It’s time to review the ratings for the cable dramas that aired during the entire month of August.
MONDAYS:
The Closer – The TNT crime drama aired five new episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 6.6 million
August 8 – 6.5 million
August 15 – 6.7 million
August 22 – 6.6 million
August 29 – 6.8 million
This averages out to 6.6 million viewers. The next new episode will air on Monday, September 5.
Rizzoli & Isles – The TNT police drama aired five new episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 6.5 million
August 8 – 6.5 million
August 15 – 6.7 million
August 22 – 6.3 million
August 29 – 6.7 million
This averages out to 6.5 million viewers. The next new episode will air on Monday, September 5.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager – There were five episodes of this ABC Family Channel drama that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 2.4 million
August 8 – 2.5 million
August 15 – 2.4 million
August 22 – 2.5 million
August 29 – 2.4 million
This averages out to 2.5 million viewers. The season finale will air on Monday, September 5.
Switched at Birth – The final two episodes of the new ABC Family series aired during the time frame. The ratings for both of those episodes are as follows:
August 1– 2 million
August 8 – 2.8 million (Mid-Season Finale)
That averages out to 2.4 million viewers. The show has been given a full 22-episode order with the back 12 episodes to return in early 2012.
Eureka – This popular Syfy series aired five new episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 2.1 million
August 8 – 2.2 million
August 15 – 2.2 million
August 22 – 2 million
August 29 – 2.1 million
This averages out to 2.1 million viewers. The next new episode won’t air until Monday, September 12.
Warehouse 13 – The Syfy drama aired five new episodes airing during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 2.3 million
August 8 – 2.5 million
August 15 – 2.4 million
August 22 – 2.3 million
August 31 – 2.3 million
This averages out to 2.4 million viewers. The next new episode won’t air until Monday, September 12.
Alphas – This new Syfy series aired five new episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 2 million
August 8 – 2 million
August 15 – 1.8 million
August 22 – 1.9 million
August 29 – 1.8 million
This averages out to 1.9 million viewers. The next new episode won’t air until Monday, September 12.
Teen Wolf – The final three episodes of the first season of the MTV drama aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 1.5 million
August 8 – 1.7 million
August 15 – 2.1 million (Season Finale)
That averages out to 1.8 million viewers. The show has been renewed for a second season, returning next summer.
The Protector – The new Lifetime police drama was moved to Monday nights at 10 PM as of August 1. The shows aired a new episode that night as well as on August 8. It was then quietly moved to 11 PM on Monday nights, as of August 15.
Ratings for the August 1 and August 8 episodes were 849,000 viewers and 600,000 viewers respectively. Ratings for the other 3 episodes in August have not been made available.
The final two episodes of the first season will air on Monday, September 12 and 19. There is no word on if the show will be renewed.
The Lying Game – The new ABC Family teen drama debuted on August 15, airing three episodes during the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 14 – 1.4 million
August 21 – 1.5 million
August 29 – 1.3 million
This averages out to 1.4 million viewers. The next new episode will air on Monday, September 5.
TUESDAYS:
Covert Affairs – The final two episodes before the mid-season break aired during this time frame. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 4.6 million
August 9 – 4.7 million (Mid-Season Finale)
That averages out to 4.7 million viewers. The final six episodes of the current season will air starting on Tuesday, November 1.
White Collar – The final two episodes before the mid-season break aired during this time frame. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 3.7 million
August 9 – 4.3 million (Mid-Season Finale)
That averages out to 4 million viewers. The final six episodes of the current season will air starting in January 2012.
Pretty Little Liars – There were five episodes of this popular ABC Family Channel soap that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 2.4 million
August 9 – 2.5 million
August 16 – 2.3 million
August 23 – 2.6 million
August 30 – 3 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.6 million viewers. A stand-alone Halloween episode will air on October 19 with the remainder of the current season set to air starting in January 2012.
The Nine Lives of Chloe King – The finale three episodes of the ABC Family drama aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 961,000 viewers
August 9 – 1.3 million
August 16 – 1.1 million (Finale)
This averages out to approximately 1.2 million viewers. There has been no word from the network about a second season renewal yet.
Memphis Beat – There were three episodes of this TNT police drama that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 3.2 million
August 9 – 3 million
August 16 – 2.9 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 3 million viewers. TNT has yet to announce if it will renew the show for another season.
Hawthorne – There were three episodes of this TNT medical drama that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 2.5 million
August 9 – 2.3 million
August 16 – 2.9 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.6 million viewers. The network recently announced they would not be renewing the show for another season.
WEDNESDAYS:
Royal Pains – The USA Network medical aired five episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 5.5 million
August 10 – 5.2 million
August 17 – 5.4 million
August 24 – 5.5 million
August 31 – 5.4 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 5.4 million viewers. There are 8 more episodes left in the show’s current season with those episodes expected to air in early 2012.
Necessary Roughness – This new USA Network series aired five episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 4.2 million viewers. An all-new new episode will air on Wednesday, September 7.
Franklin & Bash –The season finale of the TNT legal drama aired on August 3, garnering 2.5 million viewers. The show was renewed for a second season, returning next summer.
Rescue Me – This FX series aired four episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 1.2 million
August 10 – 1.2 million
August 17 – 1.4 million
August 24 – 1.1 million
August 31 – 1.3 million

Damages – The ratings for the DirecTV airing of the former FX series have not been easily located and cannot, once again, be provided here. An all-new episode will air on Wednesday, September 7.
The Hour – The period piece that debuted on BBC America on August 17, airing two more new episodes on August 24 and 31; but ratings results for those three episodes have been difficult to locate. An all-new episode will air on Wednesday, September 7.
THURSDAYS:
Burn Notice – The popular USA Network spy drama aired four episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 4 – 5.2 million
August 11 – 4.7 million
August 18 – 5.3 million
August 25 – 4.6 million
This averages out to 5 million viewers. A new episode aired on September 1, but those ratings results will be included in next month’s report. The mid-season finale will air on Thursday, September 8.
Suits – The new USA Network legal drama aired four episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:

Haven – The Syfy drama aired four episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 1.8 million viewers. A new episode aired on September 2, but those ratings numbers will be included in next month’s report. The next new episode will air on Friday, September 9.
Torchwood: Miracle Day – There were four episodes of this Lifetime police drama that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 582,000 viewers
August 12 – 581,000 viewers
August 19 – 662,000 viewers
August 26 – Numbers not available yet
This averages out to 608,000 viewers. A new episode aired on September 2, but those ratings numbers will be included in next month’s report. The finale episode will air on Friday, September 9. Rumors are running rampant that the show will not be renewed for another season, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Strike Back – The explosive military-based Cinemax series debuted on August 12, garnering 567,000 viewers. There were also new episodes on August 16 and 26; but ratings numbers for those episodes have been difficult to track down. A new episode aired on September 2, but those numbers, if found, will be included in next month’s report. An all-new episode will air on Friday, September 9.
SATURDAYS:
Doctor Who – The Doctor returned with the current season’s final six new episodes on BBC America, but the ratings for that episode has been extremely difficult to track down. A new episode aired on September 3 with an all-new episode set to air on Saturday, September 10.
SUNDAYS:
In Plain Sight – The season finale of the USA Network drama aired on Sunday, August 7, earning 4.1 million viewers. The fifth and final season of the series will air next summer.
The Glades – There were four episodes of this A&E police drama that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 7 – 2.3 million
August 14 – 2.9 million
August 21 – 2.6 million
August 28 – 2.7 million
That averages out to 2.6 million viewers. The season finale will air on a special night, Monday, September 5. There has been no official word from the network if the show has received a third season renewal.
Drop Dead Diva – There were five episodes of this popular Lifetime dramedy that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 7 – 2.4 million
August 14 – 2.4 million
August 21 – 2.2 million
August 28 – 2.5 million
That averages out to 2.4 million viewers. The next new episode will air on Sunday, September 4.

This averages out to 1.9 million viewers. An all-new episode will air on Sunday, September 4.
Falling Skies – The two-hour season finale aired on Sunday, August 7, earning 5.6 million viewers. As mentioned before, the show was picked up for a second season by TNT.
Leverage – The TNT series aired four new episodes during the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 14 (Two New Episodes Aired) – 3.4 million and 3.3 million
August 21 – 3 million
August 28 – 3.2 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 3.3 million viewers. There will be 8 new episodes airing starting this November.
True Blood – The HBO series aired four new episodes during the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 7 – 5.1 million
August 14 – 5.3 million
August 21 – 5.5 million
August 28 – 5.3 million
This averages out to 5.3 million viewers. The next new episode will air on Sunday, September 4.
Breaking Bad – The AMC series aired four episodes in the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
August 7 – 1.8 million
August 14 – 1.8 million
August 21 – 1.7 million
August 28 – 1.9 million
This averages out to 1.8 million viewers. The next new episode will air on Sunday, September 4.
