Hey All,

Here are the few news items for today:

TELEVISION

Actor Luke Mitchell (The Tomorrow People) will appear in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., playing charismatic Inhuman Lincoln, who has an important role to play in Skye’s (series regular Chloe Bennet) understanding the true extent of her transformation. SHIELD will be back on March 3 on ABC. (Denise Petski at Deadline)

A&E may have pulled the plug on The Glades and Longmire, but they seem ready to help an underdog CBS series. The cabler will be reviving the cop procedural Unforgettable for a 13-episode fourth season. (Variety Staff)

BOX OFFICE NEWS

Actor James Badge Dale (Iron Man 3 and 24) will star in the Michael Bay film 13 Hours that will chronicle the deadly assault on the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi. It will be told from the perspective of the six-member security team that fought to protect the other people stationed there. He will play the leader of the security team that tries to protect U.S. lives in the assault. John Krasinski (The Office) will co-star. (Mike Fleming, Jr at Deadline)

TELEVISION

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and singer-actress Rita Ora will both guest star in upcoming episodes of the new FOX drama Empire; but details about their roles are being kept under wraps. (Sadie Genis at TV Guide and E! News)

Actor Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) will have a multi-episode recurring role in the FOX drama Gotham, playing Jason Lennon, a.k.a. The Ogre, [but he is not the same Ogre as the DC Comics character Ogre]. (Movie Web)

Bravo has given a second season order to Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce. (Tierney Bricker at E! Online)

Being Mary Jane has been given a second season order by BET. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Actress Mira Sorvino (Falling Skies and Intruders) will have a recurring role on the CBS drama Stalker, playing Vicki Gregg, a well-respected FBI agent who began her career at TAU and once ran the division. She returns to help the team when Beth’s (series lead Maggie Q) stalker escalates. (Nellie Andreeva at Deadline)

Actor Derek Luke (Hawthorne) will star opposite Thandie Newton and Cole Hauser in the third season of the DirecTV drama Rogue. He will play Marlon Dinard, the leader of the 13th Street Kings, a powerful street gang. (Denise Petski at Deadline)

It’s almost hard to believe that we are halfway through the 2014-2015 TV season, but we are. That doesn’t mean, though, that there aren’t plenty of shows to enjoy on the cable networks; nor does it mean that the made-for-TV movies, mini-series and/or event series have dried up either.

Here are the ratings for the cable dramas and more for January:

CABLE DRAMAS

MONDAYS:

Major Crimes – The TNT drama aired its final three episodes of its third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 5 – 4.3 million
January 12 – 3.7 million (Part 1 of Season Finale)
January 12 – 3.5 million (Part 2 of Season Finale)

This averages out to 3.8 million viewers for January. Major Crimes will be back this summer for its fourth season on TNT.

Eye Candy – The new MTV thriller debuted on January 12, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 12 – 589,000 viewers (Series Premiere)
January 19 – 626,000 viewers
January 26 – 521,000 viewers

This averages out to 579,000 viewers for January. A new episode of Eye Candy aired on MTV on February 2 with the next new episode set to air on Monday, February 9 at 10 PM.

The Fosters – The family drama returned to ABC Family on January 19, airing two episodes of its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 19 – 1.4 million (Mid-Season Premiere)
January 26 – 1.2 million

This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for January. A new episode of The Fosters aired on ABC Family on February 2 with the next new episode set to air on Monday, February 9 at 8 PM.

Chasing Life – The ABC Family drama returned for the rest of its debut season on January 19, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 19 – 1 million (Mid-Season Premiere)
January 26 – 782,000 viewers

This averages out to 891,000 viewers for January. A new episode of Chasing Life aired on ABC Family on February 2 with the next new episode set to air on Monday, February 9 at 9 PM.

TUESDAYS:

Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce – The first scripted drama on Bravo aired four new episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 6 – 873,000 viewers
January 13 – 773,000 viewers
January 20 – 687,000 viewers
January 27 – 911,000 viewers

This averages out to 811,000 viewers for January. A new episode of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce aired on Bravo on February 3 with the next new episode set to air on Tuesday, February 10 at 10 PM.

The Haves and Have Nots – The OWN soap opera returned for its third season starting on January 6, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 6 – 3.2 million (Season Premiere)
January 13 – 2.9 million
January 20 – 2.6 million
January 27 – 3 million

This averages out to 2.9 million viewers for January. A new episode of The Haves and Have Nots aired on OWN on February 3 with the next new episode set to air on Tuesday, February 10 at 9 PM.

Pretty Little Liars – The long-running ABC Family soap opera returned for the rest of its fifth season on January 6, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 6 – 2 million (Mid-Season Return)
January 13 – 2 million
January 20 – 1.7 million
January 27 – 2 million

This averages out to 1.9 million viewers for January. A new episode of Pretty Little Liars aired on ABC Family on February 3 with the next new episode set to air on Tuesday, February 10 at 8 PM.

Switched at Birth – This ABC Family drama returned for the start of its fourth season on January 6, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 6 – 1.3 million (Season Premiere)
January 13 – 1.2 million
January 20 – 1.2 million
January 27 – 1.3 million

This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for January. A new episode of Switched at Birth aired on ABC Family on February 3 with the next new episode set to air on Tuesday, February 10 at 9 PM.

Justified – The long-running FX series returned for its sixth and final season on January 20, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 20 – 2.2 million (Season Premiere)
January 27 – 1.7 million

This averages out to 2 million viewers for January. A new episode of Justified aired on FX on February 3 with the next new episode set to air on Tuesday, February 10 at 10 PM.

WEDNESDAYS:

American Horror Story: Freak Show – The FX anthology series aired the final three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 7 – 3.1 million
January 14 – 2.9 million
January 21 – 3.3 million (Season Finale)

This averages out to 3.1 million viewers for January. A fifth season of American Horror Story will air on FX during the 2015-2016 TV season.

Hindsight – The new VH1 time-travel drama debuted on January 7, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 7 – 367,000 viewers (Series Premiere)
January 14 – 226,000 viewers
January 21 – 242,000 viewers
January 28 – 320,000 viewers

This averages out to 289,000 viewers for January. A new episode of Hindsight aired on VH1 on February 4 with the next new episode set to air on Wednesday, February 11 at 9 PM (its new timeslot).

Suits – The USA Network legal drama returned for the rest of its fourth season on January 28, earning 1.9 million viewers. A new episode of Suits aired on the USA Network on February 4 with the next new episode set to air on Wednesday, February 11 at 10 PM.

THURSDAYS:

Babylon – The new Sundance dramedy debuted on January 8, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 8 – 91,000 viewers (DEBUT)
January 15 – 63,000 viewers
January 22 – 61,000 viewers
January 29 – No numbers could be tracked down

This averages out to approximately 72,000 viewers for January. A new episode of Babylon aired on Sundance on February 5 with the season finale set to air on Thursday, February 12 at 10 PM.

Fortitude – The new Pivot event series debuted on January 29, earning 722,000 viewers. A new episode of Fortitude aired on Pivot on February 5 with next new episode set to air on Thursday, February 12 at 10 PM.

FRIDAYS:

Banshee – The Cinemax drama returned for its third season, starting on January 9, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 9 – 547,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
January 16 – 439,000 viewers
January 23 – 588,000 viewers
January 30 – 662,000 viewers

This averages out to 559,000 viewers for January. The next new episodes of Banshee will air on Cinemax on Friday, February 6 at 10 PM.

12 Monkeys – The new Syfy series, based on the box office film, debuted on January 16, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those are as follows:

January 16 – 1.4 million (DEBUT)
January 23 – 1.1 million
January 30 – 903,000 viewers

This averages out to 1.1 million viewers for January. The next new episode of 12 Monkeys will air on Syfy on Friday, February 6 at 9 PM.

Helix – The Syfy thriller returned for the start of its second season on January 16, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 16 – 1 million (Season Premiere)
January 23 – 697,000 viewers
January 30 – 634,000 viewers

This averages out to 777,000 viewers for January. The next new episodes of Helix will air on Syfy on Friday, February 6 at 10 PM.

SATURDAYS:

Transporter: The Series – The second season of Transporter: The Series aired five new episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 3 – 772,000 viewers
January 10 – 788,000 viewers
January 17 – 774,000 viewers
January 24 – 1 million
January 31 – 1.3 million

This averages out to 927,000 viewers for January. The final two episodes of Transporter: The Series will air on TNT on February 7 at 9 and 10 PM.

The Missing – The new Starz mini-series The Missing aired its final two episodes of its debut during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 3 – 137,000 viewers
January 10 – 161,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to approximately 149,000 viewers for January. Starz gave an order for a second season of The Missing, but an official airdate has yet to be announced.

Black Sails – The Starz drama returned for its second season on January 24, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 24 – 860,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
January 31 – 746,000 viewers

This averages out to approximately 803,000 viewers for January. The next new episode of Black Sails will air on Starz on Saturday, February 7 at 9 PM.

The Musketeers – The BBC America period piece drama returned for its second season on January 17, airing three episodes during the month; but ratings for those episode could not be tracked down. The next new episode of The Musketeers will air on BBC America on Saturday, February 7 at 9 PM.

SUNDAYS:

The Librarians – The TNT series, based on the network’s trilogy of films, aired its final five episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 4 – 3.7 million
January 11 – 3.4 million
January 11 – 2.9 million
January 18 – 3.3 million
January 18 – 3 million (Finale)

This averages out to 3.3 million viewers for January. TNT has yet to announce if The Librarians has been renewed for a second season.

Downton Abbey – The international hit series returned to PBS for its fifth season on January 4, earning 10.1 million viewers for its season premiere. It has also aired three more new episodes during the month, but ratings for those episodes could not be tracked down. The next new episode of Downton Abbey will air on PBS on Sunday, February 8 at 9 PM.

MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES AND MINI-SERIES

There were a dozen made-for-TV movies and mini-series that aired on the cable networks during January. Here is a list of those that could be found:

Sons of Liberty Mini-Series (History Channel) – 3.1 million (average for 3 nights)
Surprised By Love (Hallmark Channel) – 2.4 million
With This Ring (Lifetime) – 2.4 million
A Novel Romance (Hallmark Channel) – 2.2 million
