Hey All,
Here are the news items for today, few though they may be:
TELEVISION
Sundance TV has renewed The Red Road for a second season. It will return with six episodes sometime in 2015. (Lesley Goldberg at The Hollywood Reporter)
A&E has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order for an adaptation of the acclaimed French drama The Returned with Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel and Lost) and Raelle Tucker (True Blood) as writers/executive producers. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)
NOTE: Quite frankly, we don’t need an adaptation of this series. The original will be far better and network TV already has a less-than-stellar version of this story in the form of Resurrection that will be ending on ABC next weekend. Just my opinion.
MADE-FOR-TV MOVIE NEWS
FOX has announced they will broadcast the first-ever three-hour LIVE production of Grease in 2015. Casting has to be made, but the made-for-TV movie musical will feature a young ensemble cast. (The Futon Critic)
BOX OFFICE NEWS
Casting for the new Star Wars film has been announced with actors John Boyega (Attack the Block and 24: Live Another Day), Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) and Domhnall Gleeson (About Time); relative newcomer Daisy Ridley, actor Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings franchise) as well as veteran Max von Sydow joining original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. The movie is set to open worldwide on December 18, 2015. (StarWars.com)
That’s it. Enjoy!
