August is now over and it’s time to look at the cable ratings for the month for both cable series and made-for-TV movies:

CABLE SHOWS
MONDAY:
The Glades – The A&E cop drama aired its final four episodes of its fourth season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 2.3 million
August 12 – 2.3 million
August 19 – 2.7 million
August 26 – 3.4 million (Series Finale)
This averages out to 2.7 million viewers for the month. Sadly, A&E decided to cancel The Glades after four seasons and a big (now unanswered) cliffhanger.
Longmire – The A&E drama aired the final four episodes of its second season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 3.9 million
August 12 – 3.6 million
August 19 – 4.1 million
August 26 – 4.4 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 4 million viewers for the month. Longmire will return to A&E for a third season sometime next year.
Switched at Birth – The final three episodes of the first half of the popular ABC Family drama’s new season aired during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 1.7 million
August 12 – 1.6 million
August 19 – 2 million (Summer Finale)
This averages out to 1.8 million viewers for the month. Switched at Birth will be back on ABC Family for the remainder of its current season in January.
The Fosters – The new ABC Family drama aired its summer finale on August 5, earning 2.1 million viewers. The rest of the debut season of The Fosters will return to ABC Family in January.
Teen Wolf – The MTV thriller aired the final three episodes of the first part of its current season in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 2 million
August 12 – 1.9 million
August 19 – 2 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 2 million viewers for the month. Teen Wolf will return with the remainder of its current season on MTV in January.
Major Crimes – The TNT cop drama aired the final three episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 5.2 million viewers for the month. Major Crimes will be back with a new season on TNT sometime in 2014.

Pretty Little Liars – The ABC Family drama aired the final four episodes of the first part of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

Magic City – The Starz period drama aired the final two episodes of the series during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 9 – 526,000 viewers (Series Finale)
This averages out to approximately 545,000 viewers for the month. Magic City was cancelled by Starz after two seasons on the air.
Strike Back – The Cinemax espionage series returned on August 16, airing three episodes of its new season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 16 – 364,000 viewers
August 23 – 331,000 viewers
August 30 – No Episode aired
This averages out to 348,000 viewers for the month. Strike Back aired a new episode on Cinemax on September 6 with another new episode set for September 13 on Cinemax at 10 PM.
SATURDAY:
Sinbad – The final five episodes of the one and only season of this Syfy series aired on August 3, averaging 780,000 viewers. There will be no more episodes of Sinbad.
Primeval: New World – The final six episodes of the one and only season of this Canadian series picked up by Syfy aired on August 10, averaging 730,000 viewers. There will be no more episodes of Primeval: New World.
Cedar Cove – The first original scripted drama on the Hallmark Channel aired five new episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 2 million
August 10 – 2.1 million
August 17 – 2 million

The Killing – The AMC drama aired its two-hour season finale on August 4, earning 1.5 million viewers. The network has yet to be announced if The Killing will be renewed for another season yet.
Falling Skies – The TNT alien invasion aired its season finale on August 4, earning 3.7 million viewers. Falling Skies will return next summer to TNT.
True Blood – The HBO vampire drama aired the final three episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 4 – 4.2 million
August 11 – 4 million
August 18 – 4.1 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 4.1 million viewers for the month. The final season of True Blood will air on HBO in 2014.
