On February 3, the new Apple TV+ drama Dear Edward will debut online.

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Ann Napolitano, the series is a heartbreaking, life-affirming and uplifting story about survival, resilience, connection and the examination of what makes us human.

The ensemble cast includes Taylor Schilling, Connie Britton, Amy Forsyth and Maxwell Jenkins [among others].

Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On January 30, the new thriller series The Watchful Eye will debut on Freeform at 9 PM with a new episode also airing at 10 PM, the show’s regular timeslot. The series follows Elena Santos (Mariel Molino), a young woman with a complicated past, maneuvering her way into working as a live-in nanny for an affluent family in Manhattan. She quickly learns that everyone in the mysterious building has deadly secrets and ulterior motives. What they don’t know, however, is that Elena has some shocking secrets of her own. The series also stars Amy Acker, Warren Christie, Kelly Bishop and Jon-Michael Ecker.

La Brea will return to NBC with new episodes starting tonight, airing back-to-back episodes on January 31 at 9 and 10 PM.

On February 1, the new sci-fi series The Ark will debut on Syfy at 10 PM. Created by Dean Devlin (Leverage and Leverage: Redemption), the series takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One encounters a catastrophic event causing massive destruction and loss of life. Professional caterer Goldy Berry (Nikki DeLoach) throws a lavish barbeque event for her childhood friend, acclaimed realtor Susie Craig. Later that night, she is shocked to discover that after the event concluded, Susie’s grill exploded and killed her. Goldy’s professional reputation is put under fire when people realize that she was the last one to use the grill. On a mission to clear her name, Goldy teams up once again with detective Tom Schultz (Andrew Walker) to figure out who was behind this mysterious explosion.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

Netflix has given a second season renewal to The Recruit. (TV Line)

HBO Max is pulling the plug on both Titans and Doom Patrol. Both shows will come to an end when their respective fourth seasons wrap up later this year. (Deadline and TV Line)

HBO has given a second season renewal to The Last of Us. (TV Line)

Disney+ has pulled the plug on The Mysterious Benedict Society after two seasons. (TV Line)

TV CASTING NEWS

HBO is developing a limited series based on the Leila Slimani novel The Perfect Nanny. The series, created and written by Maya Erskine, who will also star alongside Nicole Kidman. They will both be executive producers. The series follows a seemingly perfect nanny, who goes to work for a couple with two young children, but her helpful personality eventually deteriorates into something sinister. (Variety)

Adelaide Kane (Grey’s Anatomy and Reign) has joined the cast of the upcoming season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but no details are available on what role she will be playing. (Daily Star Trek News)

Lance Reddick and Toby Stephens have joined the cast of the upcoming small screen adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which will air at Disney+. Reddick will play Zeus and Stephens will play Poseidon. (Variety)

Jack Ryan alum Michael Kelly will have a recurring role in the upcoming Paramount+ series Lioness that already includes among its cast Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman and Jill Wagner. He will play CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Real-life married couple Bill Camp (The Queen’s Gambit) and Elizabeth Marvel (The Dropout) will star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga in the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series Presumed Innocent, which is inspired by the Scott Turow courtroom thriller. The series will focus on the horrific murder that upended the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when one of its own is suspected of the crime. Camp and Marvel will portray husband and wife Raymond Horgan and Lorraine Horgan. (Deadline)

Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead and Southland) will play Lex Luthor in the upcoming third season of Superman & Lois on The CW. (Entertainment Weekly)

Real life married couple Ethan Embry (That Thing You Do and Sweet Home Alabama) and Sunny Mabrey (Hillbilly Elegy) will appear as husband and wife in the new DC-based series Gotham Knights that will soon debut on The CW. STREAMING MOVIE NEWS

The upcoming Netflix movie Family Leave will star Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms as well as film legend Rita Moreno. The movie follows Jess (Garner) and Bill Walker (Helms), who are doing their best to keep their family connected as their children grow older, more independent and more distant. When a chance encounter with an astrological reader causes the family to wake up to a full body switch, on the morning of the most important day of each of their lives, the Walkers must unite to land a promotion, college interview, record deal and soccer tryout. The cast of the upcoming movie Caste, which will be directed by Ava DuVernay, will now include Niecy Nash-Betts, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Nick Offerman, Connie Nielson and Jasmie Cephas Jones. The movie is being described as an instant American classic that will examine the system of hierarchy that has shaped America. (Variety)

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni (Jane the Virgin) will star [and Baldoni will direct, by the way] in the upcoming box office movie It Ends With Us, based on the best-selling romance novel by Colleen Hoover. The movie follows small-town girl Lily, who moves to Boston to start her own business. Sparks immediately fly between her and neurosurgeon Ryle, but his complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. As Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his ‘no dating’ rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. Heather Graham and Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) will star in the upcoming western action movie Place of Bones, which will be set in 1876. A botched bank robbery sees vicious outlaw gang leader Bear John (Hopper) feverishly hunting down his traitorous accomplice, Calhoun, to recover the stolen money. Nearly dead, Calhoun drags himself to a remote ranch where Pandora (Graham) lives with her daughter. As Bear and his crew of bandits arrive, intent on delivering brutal revenge, Pandora has no choice but to defend her daughter.
