RENEWALS
Netflix has picked up A Series of Unfortunate Events for a third season less than a month after the streaming service announced it was ordering Season 2. (Variety)
Colony has been given a third season pick-up by the USA Network. (Variety)
Falling Water has been renewed for a second season by the USA Network. (The Futon Critic)
CBS has renewed Criminal Minds for another season. (Variety)
CASTING NEWS
Actor Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars and Person of Interest) will join the second season of the Showcase (the Canadian network) time-travelling sci-fi drama Travelers. He will play Vincent, a mysterious individual who may or may not be a friend of the travelers. (Showcase Press Release)
Actor Osric Chau (Supernatural), who recurred during the first season of BBC America’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, has been promoted to series regular for season 2. (Deadline)
Actor Mark Consuelos (Pitch) will have a major recurring role in the 4th season of The Night Shift, playing Cain, a highly confident and aggressive travel nurse who emigrated to the U.S. from Mexico. (TV Line)
Actor Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) has booked an arc on Jane the Virgin that will start this season and continue into next season, but who he will be playing is being kept under wraps. (Entertainment Weekly)
Actress Billie Lourd (Scream Queens) [and the daughter of the late Carrie Fisher and the granddaughter of the late Debbie Reynolds] will appear in the 7th season of American Horror Story. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica and Longmire), Lance Henriksen (Aliens and Into the Badlands) and Jaeden Bettencourt (Hotel Transylvania 2) have joined the cast of The Machine, which is set in a world that is being transformed by the emergence of artificial intelligence, exploring the epic conflict between man and technology through the lives and motivations of six interwoven characters. It is based on the 2013 sci-fi film of the same name. They will each lend their voices in order to breathe life to supercomputers Nadia, Stanley and Kazimir. (Deadline and Blastr)
Actress Janet McTeer (Me Before You and The White Queen) has joined the second season of Netflix’s Marvel’s Jessica Jones, but details on who she will be playing are undisclosed at this time. (The Futon Critic)
