Hey All,

Here are the news items for today, few though they may be:

TELEVISION

Actress Amy Gumenick, best known for playing Sam and Dean’s mother in Supernatural (she was the younger version of their mom) will recur on the upcoming AMC period drama called Turn that is set in the summer of 1778, centering on farmer Abe Woodhull who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely group of spies who turn the tide in America’s fight for independence. Gumenick will play Philomena, who is quite taken with British Spymaster John Andre (JJ Field from Austenland) and is recruited by him for some undercover work of her own. DEVELOPMENT NEWS

After the success of the History Channel mini-series The Bible, NBC has given the greenlight to a 12-hour mini-series sequel called A.D. Uber-producer/series creator Mark Burnett and his actress wife Roma Downey will be at the helm of this project just like with The Bible with plays to air the mini-series in the spring of 2015. Paley Fest 2014

The Paley Center for Media has announced the first three panels for Paley Fest 2014 as well as the dates of the annual event AND a new venue!!

The first three panels are:

Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family)

American Horror Story: Coven (FX)

Veronica Mars

The festival dates are March 13 through March 28 and the new venue is the Dolby Theatre (formerly the Kodak Theatre) at the Hollywood and Highland Center, right in the heart of Hollywood.

The full list of panels will be announced on January 8.

TV Ratings

As we enter the last week of fall TV and the start of the holiday break, nearly all of the major network dramas have already aired their fall finales. But, there was one more on last night as well as one other new episode of a Monday night drama.

Here is how those Monday night shows fared in the overall ratings:

TELEVSION

Actress Nia Long (Third Watch and House of Lies) has joined the first scripted series from WE TV. The legal thriller called The Divide will center on District Attorney Adam Page (Damon Gupton), who uncovers new evidence that prompts the re-investigation of a sensational murder case. Long will play Billie Page, the DA’s hard-charging wife. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Actresses Morgan Saylor and Morena Baccarin will no longer be series regulars on Homeland. (TV Line and Deadline)

DEVELOPMENT NEWS

Actor Shaun Toub (Homeland) has joined the cast of the NBC pilot Tin Man, which is a futuristic thriller set in the near future, centering on a robot (Patrick Heusinger from Royal Pains) accused of first-degree murder who may hold the key to the future of human evolution, and the female public defender forced to fight for his cause. Toub will play David Dashiell, the CFO for Valence, a multitrillion-dollar corporation that designs and sells cutting-edge robots. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Actress Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) is coming back to TNT, but only on a behind-the-scenes basis in supernatural medical drama project called Proof. The project will center on a skeptical, hard science, female surgeon who’s struggled with family issues including a tragic death. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, haunting, looking for verifiable proof, to try to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something … beyond? (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

BOX OFFICE NEWS

Actress Toni Collette (Hostages) and actor Jack Reynor (the upcoming Transformers movie) will star in the upcoming box office film Pilgrim Hill that follows a young taxi driver (Reynor) who gets tangled up in the world of human trafficking while trying to save his mother (Collette) from addiction. (Nancy Tartaglione at Deadline)

Actress Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) has landed the coveted role of Sarah Connor in the reboot of the legendary Terminator franchise. (Dave McNary at Variety)

Now that the TV season is nearly at a close for the holidays, last night’s programming on the major networks was filled with sports, animation and reality with only a few new episodes airing.
