The Sundance Channel mini-series Restless (part one) will debut on December 7 at 9 PM.
This two-part mini-series is based on the novel by British writer William Boyd that follows the story of a daughter who discovers that her mother was recruited as a spy during World War II.
The cast includes Hayley Atwell (Captain America), Rufus Sewell (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter franchise) and Charlotte Rampling (Melancholia).
NOTE: Part 2 of the mini-series will air next Friday, December 14 at 9 PM.
Here is a trailer for Restless.

Boring….hard to figure it out. Forced myself to finish watching it. I did not enjoy…still not sure who was who or who were the bad guys.
I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like the Sundance mini-series. Not every movie works for every viewer. Hopefully you’ll find others that you will like.
Whew!! Don’t know where Liz’s head was at–as they say–but “Restless” is a top-notch spy thriller, with fine attention to detail in evoking the war-time forties in the US, Canada and the UK.
I would like more info about the showtimes on “Sundance” in 2013. I am playing-back one of the two miniseries’ episodes right now, and am unclear about this being the first or second of the two, and am very earnest about snagging the missing one. This is what superior movie-making is about. Just damn good!! ; )
Everyone has different tastes, but I’m glad you liked Restless.
At this point, it appears to me that Sundance played both episodes back to back (with no distinction made between the two parts). I would still like to have the length of the entire miniseries, to absolutely verify this, please.
Of course, people vary in their tastes and opinions. Yet, this vehicle featured a strong story-line, good cast, fine attention to detail (apparently a slight goof in the cars used, in a scene or two) and building mood, and good solid drama. For my money, this was the “cat’s meow.”
To answer your question on how long the Restless mini-series was, it was a two-part 4-hour mini-series.
Thanks. Methinks–then–I have the first installment. Any idea when the miniseries will be aired again, so’s I may pick up the second half, please?
I really don’t know without doing a search of the upcoming listings on Sundance to see when it might air again. If you can, I would check your local listings, search on your TV to see if it might be airing in your area again sometime soon. The cable networks have much more free reign to reair their programming as they like compared to the major networks. I hope you find the 2nd part to complete your collection.
