Actor Neal McDonough (Justified) has landed a recurring role on Suits for its upcoming fourth season. He will play Sean Cahill, who is not so much an SEC investigator as he is a bulldog. He is tasked by Eric Woodall (guest star Zeljko Ivanek) to uncover wrongdoing at Pearson Specter. Suits is back with a new season starting on June 11. (The Deadline Team)
Syfy has acquired the US cable rights to all 39 episode of Spartacus with the first episode set to air on the cable network on June 26 after the return of Defiance and the debut of the new drama Dominion. (Laura Prudom at Variety)
Actor Neil Jackson is set to return to Sleepy Hollow for the show’s second season in major recurring arc as Abraham Von Brunt aka the Headless Horseman. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)
The Canadian channel Space has renewed the supernatural series Bitten for a second 10-episode season. No word on whether Syfy has picked up the US rights yet. (TV Guide Canada)
WE TV has given the greenlight to its second scripted drama, this one from Eli Roth and Jason Blum. The eight-episode thriller South Of Hell is will be set in Savannah, Georgia, focusing on Maria Abascal, a demon hunter whose power stems from within. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)
MADE-FOR-TV MOVIE NEWS
Actresses Mo’Nique (Precious) and Khandi Alexander (Scandal) will co-star opposite Queen Latifah in the upcoming HBO biopic about iconic blues singer Bessie Smith. Latifah will appear in the lead role while Mo’Nique will play Ma Rainey, one of the first professional blues singers billed as The Mother of the Blues while Alexander will play Bessie’s older sister, Viola.
