(Michael Slezak at TV Line)
Actress Marin Ireland (Homeland and the upcoming mini-series The Divide) will have a recurring role on Masters of Sex, playing Pauline, the wife of Frank (Christian Borle). The couple comes to town seeking Masters’ help in conceiving a child. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)
Actress Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost and Revolution) has joined the cast of Once Upon a Time where she will play a part of the much-anticipated Frozen-inspired storyline, but specifics on what role she will play are being kept under wraps, but it is known that she will play a “villainous character”. DEVELOPMENT NEWS
Author Gillian Flynn (“Gone Girl”) is teaming with Entertainment One and producers Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity) to bring her debut novel Sharp Objects to TV. The book centers on reporter Camille Preaker — fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital — who faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family’s Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story—and survive this homecoming. No deal with any studio or network has been made yet, though. (Lesley Goldberg at The Hollywood Reporter)
