It’s that time again: the upfronts presentations are here and both FOX and NBC were on tap for today.

Let’s first take a look at what FOX has in store for this fall:

MONDAYS:

NOTE: The new drama Gang Related has been picked up for the 2013-2014 TV season, but it has not been given a place on the schedule yet.

NEW DRAMA DESCRIPTIONS:

Almost Human – The police drama is set 35 years in the future where police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. The cast includes Karl Urban (Star Trek) and Michael Ealy (Common Law). From J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and J.H. Wyman (Fringe).

Sleepy Hollow – This is a modern-day retelling of the classic story of Ichabod Crane, who is resurrected and pulled 2½ centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers. The cast includes Tom Mison (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) and Nicole Beharie (Shame). From Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek and Fringe).

Gang Related – This is a gritty action-drama about a rising star in the Los Angeles Gang Task Force, who is actually part of a powerful Latino gang who goes “undercover” in the gang task force. The cast includes Ramon Rodriguez (The Wire) and Rza (Californication). From Chris Morgan and Brian Grazer (among others).

Rake – Based on the Australian series of the same name, the series follows the comedic and chaotic life of criminal defense lawyer Keegan Deane. The cast includes Greg Kinnear (The Kennedys), Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings franchise) and Necar Zadegan (Emily Owens, M.D.). From Peter Duncan, Peter Tolan and Michael Wimer (among others).

Here is a list of the programming options to expect on TV this week:

On May 13, a special 90210 retrospective will air on The CW at 8 PM followed by the series finale of the show at 9 PM.

Also on May 13, Castle will air its season finale on ABC at 10:01 PM.

The season finales of NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles will air at 8 and 9 PM respectively on CBS followed by the series finale of Golden Boy (as the show was not renewed) at 10 PM.

The season finales of Arrow and Supernatural will air on May 15 on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively while the season finale of CSI will air at 10 PM on CBS that same night.

On May 16, the season finales of The Vampire Diaries and Beauty And the Beast will air on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively and Elementary will air its two-hour season finale on CBS at 9 PM the same night.

Also on that same night, the season finales of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal will air on ABC at 9 and 10 PM respectively.

Nikita will air its season finale on May 17 at 8 PM on The CW.

The final episode of Doctor Who will air on BBC America on May 18 at 8 PM.

NOTE: Doctor Who will be back with a holiday episode this Christmas.

On May 19, the Billboard Music Awards will air on ABC at 8 PM.

Here are the news items for today:

TELEVISION

TNT has canceled Southland after five seasons as well as freshman drama Monday Mornings. (Jon Weisman at Variety and The Wrap)

The CW has given a renewal notice to both Nikita and The Carrie Diaries for this coming fall with Nikita possibly getting a 6- to 10-episode final season while The Carrie Diaries get a 13-episode order. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

CBS has finally given a renewal to Criminal Minds. Meanwhile, CSI: NY, Golden Boy and Vegas have all been canceled. (Twitter)

FOX has not only canceled the drama Touch but is considering bringing 24 back as a limited series. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Actress Nicole Gale Anderson (Beauty And the Beast) has landed the lead role of Miranda on the Pretty Little Liars spin-off Ravenswood. (Sandra Gonzalez at Entertainment Weekly)

Syfy has given a second season order to its new drama Defiance. (Syfy at Twitter)

The USA Network is pulling the plug on their long-running drama Burn Notice after its upcoming 7th season, which is set to air this summer, staring on June 6. (Philiana Ng at The Hollywood Reporter)

Actress Justina Machado (Private Practice) has joined the cast of the new ABC Family drama The Fosters (from executive producer Jennifer Lopez). Machado will have the recurring role of Sofia Rivera, the outspoken and extremely protective mother of Mariana Foster’s (Cierra Ramirez) best friend, Lexi Rivera (Bianca Santos). She will appear in at least two episodes beginning in July. The Fosters is set to debut on June 3. (Philiana Ng at The Hollywood Reporter)

EARLY UPFRONTS NEWS

The CW has picked up four new dramas (as well as the previously announced The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals). Here are the details on the new shows:

The 100 – Ninety-seven years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, a spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet. Based on the forthcoming The Hundred book series by Kass Morgan.

Oxygen – Passion and politics threaten the peace and an epic romance ignites between a human girl (Aimee Teegarden) and an alien boy when he and eight others of his kind (known as The Orion 9) are integrated into a suburban high school ten years after they and hundreds of others landed on Earth and were immediately consigned to an internment camp where they’ve been imprisoned ever since.

Reign – The previously unknown and untold story of Mary Queen of Scots’ rise to power when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis, and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting.

The Tomorrow People – Based on the U.K., the drama tells the story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil. (Variety)

Meanwhile, NBC has picked up the remake of Ironside that will star Blair Underwood in the lead role as well as the Chicago Fire spin-off that is to be called Chicago PD. (Variety)

And, CBS has picked up the dramas Hostages and Intelligence for this fall. (Variety)

BOX OFFICE NEWS

It has been confirmed that actor Enrico Colantoni will appear in the Veronica Mars movie that is to film this summer. (Official Kickstarter Update)

Young actress Chloe Moretz (Kick Ass and the upcoming Carrie remake) will appear in the big screen adaptation of the classic 80’s TV show The Equalizer alongside Denzel Washington. (First Showing)
