Based on information provided by the Dark Horizons site and internet research, here are just some of the movies you can expect to see in the movie theatres in November.
Flight
Opens: November 2
The film centers on a commercial airline pilot (Denzel Washington) whose plane malfunctions. He saves the day with some heroic flying and is instantly hailed as a hero, but an investigation into the cause determines he was flying under the influence of drugs and alcohol. As the airline tries to cover up the problem, the pilot attempts to turn his life around. The cast will include Kelly Reilly, Bruce Greenwood, Don Cheadle and John Goodman.
The Man with the Iron Fists
Opens: November 2
The story follows a blacksmith who forges weapons for the inhabitants of a village in 19th century feudal China who are soon forced to defend themselves. The cast includes Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Dave Batista and Rick Yune (among others).
Vamps
Opens: November 2
Goody (Alicia Silverstone) and Stacy (Krysten Ritter) are addicted to the night life, clubbing, hooking up and always looking for the next thrill, all the while keeping a big a secret-they happen to be modern-day vampires. But even with lifetimes of dating experience behind them, the duo realizes they still have a lot to learn about love when Stacy unexpectedly falls for the son of a vampire hunter, and Goody runs into the man of her dreams from decades earlier. With their destinies at stake, the girls are faced with a difficult choice; give up their eternal youth for a chance at love, or continue to live their uncomplicated fabulously single lives forever. The cast includes Justin Kirk, Kristen Johnston, Malcolm McDowell and Sigourney Weaver.
Wreck-It Ralph

This 3d computer-animated comedy adventure tells the story of a simple 8-bit video game villain character named Wreck-It Ralph who dreams of there being more to life than smashing buildings, so he tries to break out of his ‘bad guy’ limitations by becoming a good guy. Voice will be provided by John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch.
Lincoln
Opens: November 9
Based on the Lincoln biography called “Team of Rivals” by Doris Kearns Goodwin, Daniel Day Lewis plays the legendary President of the United States, focusing mainly on the last few months of his life. The big story will be the close vote in the House of Representatives over the 13th Amendment which permanently ended slavery and, of course, the end of the Civil War. The cast includes Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Lee Pace, Jackie Earle Haley, James Spader, Hal Holbrook, Walton Goggins, Gloria Reuben and Bruce McGill.
Skyfall (007)
Opens: November 9
Daniel Craig is back as the legendary spy – James Bond – in a stand-alone entry that sees a past secret of M’s (Dame Judi Dench) coming back to challenge Bond’s loyalty to her – something bad enough to lead to a full on attack of MI6. The cast includes Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Helen McCrory and Naomie Harris.
Anna Karenina
Opens: November 16
This is another adaptation of the Tolstoy classic which follows a married woman in late-19th-century Russian high-society who becomes a social outcast when she has an affair with an aristocrat. The cast includes Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Kelly Macdonald and Matthew Macfadyen.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part Two
Opens: November 16
The final adaptation of the Twilight franchise will find Bella (Kristen Stewart) now turned into a vampire and her and Edward’s (Robert Pattinson) child growing; but it would seem her mere existence will cause the gathering of vampire clans from around the world to face off with the Volturi who have come to kill Renesmee. The cast includes Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli and Michael Sheen (among countless others).
Red Dawn
Opens: November 21
This reboot of the classic 1984 cult film keep the basic premise of students finding out their small town has become the foothold for a foreign invasion by the North Koreans and they organize themselves as a group of guerilla resistance fighters. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Isobel Lucas.
Life of Pi
Opens: November 21
The film is an adaptation of the award-winning novel by Yann Martel. The story follows a young boy who survives a freighter sinking and is stuck in a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Bengal tiger. The cast includes Suraj Sharma, Adil Hussain, Irrfan Khan and Gerard Depardieu.
Rise of the Guardians
Opens: November 21
This animated film will be a contemporary fairytale based on existing fairytale characters, following the story of Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) and Jack Frost (Chris Pine) teaming up to stop Pitch the Boogeyman (Jude Law) from sending the world into eternal darkness.
The Silver Linings Playbook
Opens: November 21
Bradley Cooper plays a former teacher who, after spending four years in a mental institution, moves back in with his mother and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. He ends up meeting a young woman (Jennifer Lawrence) in a similar position to him and the pair try to navigate their lives while staying true to who they are. The cast includes Robert De Niro, Julia Stiles and Jackie Weaver.
Hitchcock
Opens: November 23
The relationship between Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife, editor and assistant director Alma Reville. She was Hitchcock’s sounding board and constant collaborator for the fifty-four years of their marriage, and had a keen mind for dialogue and continuity. The cast includes Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel and Toni Collette.
Killing Them Softly
Opens: November 30
The film is set in New Orleans (adapted from the George V. Higgins novel) and follows Professional enforcer, Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt), who investigates a heist that occurs during a high stakes, mob-protected, poker game. The cast includes Ray Liotta, Garret Dillahunt, James Gandolfini, Sam Shepard, Richard Jenkins and Bella Heathcote.
