May 12 is National Doodle Day in the USA.
What is National Doodle Day you ask? It is part of Neurofibromatosis Awareness month. Yes, that is a mouthful, but considering that Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 2,500 births. This disorder is more common than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy and Huntington’s disease combined.
In an effort to raise money and awareness, celebrity doodles – from the likes of Jeff Bridges, Richard Chamberlain, Melissa Joan Hart, Julianna Margulies, Elizabeth Mitchell, Simon Pegg, Katee Sackhoff and Liz Tigelaar – are being auctioned off on eBay during May. These doodles will help to raise funds that will benefit NF, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis.
Funds from the National Doodle Day auction will go to support education, advocacy, coalitions, and research for treatments and a cure.
