TELEVISION
Actor Cameron Daddo (24) will guest star in an upcoming episode of Nikita as the President of the United States, Charles Grayson. (Megan Masters at TV Line)
Actor Ben Feldman (Drop Dead Diva) has joined the cast of Mad Men for its current season 5; in fact, he made his debut on the show last night. (Deadline)
Actor Mahershala Ali (The 4400) has been added to the cast of the Netflix drama series House of Cards that will star Kevin Spacey as Rep. Frank Underwood, the Majority Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives who after being passed over for Secretary of State hatches a plot to bring down the new president. Ali will play successful lobbyist Remy Danton. (Deadline)
Actor Kris Polaha (Ringer) will guest star in a two-episode arc of the MTV teen comedy Awkward, playing a man who figures prominently into the past of character Lacey (Nikki DeLoach), Jenna’s mom. For those unfamiliar, Awkward follows the ups and downs of teen Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards), who becomes a school celebrity after people mistakenly think she attempted suicide. DEVELOPMENT NEWS
Actress Sara Rue (Rules of Engagement and Popular) has joined the cast of the comedy pilot called Guys with Kids that will be about a trio of thirtysomething guys who live in the same high-rise – Nick (Zach Cregger), Chris (Jesse Bradford) and Gary (Anthony Anderson), dealing with parenthood despite the fact they haven’t grown up themselves. Rue will play Sheila, Chris’s ex-wife, who’s now dating former NBA star Patrick Ewing. (The Hollywood Reporter and The Futon Critic)
Actor Zachary Abel (Make It or Break It) and actress Malese Jow (The Vampire Diaries) have joined the cast of the drama pilot called Shelter from The CW that is about the staff and guests at Shelter Bay, a historic New England summer resort. Abel will play hopeless romantic Mitchell Taylor, a 23-year-old former local baseball hero who now works the concierge desk at the Shelter Bay Inn while Jow will play Morgan, Shelter Bay’s resident party girl. Actress Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) will star in a new adaptation of the classic novel Madame Bovary, playing Emma Bovary, the beautiful wife of a small-town doctor who she married to escape her father’s pig farm. She constantly tries to climb the social ladder by engaging in extra-marital affairs. Paul Giamatti is attached to play Monsieur Homais, the town apothecary who is a close confidant of her husband Charles. (Variety and Dark Horizons)
