It’s that time of year again: Season Finales

Each week in May, I will provide a reminder of all the season finales that will be airing that week. Make sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss any of the big events.

For the week of May 23, there will be several finales tonight. First there are the finales of House and The Chicago Code on FOX at 8 and 9 PM (respectively). Meanwhile, The Event will air what is assuredly its series finale on NBC at 9 PM.

NOTE (Revised) : Due to exceedingly poor ratings, The Event will most likely end even though an official cancellation has yet to be made. House was renewed for its 8th and final season while The Chicago Code has been canceled.

Tomorrow night (May 24) will see the season finale of Glee air on FOX at 9 PM.

NOTE: The musicomedy received an early fall renewal.

Lastly on Wednesday (May 25), the new drama Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior will air it finale on CBS at 10 PM.

NOTE (Revised): This new series has been canceled.

Mark your calendars!

That’s it for season finales for this month. I hope you didn’t miss out on any of your favorites.

Hey All,

Here is today’s entertainment news, albeit a very short one again:

TELEVISION

The recurring role that actress Nancy Travis would be playing in the recently picked up CW series Hart of Dixie is being recast because Travis is a series regular on the new ABC comedy Last Man Standing. The studio will not permit her to recur on the CW drama. (Deadline)

British actor Chris Vance (Prison Break and Burn Notice) has been cast as the lead in the TV version of the Transporter action movie franchise. He will play expert driver and “professional transporter” Frank Martin. Meanwhile, Hungarian actress Andrea Osvart will play his handler Carla. The first season will be shot this summer and broadcast next year on Cinemax. There will be 12-episodes in the first season. (Deadline)

CONDOLENCES

Professional wrestler “Macho Man” Randy Savage passed away in a car accident. He was only 58. (Twitter)

ME: RIP, Mr. Savage. Deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.

MOMENT OF SILENCE, PLEASE…

BOX OFFICE NEWS

Actresses Latarsha Rose and Brooke Bundy will portray Portia and Octavia – the Glam Squad – in the upcoming movie The Hunger Games. Rose has had bit parts on All My Children, CSI, Bones and Law & Order while Bundy is a relative newcomer. (E! Entertainment)

Actress Holly Hunter (Saving Grace) will appear in two upcoming films. The first is the film Still I Rise with Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal. This film tells the story of two mothers who channel frustration into action and join forces to transform a Pittsburgh inner-city public school. Hunter will play the head of the teacher’s union. The second film is the latest adaptation of Romeo and Juliet with Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit). At this time, it is unclear what role Hunter will play in the film. (Deadline and First Showing)

That’s it. Enjoy!

Have a terrific weekend!

The full fall schedule for the major networks – ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW – for the 2011-2012 TV season have been announced. The following charts will show you night-by-night (except for Saturday) what you can expect to see this fall.

Please keep in mind these schedules could easily change before September when the season/series premieres will take place AND the schedules will also change in early 2012 for mid-season programming.

MONDAY: The new show Terra Nova (FOX) will be up against the newly moved Gossip Girl (The CW) while the once powerful House (FOX) will be pitted against newcomer Hart of Dixie (The CW). The 10 PM time slot will be full, once again, with Castle (ABC) and Hawaii Five-0 (CBS) going toe-to-toe with each other and the new period piece The Playboy Club (NBC) left to fend for whatever viewers it can.

TUESDAY: 90210 (The CW) will be moved to a new night and time going up against powerhouse NCIS (CBS) and Glee (FOX). There will be two new shows debuting on Tuesdays: Ringer (The CW) and Unforgettable (CBS) with both Parenthood and Body of Proof back for new seasons.

WEDNESDAY: The big comedy night will find the drama Harry’s Law (NBC) moving to a new night and time while new show Revenge (ABC) will take up at the 10 PM time slot and CSI (CBS) will move to its new night and time.

THURSDAY: The Secret Circle (The CW) will become the companion piece to The Vampire Diaries while the new shows Charlie’s Angels (ABC), Person of Interest (CBS) and Prime Suspect (NBC) all get plum Thursday night time slots.

FRIDAY: The “graveyard night” of TV will actually be a very busy night with perennial fan favorite Chuck (NBC) moving to its new night with new show Grimm (NBC) airing directly after. Meanwhile, Nikita (The CW) will move to its new night and time, competing against not only Chuck but also the new drama A Gifted Man (CBS). And, Blue Bloods (CBS) gets to keep its 10 time slot where it will, assuredly, cream the competition.

NOTE: Saturday’s schedule was skipped simply because the networks do not programming much of anything that night anymore.

SUNDAY: The new drama Once Upon a Time (ABC) will start a new tradition of 8 PM programming on the network (something that hasn’t been done for many an eon) while the new period piece Pan Am (ABC) will take over for the defunct Walker clan. Critically-acclaimed and fan-endorsed series The Good Wife (CBS) will move to its new night and time while football (for the time being) takes over NBC.

Get ready for an interesting fall!

NOTE: If you want to learn more about the new shows that will be airing this fall (as well as the new shows expected in early 2012), please check out the separate articles for ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW.
