CASTING NEWS

Actress Erika Christensen will star opposite Kyra Sedgwick in the ABC straight-to-series drama Ten Days in the Valley. Sedgwick will star as Jane Sadler, an overworked television producer and single mother in the middle of a fractious separation. When her young daughter goes missing in the middle of the night, Jane’s world — and her controversial police series — implodes. Christensen will play Ali, Jane’s younger, bossier sister, a capable and pragmatic psychologist. (Deadline)

Actor Stephen Root (True Blood, Justified and Turn) has landed the title role in The Man in the High Castle, the Amazon series that will return for its second season on December 16. He will play the mysterious figure tied to the Resistance movement who collects the enigmatic films that seem to depict alternate versions of reality — the ones the Japanese and Nazis want to find and destroy. RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

Z Nation has been renewed for a fourth season by Syfy. (Deadline)

Showtime has announced that Masters of Sex will not return for a fifth season, meaning the final episode that aired on November 13 will actually stand as the show’s series finale. (Variety)

Amazon has given Marvel’s Luke Cage a second season. (Variety)
