CASTING NEWS
Actress Laura Bell Bundy (Hart of Dixie and Anger Management) has landed a recurring role in the second season of Good Behavior on TNT. She will play Carin, an upscale suburban mother who’s heavily involved in her daughter’s school. When she meets her new neighbors, Letty (Michelle Dockery) and Javier (Juan Diego Botto), she’s quickly drawn into their web, and it’s not long before Letty exploits Carin’s deep-seated desire to rebel. Actress Sophia Bush is leaving the NBC drama Chicago P.D. after four seasons. It was hinted at the end of this season that her character Det. Erin Lindsay would be leaving Chicago to take a job with the FBI. (Deadline and Variety)
Actress Tasya Teles has been promoted to series regular on The 100 where she has recurred as Echo since season 2. (Deadline)
Actor Brandon Scott (Guerrilla) and Holland Roden (Teen Wolf) will be series leads for the third installment of the anthology series Channel Zero on Syfy, which will premiere in 2018. Scott will play Officer Luke Vanczyk, a young but already jaded cop, living in the shadow of his father, the Chief of Police. Luke’s world-weary exterior hides a fierce commitment to justice, and a deep love for his troubled community. Roden will play Zoe Woods, a sharp, tough young woman whose struggles with mental illness have worn her down over the years. She hates that her younger sister has to take care of her and she’d give anything to go back to the way things used to be. (Deadline)
Actresses Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue and Grey’s Anatomy) and Margot Bingham (Boardwalk Empire) and actor Alimi Ballard (The Catch and Numb3rs) will have recurring roles in season 2 of Queen Sugar, which returns to OWN on June 21. Lawrence will play Lorna, the mother of Charley Bordelon (series lead Dawn-Lyen Gardner). Sophisticated, charismatic, and complicated, Lorna is a successful, self-motivated businesswoman who raised her daughter to never settle for second best. Ballard will portray Dr. Robert Dubois, an epidemiologist who works at The Center for American Progress. Sincere, charming and intellectual, Dr. Dubois makes a lasting impression on Nova (series lead Rutina Wesley). Bingham is Tamar Judith, a cool and confident pop singer who crosses paths with Davis (series star Timon Kyle Durrett). (Deadline)
SERIES NEWS
The History Channel has ordered a 10-episode scripted drama currently titled Blue Book that will chronicle the real top secret United States Air Force-sponsored investigations into UFO-related phenomena in the 1950s and ’60s known as Project Blue Book. The series will focus on college professor Dr. J. Allen Hynek, who is recruited by the military to spearhead the project. The show will be executive produced by Robert Zemeckis. (Variety)
