chuck.

Question: The Snow Queen was Emma’s foster mom on Once Upon a Time?! — Michelle

Natalie: Crazy, right? The show will delve further into their relationship in the past soon. “She’s been looking for [Emma],” Elizabeth Mitchell teases, cautioning that an incident will drive an obvious wedge between the two—hence Emma not remembering her former foster mom. In the present, “we will absolutely get into how she landed [in Storybrooke],” Mitchell promises.

Question: What’s next for Clarke on The 100? — Brynn

Natalie: After discovering Anya (Dichen Lachman) was being held prisoner by the Mountain Men—they’re using Grounder blood to cure their ailments—Clarke will suspect they were “saved” for similar reasons. “It’s all about getting the hell out of there,” Eliza Taylor tells me. “Clarke will do almost anything to do that. The episode is her and Anya begrudgingly having to team up to get to safety. They work together terribly. Now that she’s escaping, what she’s thinking about is how to get the other 47 kids out of there.” That won’t be easy, since Anya has other plans if and when they do get out.

The Hallmark Channel has renewed Cedar Cove for a third season. (The Futon Critic)

Syfy has announced the cast for their upcoming 10-episode space drama The Expanse, based on the James S.A. Corey series of novels, is set 200 years in the future, following the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history. The cast includes Dominique Tipper (Vampire Academy), Cas Anvar (Olympus), and Wes Chatham (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) as well as Thomas Jane (Hung) and Shohreh Aghdashloo (24 and Revolution. Additionally, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), Paulo Costanzo (Royal Pains) and Jay Hernandez (Nashville) will appear as guest stars. (Denise Petski at Deadline)

Actress Hayley Kiyoko (The Fosters) has joined the cast of the upcoming CBS spin-off CSI: Cyber, joining series regular Patricia Arquette (Medium) and James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek). The show centers on Special Agent Avery Ryan (Arquette), who heads the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI, a unit at the forefront of solving illegal activities that start in the mind, live online, and play out in the real world. Question: Is Juliette going to be OK on Nashville? — Meg

Adam: Yes, if Noah (Derek Hough) has anything to do with it. Wednesday’s episode will pick up moments after Juliette collapsed in his arms, with Noah “trying to take care of her and look after her,” Hough says. Noah will also go to great lengths to keep Juliette’s baby news hush-hush from everyone else. “He wants her to know that she can trust him, so he’s gonna try to keep it on the down-low,” the Dancing with the Stars pro says. “But that’s easier said than done.”

Question: I’m worried about Lincoln on The 100. Please tell me he’ll be OK! — Lyla

Adam: Unfortunately, it sounds like you’ll soon have even more reason to worry. “Episode 3 ends with Lincoln getting reaped into the mountain and tagged for the Cerberus project,” creator Jason Rothenberg says, noting the name of the project is a clue to its intentions. For those not up on their Greek mythology, Cerberus is a three-headed dog who guards the exit to the underworld. But what exactly could the Reapers and Mountain Men be guarding?

Question: I can’t believe it’s only a few weeks until White Collar’s final season! What can you tease? — Jason

Adam: There will be a bit of role reversal during the show’s final run when it is revealed that Peter, not Neal, is keeping a big secret from everyone. And despite Neal’s skills at learning top-secret intel, he actually won’t be the first person to find out what Peter is hiding.

Question: Do you have any scoop on Castle Episode 8? —Jess

Ausiello: Titled “Kill Switch,” the episode revolves around a routine investigation that turns deadly when a gunman takes hostages on a subway car — including one of the 12th’s finest.

BONUS SCOOP: Married with Children‘s Ted McGinley is set to guest-star in Episode 9’s Expendables riff as Brock Harmon, an aging, larger-than-life B-movie action vet (and the husband of the recently cast Krista Allen). The ep revolves around the murder of a Stallone-like movie star.

Question: On Once Upon a Time, is Emma going to help out Henry and Regina with Operation Mongoose? —Dee

Ausiello: Probably not until the 12-episode Frozen arc is over, at earliest. As Jennifer Morrison shared during our set visit, “I’m sure we’ll get around to it eventually, but that storyline right now is separate from ours [and] there’s only so much overlap that can happen before there’s just too much going on. But I’m sure that in the second half of the season, we’ll all have some kind of participation in that.”

Question: Any twists and turns coming up for the Charmings (apart from the baby) on OUAT? —Jenny

Ausiello: There’s a “pretty nasty” development coming, one with far-reaching consequences, teases Josh Dallas, who adds, “There’s something on its way that definitely affects everyone in Storybrooke — and the Charmings, for sure. It creates some weird things within their relationship. I can’t tell you any more.” No worries, JD. You’ve already told us more than enough.

Question: I figure if anyone knows what Sleepy Hollow‘s Ichabod is going to sing at karaoke, it’ll be you. —Erin

Ausiello: You’re right, Erin. I know exactly what Crane’s going to cue up when the Fox drama has him and Abbie hit a karaoke bar, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy. However, I can tell you that he commits to the performance, and Abbie — like a good pal — wholeheartedly cheers her fellow Witness on.

Question: Is Greer really going through with her wedding to Castleroy on Reign? They can’t do that to Leith! — Ashleigh

Ausiello: Oh they can, Ashleigh… but will they? We do know a few things for sure: Greer will be slipping into a wedding dress this Thursday, and her former lover will have a front-row seat to the action. “In some capacity, I will be at Greer’s wedding,” Jonathan Keltz (aka Leith) teases. But he also urges us not to jump to conclusions, saying that, “Just because you saw a picture of Greer in a wedding dress, that doesn’t mean you know what’s going to happen.” Do we think Leith will speak up?

Question: White Collar’s Willie Garson tweeted a photo from the Hawaii Five-0 set. Any details on what he’s up to? —Claire

Ausiello: Stop me if this sounds “familiar” to White Collar fans, but Garson is guest-starring in Episode 11 — the same one as Lost alum Rebecca Mader — as Blume, a highly respected art appraiser with (ahem) black market connections. And as one might infer from the tweeted photo, Blume is quite smitten with Kono.

Question: I would love any spoilers you have about Arrow, specifically Laurel-Oliver. —Alannah

Ausiello: If I’m hearing you correctly, you’d like some “Olicity” scoop. (Kidding! I made a funny!) Oliver will soon find out that Laurel is training with Ted Grant, much to his dismay. “The dynamic has been very adversarial” between the former lovers, Stephen Amell shares. “What she wants and what he’s prepared to reciprocate are at odds with one another, and that carries through the fall.” There’s also the fact that he’s not thrilled that she’s keeping Sara’s death hidden from Captain Lance. However, “it is Laurel’s decision, it is not Oliver’s,” Amell concedes. “And he’s not gonna step on that. He has the ability to disagree without taking matters into his own hands.”

Question: Any information on The 100? Maybe about when the reunion between The Ark adults and the remaining 100 (48) will happen? —Isabella

Ausiello: When the two groups do eventually reunite, the adults will need to listen to the kids if they want to stay alive. “We actually have a lot of good information that can help with the survival of our people,” Marie Avgeropoulos explains. “We know how this has been going and what dangers lie on the other sides of our gates.” And if/when they don’t heed The 100’s advice, the Ark survivors will “get what’s coming and they’ll learn the hard way, too. You’ll see a lot of that in Season 2.”

Question: I’ll go as a Smurf or you for Halloween if you give me scoop on one of my DC faves on television now. What can you tell me about Gotham, The Flash, or Arrow? —Anand

Ausiello: Flash it is! Iris’ obsession with the Red Streak is “definitely a point of tension” in her relationship with Eddie, Rick Cosnett says. “What’s happening with that, how she’s investigating it, how he reacts to it and how it affects their dynamic is quite a big point of contention.” Another issue: The detective is starting to clue into Barry’s feelings for his girlfriend. “Eddie starts to get the impression that there is more than meets the eye, at least with Barry, and he will confront Iris about that,” Candice Patton teases.

Question: I’m desperate for a big juicy Sam-centric Supernatural spoiler. —Kira

Ausiello: Can I give you a mildly-juicy Cas tidbit instead? Crowley may have replenished his grace, but the angel still has plenty of problems. “He’s going to be at something of a crossroads,” executive producer Jeremy Carver previews, “deciding what’s most important to him and what’s most important about the mission that he was sent here to do — and what that’s come to mean these days. It’s going to lead him on a pretty personal, pretty powerful journey.”
