Here is the very long list of programming option to expect on TV this coming week:
Both Gotham and Lucifer will return for new seasons on FOX on September 19 at 8 PM and 9 PM respectively. That same night, the mid-season finale of Major Crimes will air at 10 PM on TNT.
On September 20, the season premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air on ABC at 10 PM while the season two premiere of Scream Queens will air that same night at 9 PM on FOX.
Also on September 20, the new NBC drama This Is Us will debut will debut at 10 PM. This series follows a unique ensemble whose paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways. We find several of them share the same birthday, and so much more than anyone would expect.
And that same night, NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans return to CBS at 8 PM and 10 PM respectively with the new drama Bull in the middle at 9 PM. Bull is inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the founder of one of the most prolific trial consulting firms of all time. Brilliant, brash and charming, Dr. Bull (former NCIS star Michael Weatherly) is the ultimate puppet master as he combines psychology, human intuition and high tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick.
On September 21, the new ABC drama Designated Survivor will debut at 10 PM. Kiefer Sutherland stars as Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who unexpectedly becomes President after a devastating attack on Washington. He will struggle to prevent the country and his own family from falling into chaos, as he is thrust into one of the most difficult presidencies in history.
That same night will find Blindspot moving to its regular time slot of 8 PM on NBC followed by the season premieres of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Chicago P.D. at 9 PM and 10 PM respectively.
And also on September 21, the new FOX drama Lethal Weapon (based on the box office film) will debut at 8 PM followed by the season premiere of Empire at 9 PM. Lethal Weapon is the small screen adaptation follows classic cop duo Marin Riggs (Clayne Crawford from Rectify) and Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans, Sr. from My Wife and Kids), who are working a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles.
On September 22, the season premieres of Chicago Med and The Blacklist will air on NBC at 9 PM and 10 PM respectively. While that same night, the second season premiere of Rosewood will air at 8 PM on FOX followed by the debut of the new drama Pitch at 9 PM. Pitch follows a young pitcher who becomes the first woman to play Major League Baseball. Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury from Under The Dome and Twisted) is vaulted into instant fame when she’s called up by the San Diego Padres to make her Major League debut.
And also on September 22, Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder will return for their season premieres on ABC at 8 PM and 10 PM respectively with the new drama Notorious taking over the 9 PM timeslot. This new series is inspired by the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker with Piper Perabo (Covert Affairs) and Daniel Sunjata (Graceland) in the lead roles.
On September 23, the new Syfy thriller Van Helsing is supposed to air double episode debut at 10 PM. The series revolves around unlikely heroine Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton, from True Blood), who unexpectedly discovers that she holds the key to humanity’s survival: her own blood. Gifted with not only an immunity to vampires, Vanessa is also capable of taking out her bloodthirsty foes by turning them into humans with her bite. Now both prey and predator, Vanessa sinks her teeth into her role as humanity’s leader – and secret weapon – in their resistance against the vampires that plagued their world.
Also that same night (September 23), the reboot of the classic series MacGyver will debut at 8 PM on CBS followed by the season premieres of Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods at 9 PM and 10 PM respectively. MacGyver is a new adaptation of the classic series, this version focuses on 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver (Lucas Till from The X-Men franchise) who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Jack Dalton(George Eads from CSI). Under the aegis of the Department of External Affairs, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip.
We aren’t done with September 23 just yet, as the FOX thriller The Exorcist, based on the classic film of the same name, will debut at 9 PM. The Exorcist follows two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession. And, that same night will find the fifth season of Longmire premiering on Netflix.
The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Lost Without You will debut on September 25 at 9 PM. A battered package turns up in a prop mailbox on the set of a Denver-based commercial, prompting Oliver O’ Toole (Eric Mabius), strait-laced leader of a team of postal detectives, to open an investigation to track down its intended recipient. Working closely with technophile Shane McInerney (Kristin Booth), free-spirited “girl next door” Rita Haywith (Crystal Lowe) and research expert Norman Dorman (Geoff Gustafson), Oliver learns that the package contains a bucket list, apparently meant to reach someone nearing life’s end. But before Oliver can immerse himself in the investigation, Shane – who shares a blossoming romance with Oliver – convinces him to take an uncharacteristic break from his work and join his father, Joe, on a rustic camping excursion. Meanwhile, Norman and Rita embark on an out-of-state road trip, attempting to deliver the lost package to its rightful destination.
Also on September 25, the season finale of Power will air on Starz at 9 PM while the dramas Once Upon a Time, Secrets and Lies and Quantico will air their season premieres that same night on ABC at 8 PM, 9 PM and 10 PM respectively. And over on PBS, Poldark will be back for a two-hour second season premiere at 8 PM.
