Based on information provided by the Box Office Mojo and some internet research, here are just some of the movies you can expect to see in the movie theatres in July:
Earth to Echo
Opens: July 2
Tuck (Astro), Munch (Reese Hartwig) and Alex (Teo Halm) are a closely bonded trio of inseparable friends, but their time together is coming to an end. Their neighborhood is being destroyed by a highway construction project that is forcing their families to move away. But just two days before they must part ways, the boys find a cryptic signal has infected their phones. Convinced something bigger is going on and looking for one final adventure together, they set off to trace the messages to their source and discover something beyond their wildest imaginations: hiding in the darkness is a mysterious being, stranded on Earth, and wanted by the government. This launches the boys on an epic journey full of danger and wonder, one that will test the limits of their friendship and change all of their lives forever.

Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her long-time boyfriend Dave (Maroon 5 and The Voice’s Adam Levine) are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who head to New York when he lands a deal with a major label. But the trappings of his new-found fame soon tempt Dave to stray, and a reeling, lovelorn Gretta is left on her own. Her world takes a turn for the better when Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record-label exec, stumbles upon her performing on an East Village stage and is immediately captivated by her raw talent. From this chance encounter emerges an enchanting portrait of a mutually transformative collaboration, set to the soundtrack of a summer in New York City. The cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, CeeLo Green, Mos Def, James Corden and Catherine Keener.

A self-centered realtor enlists the help of his neighbor when he’s suddenly left in charge of the granddaughter he never knew existed until his estranged son drops her off at his home. The film stars Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Opens: July 11
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar (Andy Serkis) is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species. The cast includes Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Kirk Acevedo as well as Judy Greer and Toby Kebbell, the last two appearing as apes.
Road to Paloma
Opens: July 11
Jason Momoa directed and co-wrote this film as well as stars as Wolf, a Native American on the run after avenging his mother’s murder. As he flees across the desolate American West on his motorcycle, he’ll discover that justice has a cost. Wolf’s search for redemption will reveal secrets and take him on a journey where the roads have some very unexpected turns. The cast includes Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest), Lisa Bonet (The Cosby Show and The Red Road), Michael Raymond-James (True Blood and Once Upon a Time) and Wes Studi (The Last of the Mohicans and Avatar).
I Origins
Opens: July 18
The film follows a molecular biologist (Michael Pitt from Hannibal) whose study of the human eye points to evidence with far reaching implications about our scientific and spiritual beliefs. The cast includes Brit Marling (Another Earth), Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) and William Mapother (Lost).
Planes: Fire and Rescue
Opens: July 18
This animated film is about what happens when world famous air racer Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of wildfire air attack. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (Ed Harris) and his courageous air attack team, including spirited super scooper Lil’ Dipper (Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (Wes Studi), ex-military transport Cabbie (Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire, and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero. Other voices will be provided by Curtis Armstrong, Regina King, Fred Willard, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara, Erik Estrada, Barry Corbin, Hal Holbrook and Patrick Warburton.
Hercules
Opens: July 25
Having completed his legendary twelve labors, Hercules (Dwayne Johnson), the Greek demigod, has his life as a sword-for-hire tested when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord. The cast includes Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, John Hurt, Reece Ritchie and Joseph Fiennes.
