As we work our way through summer, there were plenty of programming options for TV viewers in July. Besides lots of dramas to watch there were quite a number of made-for-TV movies, mini-series and events series as well. Here are the ratings for the month:
CABLE DRAMAS
MONDAYS:
Devious Maids – The Lifetime soap opera aired four more new episodes of its current, third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 6 – 1.3 million
July 13 – 1.4 million
July 20 – 1.2 million
July 27 – 1.3 million
This average out to 1.3 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Devious Maids aired during August with the season finale set to air on Lifetime on August 24 at 9 PM.
UnReal – The new Lifetime reality-esque series aired four more new episodes of its debut season during July as well as its season finale on August 3. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 6 – 739,000 viewers
July 13 – 713,000 viewers
July 20 – 731,000 viewers
July 27 – 572,000 viewers
August 3 -790,000 viewers (Season Finale)
This averages out to 709,000 viewers for the time period. UnReal has been renewed by Lifetime for a second season; and will, most likely, return next summer.
The Fosters – The ABC Family drama aired three more new episodes of its current, third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 6 – 1.3 million
July 13 – 1.3 million
July 20 – 1.3 million
July 27 – No episode aired
This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for July. The final three episodes, including the summer finale, aired in August and those ratings will be provided next month. The Fosters is expected to return for the remainder of its third season sometime in 2016 on ABC Family.
Major Crimes – The crime drama aired four new episodes of its current, fourth season during July with the final two episodes airing in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 6 – 4 million
July 13 – 4.2 million
July 20 – 4.3 million
July 27 – 4.4 million
August 3 – 4.6 million
August 10 – 4.5 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 4.3 million viewers for the time period. Major Crimes will return for the rest of its fourth season on TNT sometime this winter.
Murder in the First – The TNT drama aired four more new episodes of its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 6 – 2 million
July 13 – 2 million
July 20 – 1.9 million
July 27 – 2.2 million
This averages out to 2 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Murder in the First aired during August with season finale set to air on TNT on August 24 at 10 PM.
Teen Wolf – The MTV thriller aired four more new episodes of its current, fifth season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 6 – 1.4 million
July 13 – 1 million
July 20 – 1.3 million
July 27 – 1.1 million
This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Teen Wolf aired during August with the summer finale set to air on MTV on August 24 at 10 PM.
Chasing Life – The ABC Family drama returned for the start of its second season on July 6, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 6 – 723,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
July 13 – 785,000 viewers
July 20 – 719,000 viewers
July 27 – 601,000 viewers
This averages out to 707,000 viewers for July. Three new episodes of Chasing Life aired during August with the next new episode set to air on August 24 on ABC Family at 9 PM.
TUESDAYS:
Pretty Little Liars – The ABC Family soap opera aired three more new episodes of its current, fifth season during July with its final two episodes before its summer break in August . The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – No episode aired
July 14 – 1.7 million
July 21 – 1.8 million
July 28 – 1.6 million
August 4 – 2 million
August 11 – 3.1 million (Summer Finale)
This averages out 2 million viewers for the time period. Pretty Little Liars will return for the rest of its fifth season, most likely, in early 2016 on ABC Family.
Stitchers – The new ABC Family aired four more new episodes of its debut season during July with its season finale airing on August 4. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – 711,000 viewers
July 14 – 636,000 viewers
July 21 – 684,000 viewers
July 28 – 842,000 viewers
August 4 – 805,000 viewers (Season Finale)
This averages out to 736,000 viewers for the time period. Stitchers has been renewed for a second season on ABC Family; and will most likely return next summer.
Royal Pains – The long-running USA Network drama returned for the start of its 7th season on June 2, airing five episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – 1.5 million
July 14 – 1.3 million
July 21 – 1.6 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.5 million viewers for July. A decision on an 8th season for Royal Pains has yet to be made by the USA Network.
Rizzoli & Isles – The long-running TNT crime drama aired four more new episodes of its current, sixth season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – 4.4 million
July 14 – 4.1 million
July 21 – 4.2 million
July 28 – 4.4 million
This averages out to 4.3 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Rizzoli & Isles aired during August with the next new episode set to air on TNT on August 25 at 9 PM.
Proof – The new TNT drama aired four more new episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – 2.1 million
July 14 – 1.8 million
July 21 – 1.8 million
July 28 – 2.1 million
This averages out to 2 million viewers for July. Proof aired the final three episodes of its freshman season, including a two-part finale, during August. Those ratings will be provided in next month’s report. Proof has yet to be renewed for a second season by TNT.
Tyrant – The FX drama aired four more new episodes of its current, second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – 1.2 million
July 14 – 1.2 million
July 21 – 1.1 million
July 28 – 1.2 million
This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Tyrant aired during August with the next new episode set to air on FX on August 25 at 10 PM.
The Haves and Have Nots – The OWN soap opera aired four more new episodes of its current, third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – 2.8 million
July 14 – 3.2 million
July 21 – 2.9 million

This averages out to 3 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of the The Haves and Have Nots aired on OWN during August with the next new episode set to air on August 25 at 9 PM.
Scream: The TV Series – The small screen adaptation of the movie franchise aired four more new episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 7 – 811,000 viewers
July 14 – 872,000 viewers
July 21 – 802,000 viewers
July 28 – 751,000 viewers
This averages out to 809,000 viewers in July. Three new episodes of Scream: The TV Series aired on MTV during August with the next new episode set to air on August 25 at 10 PM.
WEDNESDAYS:
Deutschland 83 – The 1980’s set SundanceTV drama aired six more episodes from its debut season, including its season finale during July and August 5. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 1 – 77,000 viewers
July 8 – 100,000 viewers
July 15 – 143,000 viewers
July 22 – 82,000 viewers
July 29 – 72,000 viewers
August 5 – 107,000 viewers (Season Finale)
This averages out to 97,000 viewers for the time period. SundanceTV has yet to announce if Deutschland 83 will return for a second season.
Suits – The USA Network aired five more new episodes of its current, fifth season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 2.2 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Suits aired on the USA Network during August with the season finale set to air on August 26 at 9 PM.
Mr. Robot – The new USA Network drama aired five more new episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 1.4 million for July. Three new episodes of Mr. Robot aired on the USA Network during August with the season finale set to air on August 26 at 10 PM.
Rogue – The DirecTV drama aired five more new episodes of its current, third season during July, but ratings for those episodes could not be tracked. Four new episodes of the show aired during July with the next new episode set to air on August 26 at 9 PM.
THURSDAYS:
Complications – The new USA Network medical drama aired five more new episodes of its debut season during July as well as its final two episodes at the beginning of August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 2 – 1.5 million
July 9 – 1.5 million
July 16 – 1.3 million
July 23 – 1.2 million
July 30 – 1.4 million
August 6 – 1.2 million
August 13 – 1.4 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.4 million viewers for the time period. The USA Network has yet to announce if Complications will be renewed for second season yet.
Graceland – The USA Network drama aired five more new episodes of its current, third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 845,000 viewers for July. Three new episodes of Graceland aired in August with the next new episode set to air on the USA Network on August 27 at 10 PM.
Rectify – The SundanceTV drama returned for its third season on July 9, airing four episodes during that month and its final two episodes at the beginning of August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 9 – 224,000 viewers (Season Premiere)

This averages out to 154,000 viewers for the time period. SundanceTV has renewed Rectify for a fourth season, but an official airdate has yet to be announced.
Dominion – The Syfy apocalyptic drama returned for its second season on July 9, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

Strike Back – The Cinemax action drama returned for its fourth and final season, starting on July 31, earning 237,000 viewers. Two new episodes of Strike Back aired on Cinemax during August with the next new episode set to air on August 21 at 10 PM.
SATURDAYS:
Power – The Starz drama aired three more new episodes of its current second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 4 – No episode aired
July 11 – 1.2 million
July 18 – 1.2 million
July 25 – 1.3 million
This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for June. Three new episodes of Power, including the show’s season finale aired during August. Those numbers will be posted in next month’s report. Power has been renewed for a third season by Starz, but an official airdate has yet to be announced
Atlantis – The BBC America period piece drama aired the final six episodes of its current, and what appears to be its final season during July and for the first two weeks in August. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 4 – 152,000 viewers
July 11 – 189,000 viewers
July 18 – 85,000 viewers
July 25 – 117,000 viewers
August 1 – 166,000 viewers
August 8 – 114,000 viewers (Series Finale)
This averages out to approximately 137,000 viewers for that time period.
Hell on Wheels – The AMC western drama returned for its fifth and final season on July 18, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 18 – 2.1 million (Season Premiere)
July 25 – 1.6 million
This averages out to 1.9 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Hell on Wheels aired during August with the next new episode set to air on AMC on August 22 at 9 PM.
Cedar Cove – The family-friendly Hallmark Channel drama returned for its third season with a two-hour premiere on July 18 and a new one-hour episode on July 25. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 18 – 1.5 million (Two-Hour Season Premiere)
July 25 – 1.6 million
This averages out to 1.6 million viewers for July. Three new episodes of Cedar Cove aired during August with the next new episode set to air on August 22 on Hallmark Channel at 8 PM.

Halt and Catch Fire – The AMC 80’s themed series aired four more new episodes of its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
July 5 – 558,000 viewers

This averages out to 525,000 viewers for June. AMC has yet to announce if Halt and Catch Fire will be back for a third season.
