TELEVISION

Actress Garcelle Beauvais will not be returning to Franklin & Bash for the shows’ third season, which will air sometime next year. It seems her contract for that new season was not picked up. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

NBC has ordered five more scripts of the new NBC drama Chicago Fire. (Kimberly Roots at TV Line)

Actor Joaquim de Almeida (24) will have a guest role in an upcoming episode of Revenge, playing Salvador Grobet, a dashing Central American gentleman who’s a wealthy investor in Grayson Global. (Lesley Goldberg at The Hollywood Reporter)

DEVELOPMENT NEWS

Actress Ming-Na (ER, Stargate Universe and Eureka) has joined the cast of The Avengers spin-off TV pilot S.H.I.E.L.D. that is being overseen by none other than Joss Whedon. She will play Agent Melinda May, an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can — and has — gone beyond the call of duty. Already cast in the pilot is actor Clark Gregg, who is reprising his role of Agent Phil Coulson. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

BOX OFFICE NEWS

Actress-singer Jill Scott will star in the upcoming romantic comedy film called Baggage Claim alongside Paula Patton (Jumping the Broom) and Derek Luke (Sparkle). In the film Scott will play Gail Best, the coworker and best friend to Montana Moore (Patton), a flight attendant who embarks on a unique search for companionship. Gail’s no-nonsense advice, at times outlandish, provides comic relief to situations Montana views as dire. (Press Release)
