It’s that time of year again: Season Finales

Each week in May, I will provide a reminder of all the season finales that will be airing that week. Make sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss any of the big events.

For the week of May 9, the finales of The Vampire Diaries and Nikita will air on The CW at 8 and 9 PM (respectively) this Thursday (May 12). Meanwhile, the finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will air that same night at 10 PM on CBS.

NOTE: The Vampire Diaries was given an early renewal by The CW, but the fate of Nikita’s future still hangs in the balance. An official decision has not been made about whether CSI will return next fall, but all signs seem to point to renewal.

Then the end of an era will come to a close as Smallville will air its two-hour series finale on The CW this Friday (May 13) from 8 to 10 PM. That same night CSI: NY and Blue Bloods will both air their season finales at 9 and 10 PM (respectively) on CBS.

NOTE: Both CBS shows are considered “on the bubble” and may or may not return for new seasons this fall.

Over on Sunday night (May 15), the two-hour season finale of Desperate Housewives will air on ABC starting at 9 PM.

NOTE: While an official announcement has yet to be made by ABC regarding their long-running nighttime soap, it will most likely be back next season.
