TELEVISION
Actress Rhona Mitra (The Gates) is finalizing a deal to play the new female lead in the Cinemax series Strike Back, which will be back for a second 10-episode season. She will play the beautiful, cunning and ultimately ruthless Capt. Rachel Dalton of the British military who is offered the position of head of Section 20 after a long stint working in North Africa. Yesterday, FOX announced at the TCA’s (the Television Critics Association winter press gathering) that new animated series Allen Gregory has been cancelled; no news on the renewals of Terra Nova, House or Fringe (yet) and there will be no spin off of Glee. (TV By the Numbers)
Today at the TCA’s ABC Family announced they are “on the verge of putting a movie into development” for their recently cancelled TV series The Nine Lives of Chloe King. No specifics are available at this time, though. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)
Actor Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding) will appear in multiple episode of New Girl as a love interest for Jess (Zooey Deschanel). He will play a handsome, intelligent and wealthy gentleman who also happens to be the father of one of Jess’ students. They start off disliking each other but their chemistry is undeniable. DEVELOPMENT NEWS
The cable giant A+E Networks is closing in on Bonnie and Clyde, a potential mini-series based on the Depression Era outlaws that would air on either Lifetime or History. (Michael Ausiello at TV Line)

Here are the top 10 box office movies for the weekend from E! Online and Exhibitor Relations:
1. The Devil Inside, $34.5 million
2. Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol, $20.5 million
3. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, $14.1 million
4. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, $11.4 million

It looks like the box office movie adaptation of the TV series 24 is finally going to happen with filming expected to start in April or May. Kiefer Sutherland will, of course, return as Jack Bauer and actress Mary Lynn Rajskub, who played Chloe during the show’s entire run, is expected to be involved as well. (Matt Mitovich at TV Line)
Actor George Clooney will write, direct and star in the big-budget film called “The Monument Men that will be about the hunt for Nazi-stolen art treasure. This film will be an adaptation of the Robert M. Edsel book about a hand-picked group of art experts chosen by the U.S. government to retrieve artwork taken by the Nazis during World War II. The team of American and British museum directors, curators and art historians all came together to find and return the treasures which Hitler systematically emptied from the museums and private collections of Europe. ONLINE TELEVISION
Lionsgate has sold Canadian crime drama Endgame to Hulu, which will begin streaming the show’s first season in the U.S. on Hulu and Hulu Plus. Endgame centers on a brilliant chess master (Shawn Doyle) who, traumatized by the murder of his fiancée, becomes a prisoner in his luxury Vancouver hotel and, to pay the bills, works as a detective, solving mysteries with the help of a band of hotel employees and chess fanatics. Tom Hanks’ Playtone and Reliance Entertainment are teaming to produce the animated online science-fiction series Electric City that will initially stream exclusively on Yahoo. There will be 20 episodes in the online series with Hanks providing the voice for the lead character. (The Hollywood Reporter and Dark Horizons)
