Here are the news items for today, few though they are:

TELEVISION

Veteran actress Carol Kane (The Princess Bride) will have a recurring role on this fall’s much anticipated new drama Gotham playing Gertrud Kapleput, the mother of Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin (played by series regular Robin Lord Taylor). Also actor (and Disney Channel staple) Kyle Massey (That’s So Raven) will have a recurring role in the series, playing Macky, a neglected/abused kid who lives on the streets of Gotham. Actress Georgina Haig (Fringe and Reckless) has landed the plum role of Elsa, the Queen or Arendelle from the box office movie Frozen, in the upcoming season of Once Upon a Time. (Chris Harnick at E! Online)

Actor Peter Stormare (Prison Break and The Blacklist) will play Werner Zytle in season three of Arrow. In the comics world, Zytle is actually Count Vertigo; in the series he will be introduced as the new purveyor of the drug Vertigo, filling the role left vacant since the death of The Count (recurring guest star Seth Gabel). Zytle will go by the moniker Vertigo. (Natalie Abrams at TV Guide)
