August is now over and it’s time to look at the cable ratings for the month for both cable series and made-for-TV movies:

Those ratings are all listed below:

CABLE SHOWS

MONDAY:

The Glades – The A&E cop drama aired its final four episodes of its fourth season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 5 – 2.3 million
August 12 – 2.3 million
August 19 – 2.7 million
August 26 – 3.4 million (Series Finale)

This averages out to 2.7 million viewers for the month. Sadly, A&E decided to cancel The Glades after four seasons and a big (now unanswered) cliffhanger.

Longmire – The A&E drama aired the final four episodes of its second season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 5 – 3.9 million
August 12 – 3.6 million
August 19 – 4.1 million
August 26 – 4.4 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 4 million viewers for the month. Longmire will return to A&E for a third season sometime next year.

Switched at Birth – The final three episodes of the first half of the popular ABC Family drama’s new season aired during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 5 – 1.7 million
August 12 – 1.6 million
August 19 – 2 million (Summer Finale)

This averages out to 1.8 million viewers for the month. Switched at Birth will be back on ABC Family for the remainder of its current season in January.

The Fosters – The new ABC Family drama aired its summer finale on August 5, earning 2.1 million viewers. The rest of the debut season of The Fosters will return to ABC Family in January.

Teen Wolf – The MTV thriller aired the final three episodes of the first part of its current season in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 5 – 2 million
August 12 – 1.9 million
August 19 – 2 million (Mid-Season Finale)

This averages out to 2 million viewers for the month. Teen Wolf will return with the remainder of its current season on MTV in January.

Major Crimes – The TNT cop drama aired the final three episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 5 – 5.1 million
August 12 – 5.3 million
August 19 – 5.3 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 5.2 million viewers for the month. Major Crimes will be back with a new season on TNT sometime in 2014.

King & Maxwell – The new TNT drama aired its final two episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 5 – 3.2 million
August 12 – 3.5 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 3.4 million viewers for the month. King & Maxwell is expected to return to TNT sometime next year.

TUESDAY:

Pretty Little Liars – The ABC Family drama aired the final four episodes of the first part of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 2.6 million
August 13 – 2.4 million
August 20 – 2.3 million
August 27 – 3.3 million (Summer Finale)

This averages out to 2.7 million viewers for the month. Pretty Little Liars will air its annual Halloween episode on October 22 and will be back for the rest of its current season on ABC Family in January.

Twisted – The new ABC Family drama aired the final three episodes of the first half of its debut season, as well as a recap special, during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 1.5 million
August 13 – 1.4 million
August 20 – 991,000 viewers
August 27 – 1.6 million (Summer Finale)

This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for the month. Twisted will return to ABC Family for the remainder of its debut season in January.

The Haves and the Have Nots – The OWN scripted drama aired four more new episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 2 million
August 13 – 2.1 million
August 20 – 2.1 million
August 27 – 2.3 million

This averages out to 2.1 million viewers for the month. The Haves and the Have Nots aired its season finale on September 3 and those numbers will be provided in September’s report.

Rizzoli & Isles – The popular TNT cop drama aired four more new episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 5.5 million
August 13 – 5.6 million
August 20 – 5.6 million
August 27 – 6 million

This averages out to 5.7 million viewers for the month. Rizzoli & Isles aired a new episode on September 3 with the season finale set to air on September 10 at 9 PM on TNT.

Perception – The TNT drama aired the final four episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 3.1 million
August 13 – 3.3 million
August 20 – 3.4 million
August 27 – 3.6 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 3.4 million viewers for the month. Perception is expected to return to TNT next summer.

Covert Affairs – The popular USA Network spy drama actually returned in July with an all new season, airing three episodes in July and four episodes in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

July 16 – 2.4 million (Season Premiere)
July 23 – 2.7 million
July 30 – 2.3 million
August 6 – 2.7 million
August 13 – 2.2 million
August 20 – 2.5 million
August 27 – 2.4 million

This averages out to 2.5 million viewers for July and 2.5 million viewers for August. A new episode of Covert Affairs just aired on September 3 with another new episode set to air on September 10.

Suits – This USA Network legal drama also returned with an all-new season in July, airing three episodes in July and four episodes in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

July 16 – 2.9 million (Season Premiere)
July 23 – 2.9 million
July 30 – 2.5 million
August 6 – 3 million
August 13 – 2.8 million
August 20 – 2.8 million
August 27 – 2.8 million

This averages out to 2.8 million viewers for July and 2.9 million viewers for August. A new episode of Suits just aired on September 3 with another new episode set to air on September 10.

WEDNESDAY:

Royal Pains – The popular USA Network medical drama aired four more new episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 3.6 million
August 13 – 3.2 million
August 20 – 3.2 million
August 27 – 3.3 million

This averages out to 3.3 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Royal Pains just aired on September 4 with the season finale set to air on September 11.

Necessary Roughness – The USA Network drama the final three episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 2.3 million
August 13 – 2.4 million
August 30 – 2.4 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 2.4 million viewers for the month. Necessary Roughness is anticipated to return for another season on the USA Network next summer.

Franklin & Bash – The TNT legal drama aired the final two episodes of its current season in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 2.1 million
August 13 – 2.2 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 2.2 million viewers for the month. Franklin & Bash is anticipated to return to TNT sometime next year.

The Bridge – The new cross-border FX drama aired four new episodes of its de but season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 6 – 1.9 million
August 13 – 1.6 million
August 20 – 1.7 million
August 27 – 1.8 million

This averages out to 1.8 million viewers for the month. The Bridge aired a new episode on September 4 with another new episode set for September 11.

Law & Order: UK – A new season of the BBC America series began on August 7, airing four episodes during the month, but ratings could not be tracked down for any of them.

THURSDAY:

Burn Notice – The popular, long-running USA Network spy drama aired four more new episodes of its final season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 1 – 3.6 million
August 8 – 3.7 million
August 15 – 3.7 million
August 22 – 3.6 million
August 29 – No episode aired

This averages out to 3.7 million viewers for the month. Burn Notice aired a new episode on September 5 with the series finale set to air September 12 at 9 PM on the USA Network

Graceland – The USA Network undercover agent drama aired three new episodes of its debut season during July. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 1 – No episode aired
August 8 – 2.2 million
August 15 – 2 million
August 22 – 2.2 million
August 29 – No episode aired

This averages out to 2.1 million viewers for the month. Graceland aired a new episode on the USA Network on September 5 with the season finale set to air on September 12 at 10 PM on the USA Network.

FRIDAY:

Continuum – The Canadian series aired the final five episodes of its second season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 2 – 1.1 million
August 9 – 1.1 million
August 16 – 1.2 million
August 23 – 1.1 million
August 30 – 1.4 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for the month. The third season of Continuum will air on Syfy sometime in 2014.

Magic City – The Starz period drama aired the final two episodes of the series during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 2 – 564,000 viewers
August 9 – 526,000 viewers (Series Finale)

This averages out to approximately 545,000 viewers for the month. Magic City was cancelled by Starz after two seasons on the air.

Strike Back – The Cinemax espionage series returned on August 16, airing three episodes of its new season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 16 – 364,000 viewers
August 23 – 331,000 viewers
August 30 – No Episode aired

This averages out to 348,000 viewers for the month. Strike Back aired a new episode on Cinemax on September 6 with another new episode set for September 13 on Cinemax at 10 PM.

SATURDAY:

Sinbad – The final five episodes of the one and only season of this Syfy series aired on August 3, averaging 780,000 viewers. There will be no more episodes of Sinbad.

Primeval: New World – The final six episodes of the one and only season of this Canadian series picked up by Syfy aired on August 10, averaging 730,000 viewers. There will be no more episodes of Primeval: New World.

Cedar Cove – The first original scripted drama on the Hallmark Channel aired five new episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 3 – 2 million
August 10 – 2.1 million
August 17 – 2 million
August 24 – 2 million
August 31 – No ratings could be tracked down

This averages out to approximately 2 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Cedar Cove aired on the Hallmark Channel on September 7 with another new episode set to air on September 14 at 8 PM.

Being Human – The UK original supernatural series aired the final three episodes of the series during August. The ratings for these episodes are as follows:

August 3 – 80,000 viewers
August 10 – 120,000 viewers
August 17 – 140,000 viewers (Series Finale)

This averages out to 103,000 viewers for the month. This is the end of the UK original, but the US version of the series is still in production.

Hell on Wheels – The AMC period piece aired four more new episodes from its current during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 10 – 2.5 million (Two-Hour Season Premiere)
August 17 – 1.8 million
August 24 – 2 million
August 31 – No ratings could be tracked down

This averages out to approximately 1.6 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Hell on Wheels aired on the AMC on September 7 with another new episode set to air on September 14 at 10 PM.

The White Queen – The 10-part Starz mini-series debuted on August 10, airing four episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 10 – 457,000 viewers (Series Debut)
August 17 – 801,000 viewers
August 24 – 704,000 viewers
August 30 – No ratings could be tracked down

This averages out to approximately 654,000 viewers for the month. A new episode of The White Queen aired on Starz on September 7 with another new episode set to air on September 14 at 9 PM.

SUNDAY:

The Killing – The AMC drama aired its two-hour season finale on August 4, earning 1.5 million viewers. The network has yet to be announced if The Killing will be renewed for another season yet.

Falling Skies – The TNT alien invasion aired its season finale on August 4, earning 3.7 million viewers. Falling Skies will return next summer to TNT.

True Blood – The HBO vampire drama aired the final three episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 4 – 4.2 million
August 11 – 4 million
August 18 – 4.1 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 4.1 million viewers for the month. The final season of True Blood will air on HBO in 2014.

The Newsroom – The HBO drama aired four more new episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 4 – 1.6 million
August 10 – 1.8 million
August 18 – 1.9 million
August 25 – 1.5 million

This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for the month. A new episode of The Newsroom did not air on September 1, but a new episode aired on September 8. The season finale will air on HBO on September 15 at 10 PM.

Drop Dead Diva – The Lifetime dramedy aired its finale two episodes of the first part of its newly resurrected season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 4 – 2.2 million
August 11 – 2.5 million (Summer Finale)

This averages out to 2.4 million viewers for the month. The next new episode of Drop Dead Diva will air on Lifetime on Sunday, October 6 at 9 PM.

Devious Maids – The Lifetime soap opera aired four more new episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 4 – 2.7 million
August 11 – 2.7 million
August 18 – 2.6 million
August 25 – 2.5 million

This averages out to 2.6 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Devious Maids did not air on September 1, but a new episode aired on September 8. The next new episode will air on September 15 on Lifetime at 10 PM.

Copper – The BBC America period piece drama aired three episodes of its current season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 18 – 395,000 viewers
August 25 – 431,000 viewers

This averages out to 413,000 viewers for the month. A new episode of Copper did not air on September 1, but a new episode aired on September 8. The next new episode will air on BBC America on September 15 at 10 PM.

Dexter – The long-running Showtime drama aired four more new episodes of its current (and final) season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 2.1 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Dexter did not air on September, but a new episode aired on September 8. The next new episode will air on Showtime on September 15 at 9 PM.

Ray Donovan – The Showtime drama aired four more new episodes of its debut season during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 11 – 1.4 million

This averages out to 1.4 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Ray Donovan did not air on September 1, but a new episode aired on September 8. The next new episode will air on Showtime at 10 PM on September 15.

Breaking Bad – The AMC series returned for its final season on August 11, airing three episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 5.2 million viewers for the month. New episodes of Breaking Bad aired on September 1 and September 8 with the next new episode set to air on AMC at 9 PM on September 15.

Low Winter Sun – The new AMC cop drama debuted on August 11, airing three episodes during August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 11 – 2.5 million
August 18 – 1.5 million
August 25 – 1.2 million

This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for the month. New episodes of Low Winter Sun aired on September 1 and September 8 with the next new episode set to air on AMC at 10 PM on September 15.

MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES AND MINI-SERIES

The 3-part mini-series Silk aired on PBS started airing on August 25 (with the two other parts airing on September 1 and September 8), but no ratings for that August airing could be tracked down.

The 10-part mini-series Broadchurch aired on BBC America starting on August 7, airing four episodes during August (with the remainder set to air in September and October), but no ratings for the August airings could be tracked down.
