Now that August is over, it is time to review the ratings for the cable series that aired last month as well as the ratings for any made-for-TV movies that could be tracked down. Those ratings are all listed below:
CABLE SHOWS
MONDAYS:
The Secret Life of the American Teenager – The four final episodes of the first half of the current season of the ABC Family drama aired during August. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
August 6 – 1.1 million
August 13 – 1.1 million
August 20 – 1.4 million
August 27 – 1.5 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for the month. Reportedly, there will be a holiday episode of Secret Life airing on ABC Family in December and then the show will be back for the rest of its fifth season next March.
Bunheads – The new ABC Family drama aired its final three summer episodes in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 6 – 1.2 million
August 13 – 1.1 million
August 20 – 1.5 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for the month. Bunheads was picked up for additional episodes by ABC Family, but a return date has yet to be announced.
Teen Wolf – The MTV series aired its final two episodes of its second season during August. The ratings for both of those episodes are as follows:
August 6 – 1.7 million
August 13 – 1.7 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for the month. Teen Wolf was renewed for a third season by MTV and is expected to return sometime next year.
The Closer – The final two episodes (EVER!) of the long-running TNT series aired during August. The ratings for both of those episodes are as follows:
August 6 – 6 million
August 13 – 9.1 million (Series Finale)
This averages out to 7.6 million viewers for the month.
Perception – The new TNT series aired three more episodes of its debut season in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 6 – 4.1 million
August 13 – No Episode Aired
August 20 – 3.9 million
August 27 – 4 million
This averages out to 4 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Perception aired this past Monday night and another new episode will air on TNT next Monday, September 10 at 10 PM.
Warehouse 13 – The popular Syfy series actually returned with it season premiere on July 23, airing two episodes in July and airing four episodes in August. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
July 23 – 2.1 million
July 30 – 1.7 million
August 6 – 1.6 million
August 13 – 1.6 million
August 20 – 1.9 million
August 27 – 1.9 million
This averages out to 1.8 million viewers for the month. The next new episode of Warehouse 13 will air on Syfy next Monday, September 10 at 9 PM.
Alphas – The Syfy series returned for a second season on July 23, airing two episodes in July and airing four episodes in August. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
July 23 – 1.7 million
July 30 – 1.4 million
August 6 – 1.4 million
August 13 – 1.3 million
August 20 – 1.4 million
August 27 – 1.7 million
This averages out to 1.5 million viewers for the month. The next new episode of Alphas will air on Syfy next Monday, September 10 at 10 PM.
TUESDAYS:
Pretty Little Liars – The popular teen ABC Family drama aired four new episodes, including its summer finale of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 7 – 2.5 million
August 14 – 2.3 million
August 21 – 2.4 million
August 28 – 3 million (Summer Finale)
This averages out to 2.6 million viewers for the month. Pretty Little Liars will be back on ABC Family for an all-day marathon, ending with their Halloween episode on Tuesday, October 23 at 8 PM.
Rizzoli & Isles – The season finale of the TNT police procedural aired on August 14, earning 6 million viewers. Rizzoli & Isles was renewed by TNT for a fourth season this past June and is expected to return sometime next year.
Franklin & Bash – The season finale of the TNT legal drama aired on August 14, earning 2.8 million viewers. TNT has yet to announce if Franklin & Bash will be renewed for a third season.
White Collar – The popular USA Network series aired three more new episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 7 – No Episode Aired
August 14 – 2.9 million
August 21 – 3.9 million
August 28 – 3.4 million
This averages out to 3.4 million viewers for the month. A new episode of White Collar aired last night and an all-new episode will air on the USA Network next Tuesday, September 11 at 9 PM.
Covert Affairs – The USA Network spy series three more new episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 7 – No Episode Aired
August 14 – 3.3 million
August 21 – 3.5 million
August 28 – 3.2 million
This averages out to 3.3 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Covert Affairs aired last night and an all-new episode will air on the USA Network next Tuesday, September 11 at 10 PM.
WEDNESDAYS:
Royal Pains – The popular USA Network medical drama aired four all-new episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 3 million

August 29 – 3.8 million
This averages out to 4.1 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Royal Pains will air on the USA Network tonight Wednesday, September 5 at 9 PM.
Necessary Roughness – The popular USA Network drama aired its final four episodes of the summer during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 2.1 million
August 8 – No Episode Aired
August 15 – 2.5 million
August 22 – 2.6 million
August 29 – 2.9 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.5 million viewers for the month. Necessary Roughness will return for the remainder of its current season this winter on the USA Network.
Dallas – The reboot of the popular 80’s soap opera aired three more new episodes in July. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 3.2 million
August 8 – 4.3 million
This averages out to 3.6 million viewers for the month. Dallas will return to TNT in January.
Damages – The ratings for the final season of Damages, airing on DirecTV, could not be located.
THURSDAYS:
Burn Notice – The long-running USA Network series aired four more new episodes, including its mid-season finale during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 4.3 million
August 9 – 4 million
August 16 – 4.4 million
August 23 – 5 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 4.4 million viewers for the month. Burn Notice will be back for new episodes starting on November 8 at 9 PM on the USA Network.
Suits – The USA Network series Suits aired four new episodes, including it mid-season finale during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 2 – 3.4 million
August 9 – 3.4 million
August 16 – 4 million
August 23 – 4.5 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 3.8 million viewers for the month. Suits will return for the remainder of its current season in January.
Awkward – The MTV comedy aired five more new episodes during August. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Lost Girl will air on Syfy on Friday, September 7 at 10 PM.
Common Law – The new USA Network police drama aired its final two episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 10 – 2 million
This averages out to 1.9 million viewers for the month. The USA Network has yet to announce if they will renew Common Law for another season.
Boss – The Starz political drama returned for its second season on August 17, airing three new episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 17 – 317,000 viewers
August 24 – 230,000 viewers
August 31 – 371,000 viewers
This averages out to 306,000 viewers for the month. The next new episode of Boss will air on Starz this Friday, September 7 at 9 PM.
Strike Back – The military-themed Cinemax series returned for its second season, starting on August 17, airing three episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes could not be tracked down, however. The next new episode of Strike Back will air on Cinemax this Friday, September 7 at 10 PM.
SUNDAYS:
Drop Dead Diva – The popular Lifetime dramedy aired four more new episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 2.3 million
August 12 – 2.4 million
August 19 – 2.4 million
August 26 – 2.5 million
This averages out to 2.4 million viewers for the month. The season finale of Drop Dead Diva will air on Lifetime on Sunday, September 9 at 9 PM.
Army Wives – The Lifetime military drama aired four more new episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

The Glades – The A&E police drama aired its final two episodes of the current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 3.1 million viewers for the month. The Glades has yet to be renewed for another season by A&E.
Longmire – The new western-styled police drama finished out its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 4.2 million viewers for the month. Longmire will return for its second season on A&E next year.
Leverage – The TNT con caper aired four more new episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 2.5 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Leverage aired this past Sunday and another new episode will air on TNT on Sunday, September 9 at 9 PM.
Falling Skies – The alien-invasion series aired its final three episodes of its second season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 12 – 3.5 million
August 19 – 3.8 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 3.5 million viewers for the month. Falling Skies was renewed for a third season and will be back on TNT next year.
True Blood – The HBO series aired its final four episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 12 – 4.5 million
August 19 – 4.9 million
August 26 – 5 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 4.7 million viewers for the month. True Blood will be back on HBO for its sixth season sometime next year.
The Newsroom – The new HBO drama aired its final four episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 1.8 million
August 12 – 1.8 million
August 19 – 2 million
August 26 – 2.3 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2 million viewers for the month. The Newsroom was renewed by HBO for a second season and will be back sometime next year.
Breaking Bad – The AMC series aired four more new episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 2.3 million
August 12 – 2.5 million
August 19 – 2.8 million
August 26 – 3 million
This averages out to 2.7 million viewers for the month. The mid-season finale of Breaking Bad aired on September 2 and the ratings for the mid-season finale will be included in next month’s ratings report.
Political Animals – The final 3 hours of the 6-part USA Network mini-series aired during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 1.8 million
August 12 – 2 million
August 19 – 2.3 million (Mini-Series Finale)
This averages out to 2 million viewers for the month. There is no news on whether the USA Network will bring the mini-series back for another round or not.
Hell on Wheels – The AMC western drama returned for its second season, starting on August 12, airing three episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 12 – 2.5 million
August 19 – 2.3 million
August 26 – 2.5 million
This averages out to 2.4 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Hell on Wheels aired this past Sunday and the next new episode will air on Sunday, September 9 at 9 PM.
Copper – The new period piece drama from BBC America debuted on August 19 airing two episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 19 – 1.1 million
August 26 – 874,000 viewers
This averages out to 987,000 viewers for the month. A new episode of Copper aired on BBC American this past Sunday and the next new episode will air on Sunday, September 9 at 10 PM.
MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES
The following made-for-TV movies aired during August:
The Music Teacher debuted on August 11 on the Hallmark Channel, earning a meager 668,000 viewers and Smart Cookies debuted on August 18 on the Hallmark Channel, getting 1 million viewers. Meanwhile, Strawberry Summer debuted on August 25 on Hallmark Movie Channel, but the ratings for this movie could not be tracked down.
Meanwhile, over on Syfy the horror flick Boogeyman aired on August 11, earning 1.5 million viewers and the horror-laced flick Haunted High aired on Syfy on August 25, getting 1.2 million viewers.
The Lifetime made-for-TV movie Fatal Honeymoon debuted on August 25 getting 2 million viewers while the Lifetime Movie Network flick The Preacher’s Daughter aired on August 31, but ratings have not been tracked down yet.
Ratings results for the cable series and the made-for-TV movies that will air in September, that can be tracked down, will be provided during the first week of October.
