RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS
Scream Queens has officially been cancelled by FOX. (Variety)
No great surprise, but CBS has official cancelled the following dramas after only one season: Pure Genius, Training Day and Ransom; and has official cancelled Doubt, which only aired two episodes. (Twitter and TV Line)
Quantico has been renewed for a third season, but only received an order for 13 episodes. (Variety)
CASTING NEWS
Actor Cameron Scoggins, who has been recurring as Zach Welles, the Silicon Valley billionaire who partnered with the late Rayna James in her music company, has been promoted to series regular for the second half of the show’s fifth season, which will be back on CMT on June 1. (Deadline)
Actress Jessica Meraz (Chasing Life) has landed a series regular role in the TNT drama Major Crimes, playing Det. Camila Paige, who’s still recovering financially from having to raise all five of her younger siblings after the death of her parents in a car accident almost fifteen years ago. And, actress Lourdes Benedicto (V) has landed a recurring role in the series where she will play Sara Garza, the wife of a prominent surgeon, his office manager, and mother to their missing fifteen-year-old son who tries to maintain her sanity in the face of kidnapping, murder and her husband’s health problems. Actress Kandyse McClure (Battlestar Galactica) has booked a series regular role in the upcoming Syfy paranormal series Ghost Wars that is set in a remote Alaskan town that has been overrun by paranormal forces. She will play Landis Barker, a scientist who is works at a facility in the town where strange occurrences start happening. The series will star Avan Jogia (Twisted and King Tut), Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil), Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy) and Kristin Lehman (Motive). (Deadline)
Actor Trevor Einhorn and actress Brittany Curran, who play Josh, a member of the mysteriously vanished Brakebills University Class of 2016 and Fen, the Fillorian wife of Eliot respectively, have both been promoted to series regular for season 3 of the Syfy series The Magicians. (Deadline)
SERIES ORDER
ABC has given a straight to series order to a spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy that will set in a Seattle firehouse. (Variety)
LIMITED SERIES NEWS
Actor Dennis Quaid will play President George W. Bush in the second installment of the FX limited series Katrina: American Crime Story that will tell the story of America’s response to the devastating 2005 storm. (Deadline)
