Summer TV is nearly at an end with the new fall TV season only a few weeks away. Despite that there were still plenty of cable dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series airing during August. Here are the ratings for the month:
CABLE DRAMAS
MONDAYS:
Devious Maids – The Lifetime soap opera aired the final four episodes of its current, third season – including the season finale – during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 1.4 million
August 10 – 1.4 million
August 17 – 1.5 million
August 24 – 1.5 million (Season Finale)
This average out to 1.5 million viewers for August. Lifetime has yet to announce if Devious Maids will return for a fourths season.
The Fosters – The ABC Family drama aired the finale three episodes of its current, third season – including the summer finale – during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 1.2 million
August 10 – 1.1 million
August 17 – 1.2 million (Summer Finale)
This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for August. The Fosters is expected to return for the rest of its third season on ABC Family either later this year or sometime in 2016.
Murder in the First – The TNT drama aired the final four episodes of its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 2.1 million
August 10 – 2 million
August 17 – 1.9 million
August 24 – 1.8 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2 million viewers for August. TNT has yet to renew Murder in the First for a third season.
Teen Wolf – The MTV thriller aired four more new episodes of its current, fifth season – including its summer finale, during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 1.1 million
August 10 – 1.1 million
August 17 – 1.1 million
August 24 – 958,000 viewers (Summer Finale)
This averages out to 1.1 million viewers for August. Teen Wolf should return for the remainder of its fifth season sometime next year, but an official airdate has yet to be announced by MTV.
Chasing Life – The ABC Family drama aired five new episodes of its current, second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 3 – 611,000 viewers
August 10 – 752,000 viewers
August 17 – 754,000 viewers
August 24 – 772,000 viewers
August 31 – 642,000 viewers
This averages out to 706,000 viewers for August. The next new episode of Chasing Life will air on ABC Family on September 7 at 9 PM.
Switched at Birth – The ABC Family drama returned for the rest of its current, fourth season on August 24, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 24 – 979,000 viewers (Mid-Season Premiere)
August 31 – 871,000 viewers
This averages out to 925,000 viewers for August. The next new episode of Switched at Birth will air on ABC Family on September 7 at 8 PM.
TUESDAYS:
Rizzoli & Isles – The long-running TNT crime drama aired five more new episodes of its current, sixth season, including its mid-season finale, throughout August and into the beginning of September. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 4 – 4.2 million
August 11 – 4.3 million
August 18 – 4.5 million
August 25 – 4.6 million
September 1 – 4.7 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 4.5 million viewers for the time period. Rizzoli & Isles will return to TNT this fall for the rest of its sixth season.
Proof – The new TNT drama aired the final three episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 4 – 2 million
August 11 – 3.1 million (Part 1 of Season Finale)
August 18 – 2.1 million (Part 2 of Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.4 million viewers for August. Proof has yet to be renewed for a second season by TNT.
Tyrant – The FX drama aired the final five episodes of its current, second season throughout August and into the beginning of September. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 4 – 1.1 million
August 11 – 1.3 million
August 18 – 1.2 million
August 24 – 1.2 million
September 1 – 1.3 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for the time period. Tyrant has yet to be renewed for a third season by FX.
The Haves and Have Nots – The OWN soap opera aired four more new episodes of its current, second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 4 – 3.2 million
August 11 – 3.1 million
August 18 – 3.1 million
August 24 – 3.2 million
This averages out to 3.2 million viewers for August. A new episode of The Haves and Have Nots aired on OWN on September 1 with the next new episode set to air on September 8 at 9 PM.
Scream: The TV Series – The small screen adaptation of the movie franchise aired the final five episodes of its debut season throughout August and in the beginning of September. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 4 – 684,000 viewers
August 11 – 639,000 viewers
August 18 – 645,000 viewers
August 24 – 554,000 viewers
September 1 – 756,000 viewers (Season Finale)
This averages out to 656,000 viewers during the time period. Scream: The TV Series has been renewed for a second season by MTV, but an official airdate has yet to be announced.
Public Morals – The new period piece TNT drama debuted on August 25, earning 2.1 million viewers. A new episode aired on September 1 with the next new episode set to air on TNT on September 8 at 10 PM.
WEDNESDAYS:
Suits – The USA Network aired four more episodes of its current, fifth season, including summer finale, during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 2.1 million
August 12 – 2.3 million
August 19 – 3 million
August 26 – 2.3 million (Summer Finale)
This averages out to 2.4 million viewers for August. Suits will return for the rest of its fifth season on the USA Network sometime this winter, but an exact date has yet to be announced.
Mr. Robot – The new USA Network drama aired the finale four episodes of its debut season throughout August with the season finale airing at the beginning of September due to a postponement. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 5 – 1.2 million
August 12 – 1.2 million
August 19 – 1.3 million
August 26 – Episode was postponed
September 2 – 1.2 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.2 million for the time period. Mr. Robot was renewed for a second season by the USA Network.
Ties That Bind – The first original scripted drama on the UP Channel debuted on August 12, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 12 – 449,000 viewers (Series Debut)
August 19 – 200,000 viewers
August 26 – 180,000 viewers
This averages out to 276,000 viewers for August. A new episode of Ties That Bind aired on September 2 with the next new episode of the debut season will air on the UP Channel on September 9 at 9 PM.
Rogue – The DirecTV drama aired five more new episodes of its current, third season during August, but ratings for those episodes could not be tracked. A date for the next new episode of Rogue have yet to be announced.
THURSDAYS:
Graceland – The USA Network drama aired four more new episodes of its current, third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 6 – 639,000 viewers
August 13 – 745,000 viewers
August 20 – 961,000 viewers
August 27 – 906,000 viewers
This averages out to 813,000 viewers for August. A new episode of Graceland aired on September 3 with the next new episode set to air on the USA Network on September 10 at 10 PM.
Dominion – The Syfy apocalyptic drama aired four more new episodes of its current, second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 6 – 941,000 viewers
August 13 – 919,000 viewers
August 20 – 837,000 viewers
August 26 – 749,000 viewers
This averages out to 862,000 viewers for August. A new episode of Dominion aired on September 3 with the next new episode set to air on Syfy on September 10 at 10 PM.

Defiance – The Syfy series aired the final four episodes of its current, third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for August. Syfy has yet to announce if they will renew Defiance or not.

This averages out to 961,000 viewers for August. Killjoys was renewed for a second season by Syfy, but an official airdate has yet to be announced.
Dark Matter – The Syfy series aired the final five episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

Strike Back – The Cinemax action drama aired four more new episodes of its fourth and final season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

This averages out to 238,000 viewers for August. A marathon of Strike Back episodes aired on Cinemax on September 4 with the next new episode set to air on September 11 at 10 PM.
SATURDAYS:
Power – The Starz drama aired the final three episodes of its current, second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
August 1 – 1 million
August 8 – 1.4 million
August 15 – 1.5 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for August. Power has been renewed for a third season by Starz, but an official airdate has yet to be announced
Hell on Wheels – The AMC western drama aired five more episodes of its fifth and final season – including the mid-season finale – during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 15 – 1.9 million

Fear the Walking Dead – The AMC spin-off series debuted on August 23, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

August 30 – 8.2 million
This averages out to 9.2 million viewers for August. A new episode of Fear the Walking Dead will air on AMC on September 13.

There were a little over a dozen made-for-TV movies and/or mini-series that aired on the cable networks during August, but the only one for which ratings could be found was the following:
