On July 21, the new streaming series Ozark will debut on Netflix.

The 10-episode series revolves around financial planner Marty (Jason Bateman from Arrested Development) and Wendy Bird (Laura Linney from The Big C) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks when his dealing with a drug cartel go awry.

Here is a list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On July 18, the fourth season premiere of Being Mary Jane will air on BET at 10 PM while that same night Shooter will air its second season premiere on the USA Network at 10 PM.

The new streaming series Ozark will debut on Netflix on July 21. The 10-episode series revolves around financial planner Marty (Jason Bateman from Arrested Development) and Wendy Bird (Laura Linney from The Big C) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks when his dealing with a drug cartel go awry.

Also on July 21, the new movie Descendants 2 will debut simultaneously on Lifetime, Disney, Freeform and ABC at 8 PM. When the pressure to be royally perfect gets to be too much for Mal (Dove Cameron from Liv and Maddie), she returns to the Isle of the Lost. She discovers that her archenemy Uma (China Anne McClain from A.N.T. Farm and House of Payne), the daughter of Ursula, has taken over as queen, and that her gang is finalizing plans to bring down the barrier. Also reprising their roles from the first movie is Cameron Boyce (Jessie), Sofia Carson (the made-for-TV movie Adventures in Babysitting), Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga) and Mitchell Hope.

And, the Lifetime original movie Story of a Girl will debut on July 23 at 8 PM. When a sex video of 13-year-old Deanna (Ryann Shane from Lights Out and Banshee) and Tommy (Tyler Johnson from Supernatural and The Killing) goes viral, her life of carefree innocence is changed forever. Three years later, Deanna is still dealing with the fallout of the video, including being branded the school slut. Ready to move on, Deanna longs to escape a life defined by the mistakes of her past. Kevin Bacon (Footloose) and his daughter Sosie Bacon also star while his wife Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) makes her directorial debut.

CASTING NEWS

Actor J.J. Soria (Animal Kingdom and The Fosters) has joined the cast of the Crackle original one-hour drama series “The Oath,” which is set to debut in 2018. He will play Officer Pete Ramos, partner and friend of Officer Steve Hammond (True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten), and second-in-command of the Ravens cop gang. Ramos is streetwise with a nervous energy, and a family man who is driven by the need to prove himself worthy of his wife who comes from wealth and privilege. (Crackle Press Release)

Actress Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) has joined the cast of the upcoming NBC drama Good Girls, taking over the role originally set for actress Kathleen Rose Perkins (Colony), who has been recast. The show is about what happens when three suburban moms (played by Hendricks, Mae Whitman and Retta) get tired of trying to make ends meet, they decide it’s time to stick up for themselves by robbing the local supermarket at toy gunpoint. But when the manager catches a glimpse of one of them and the loot is far more than they expected, it doesn’t take long for the three best friends to realize the perfect getaway will be harder than they think. Actress Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse) has joined the cast of the A&E military drama Six where she will play Gina, a ruthless and smart CIA operative who rose from being a CIA shooter to a high-level operations officer. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Actress Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) has landed the role of Squirrel Girl in Freeform’s new live-action comedy series Marvel’s New Warriors that will revolve around six young people who are learning to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates. (Deadline)

Actress Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch) has become the first-ever female doctor on Doctor Who, replacing Peter Capaldi. (Variety)

BOX OFFICE CASTING

Actress Lily James (Downton Abbey and Cinderella) will show off her singing chops in the movie musical Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, joining returning cast members Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, and Christine Baranski. James will play the role of “Young Donna” to Streep’s present-day Donna as the film goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present. (Deadline)
