CASTING NEWS

Young actor Lonnie Chavis (who plays the younger version of Randall on This Is Us) will guest star in the episode of The CW series Supergirl as Marcus, a young alien boy who bonds with James Olsen (series regular Mehcad Brooks. (TV Line)

Actor Thomas Calabro (from the original Melrose Place) has landed a recurring role on the 5th season of The Last Ship. He will play Gen. Don Kinkaid, who is in charge of the new, smaller Army that the U.S. has built up in the years since the end of the plague. (Deadline)

RENEWALS/PICK-UPS

Bravo has given a second season order to their drama Imposters. (Variety)

Crackle has renewed Snatch for a second season. (Twitter)

National Geographic has given Genius a second season before the first season has even aired. (Variety)

Amazon has given a second season order to Patriot. (Deadline)

Freeform has given the fantasy series Shadowhunters a third season order in advance of the latter half of the show’s second season, which will return in June. (TV Insider)

Younger, the TV Land comedy starring Broadway star Sutton Foster for a 5th season in advance of the start of the show’s upcoming 4th season. (Variety)

FOX has ordered another 10 episodes of the revival of The X-Files for the 2017-2018 TV season. (Variety)

Lifetime has picked up the new psychological thriller You, giving it a straight-to-series 10-episode. The series is based on the best-selling 2014 novel by Caroline Kepnes. The story focuses on what happens when a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer. His answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle, and person, in his way.
