RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS
The CW has given Riverdale a second season order and the network has also given The 100 a fifth season order. (Variety)
FX has given Taboo a second season order. (Variety)
Billions has been given a third season by Showtime. (Variety)
A second season of The Night Manager is in the works for AMC. (Variety)
Mercy Street will not be back for a third season, PBS. (Deadline)
CASTING NEWS
Actor Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter franchise) will play Captain Lorca in the CBS All Access upcoming series Star Trek Discovery. The show was originally set to launch last month, but has been repeatedly delayed, now being pushed to debut late this summer or in early fall. (Variety)
Actresses Rachel Bilson (Hart of Dixie) and Kaitlin Doubleday (Empire) will appear in the back-half of Nashville. Both roles are undisclosed at this time. (Variety)
Actress Sarah Bolger (Into the Badlands and Once Upon a Time) will star opposite JD Pardo in the Sons of Anarchy spin-off pilot Mayans MC, which is set in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death, focusing on the struggles of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (Pardo), a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border. Bolger will play Emily, the beautiful “guera” next door and childhood sweetheart of EZ. But when Romeo departed, this Juliet didn’t unsheathe the dagger; she traded it in for diamond studs and a mansion on the hill. (Deadline)
Actor Brandon Jay McLaren (Ransom) has landed a recurring role on the third season of UnReal, playing Dr. Simon, an excellent psychologist brought in by Quinn to work on “Everlasting” this season. He’s a former corporate crisis counselor who is known as a bit of a “fixer.” (Deadline)
Actor Andrew J. West (The Walking Dead) will appear in Once Upon A Time in an undisclosed character; one that could continue if the show is renewed for a 7th season. (Deadline)
