TELEVISION
The Cinemax series Hunted may not have been renewed by its home network BBC One (in the U.K.), but that doesn’t mean that Cinemax is done with it. It looks like the cabler is working with series creator Frank Spotnitz on a “new incarnation of the show about spy Sam Hunter, who is played by actress Melissa George. American Horror Story has been given a third season renewal by FX. (The Futon Critic)
Actor Eddie Izzard (The Riches) will guest star in the upcoming NBC thriller Hannibal, playing an inmate at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, the very same facility where Hannibal Lecter is eventually incarcerated. His character is claiming to be “the infamous Chesapeake Ripper.” (James Hibberd at Entertainment Weekly)

NBC is developing a drama project tentatively called George Washington, which would take an intimate look at the enigmatic leader who became the father of a nation on one side of the Atlantic and a terrorist on the other, a man to be eliminated at all costs by the British Crown. The History channel is now developing a mini-series to be called Texas Rising, which would chronicle the formation and rise of the Texas Rangers, the oldest law enforcement organization in North America. It will chronicle the force’s humble beginnings as well as its role during Texas’ secession from the U.S. during the Civil War. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)
Actor Bryan Greenberg (How To Make It In America and October Road) and newcomer actress Stephanie Sigman (the star of the Mexican film called Miss Bala) have landed the lead roles in the as yet untitled hour-long pilot from the USA Network, which is based on a short story by legendary author Elmore Leonard. The project would center on a Miami businessman (Greenberg) who, contemplating a run for political office, tries to increase his chances of being elected by marrying a Colombian woman (Sigman) who is on the run from her troubled past. What starts as a marriage of convenience quickly escalates into much more as his new wife proves to be more resourceful at “fixing” any problem the corrupt South Miami political scene throws at her husband. MTV has picked up the comedy pilot currently called Hot Mess from Lauren Iungerich, the creator of the lauded comedy Awkward. The project would revolves around Amanda Marshall, who is her own worst enemy when it comes to love. She emotionally spirals, impulsively texts and proactively calls. She knows the rules but can’t follow them because she can’t help herself, but she’s trying. She’s a loveable “hot mess.” (Lesley Goldberg at The Hollywood Reporter)
Actor Jesse Plemons (Friday Night Lights) will star opposite actor Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) in the Cold War spy drama pilot from HBO called The Missionary. The project is set in Berlin in the late 1960s, centering on Roy (Walker), a young American missionary who gets caught up in Cold War intrigue while helping a young woman escape East Berlin. Plemons will play Sherwood Elbridge, a young coca-cola executive who helps smuggle defectors out of the Eastern Bloc. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)
Actress Catalina Sandino Moreno (who was nominated for an Oscar for the film Maria Full Of Grade) has joined the cast of the FX drama pilot called The Bridge that will star Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir. The project centers on two detectives from the U.S. and Mexico, El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North (Kruger) and Marco Ruiz (Bichir) who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Moreno will play Marco’s second wife who is at home to tend to the kids while Marco works long hours. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Sony Pictures has acquired the science fiction novella called Seasons by author Joe Haldeman. The novella focuses on an anthropological expedition to a planet with sentient humanoids that goes horribly awry. (Mike Fleming at Deadline)
Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Good Universe have acquired the picture rights to the book series by Susan Ee known as Angelfall. The story behind the books begins six weeks after angels of the apocalypse descend to demolish the modern world, and street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her 17-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back, including making a deal with an enemy angel Raffe, a warrior who has been left bleeding and wingless. The two journey toward the angel’s stronghold where Penryn must risk everything to rescue her sister and Raffe must decide whether to put himself at the mercy of his enemies for the chance to be made whole again. Actor Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) is attached to star in the film based on Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell video game. The original game revolves around Sam Fisher, a covert operative to be played by Hardy. (Mike Fleming at Deadline)
Actor Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) will play the lead role in a movie about Pompeii for which director Paul W.S. Anderson is helming. This version will be a period adventure movie anchored by a strong love story, centering on a slave named Milo (Harington) who is in love with his master’s daughter. But she’s already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, and he’s sold to another owner in far away Naples. When Vesuvius blows, Milo travels back to Pompeii to rescue his true love and save his friend, a gladiator locked in the coliseum. (Variety and First Showing)

As for the present, we asked Ashley Madekwe if there was a future for her and Daniel, and she took a long pause before answering. “I can’t answer that! But we’re still doing it [right now].” Rub it in, why don’t you? Madekwe also confirmed that Jennifer Jason Leigh, aka Emily’s mom, will be back in future episodes.
