Here is the list of the new programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On April 9, the season finale of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will air at 8 PM on The CW and that same night the season finale of the Ovation drama X Company will air at 10 PM.

The new BET drama In Contempt will debut on April 10 at 10 PM, starring Erica Ash (Survivor’s Remorse) as an opinionated attorney whose passion for her job and clients make her arguably the most talented Public Defender in her district.

On April 11, The Expanse will air its season premiere on Syfy at 9 PM while that same night the Sundance drama Hap & Leonard will air its season finale of its third season at 10 PM.0

The Amazon streaming series Bosch will air online on April 13.

On April 13, the new streaming series Lost in Space will debut on Netflix, starring Toby Stephens (Black Sailes), Molly Parker (Deadwood), Parker Posey (Superman Returns) [among others] in the remake of the 1960’s sci-fi classic, centering around the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis.

Lastly, also on April 15, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Reap What You Sew: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery will debut at 9 PM, starring Candace Cameron Bure, Niall Matter (Eureka), Lexa Doig (The Arrrangement), Peter Benson and Marilu Henner.

On April 13, the new Cinemax drama Rellik will air at 10 PM.

Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones) stars as Gabriel Markham, a relentless U.K. police detective bent on tracking down the serial killer who left him physically and emotionally scarred after an acid attack.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

The CW has renewed the following shows: Arrow, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Jane the Virgin, Riverdale, Supergirl and Supernatural as well as Black Lightning and Dynasty. (Variety)

Shades of Blue will come to an end on NBC after its upcoming third season. (Variety)

BBC America has already given Killing Eve a second season renewal before the first season has even debuted. (Variety)

Amazon has cancelled Mozart in the Jungle after four season. (Variety)

CASTING NEWS

Actor Eric Bana will star opposite Connie Britton in the upcoming Bravo anthology series Dirty John, which received a two-season order in January. The series is based on the series of articles published by the Los Angeles Times. Bana will star as John Meehan, a handsome and romantic charmer who sweeps Debra Newell (Britton) off her feet and pulls her into his web of lies. The series chronicles the true story of how a romance with Meehan spiraled into secrets, denial and manipulation. (Variety)

Actor Hugh Laurie (House) will appear alongside George Clooney in the Hulu upcoming adaptation of Catch-22, playing Major de Coverley, a squadron executive officer on Pianosa air base. Adapted from the 1961 Joseph Heller novel, the six-episode series is set in Italy during World War II, telling the story of on Capt. John Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier who is furious because the bureaucratic rule known as Catch-22, which specifies that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty. Clooney will star in the role of Colonel Cathcart. (Variety)

The following cast member of The Good Doctor will return as series regular next season: Will Yun Lee, Fiona Gubelmann, Christina Chang and Paige Spara (Lea) BUT Chuku Modu will not be back. (The Futon Critic and Deadline)

Actress Jes Macallan has been promoted to series regular on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, playing the role of Time Bureau Agent Ava Sharpe. (Deadline)

The CW has acquired the US rights to the Canadian drama Burden of Truth that stars Kristin Kreuk (Smallville and Beauty and the Beast). The 10-episode drama stars Kreuk as a big-city lawyer who returns to her hometown to take on what she thinks is a simple case, only to find herself in a fight for justice for a group of sick girls. The CW will launch the series in the summer. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Actor Karl Urban will star in the Amazon straight-to-series superhero drama The Boys based on the comic book, which is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, revolving around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. Urban will play the Boys’ leader Billy Butcher. (Deadline)

Actress Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) will star in the Netflix holiday picture called Christmas Calendar that follows Abby Sutton, an aspiring photographer who inherits a magical advent calendar from her deceased grandmother that seems to be predicting her future and pointing the way to a new romance with a hunky admirer. (Deadline)

Let’s take a look at how all of the cable dramas fared during the month of March as well as the made-for-TV movies that aired during the month.

First let’s take a look at how all of the cable dramas performed during the month of March.

CABLE DRAMAS

MONDAYS:

The Alienist – The new TNT period drama aired its final four episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 5 – 1.7 million viewers
March 12 – 1.8 million viewers
March 19 – 1.7 million viewers
March 26 – 1.8 million viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for March. TNT has yet to announce if The Alienist will be renewed for a second season.

McMafia – The new AMC drama aired three episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 5 – 445,000 viewers
March 12 – 246,000 viewers
March 19 – 317,000 viewers
March 26 – No Episode Aired

This averages out to 336,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 2 with the next new episode of McMafia set to air on AMC on Monday, April 9 at 9 PM.

Shoot the Messenger – The WGN America drama aired two episodes on Monday nights during March before being moved to Friday nights on March 23 where it aired two more new episodes. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 5 – 129,000 viewers
March 12 – 115,000 viewers
March 23 – No ratings could be tracked down (New Night and Time)
March 30 – No ratings could be tracked down

This averages out to approximately 122,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 6 with the next new episode of Shoot the Messenger set to air on WGN America on Friday, April 13 at 12 Midnight.

UnReal – The Lifetime series aired four new episodes of its third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 5 – 260,000 viewers
March 12 – 248,000 viewers
March 19 – 283,000 viewers
March 26 – 280,000 viewers

This averages out to 268,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 2 with the next new episode of UnReal set to air on Lifetime on Monday, April 9 at 9 PM.

Mary Kills People – The Canadian series returned to Lifetime for the start of its second season on March 12, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 12 – 311,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
March 19 – 236,000 viewers
March 26 – 280,000 viewers

This averages out to 276,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 2 with the next new episode of Mary Kills People set to air on Lifetime on Monday, April 9 at 8 PM.

The Terror – The AMC period piece drama aired its two-hour debut episode on March 26, earning 1.4 million viewers. A new episode aired on April 2 with the next new episode of The Terror set to air on AMC on Monday, April 9 at 9 PM.

X Company – The Ovation period piece drama aired four new episodes of its debut season during the month, but no ratings could be tracked down. A new episode aired on April 2 with the season finale of X Company set to air on Ovation on Monday, April 9 at 9 PM.

TUESDAYS:

The Fosters – The Freeform drama aired the final three episodes of its fifth season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 6 – 504,000 viewers
March 13 – 530,000 viewers (Season Finale – Hour 1)
March 13 – 483,000 viewers (Season Finale – Hour 2)

This averages out to 506,000 viewers for March. The Fosters will be back for its 3-night series finale event on Freeform on Monday, June 4, Tuesday, June 5 and Wednesday, June 6 at 8 PM.

The Haves and the Have Nots – The OWN drama aired two new episodes of its fifth season, including its mid-season finale during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 6 – 2 million viewers
March 12 – 2.1 million viewers (Mid-Season Finale)

This averages out to 2.2 million viewers for March. The Haves and the Have Nots will return for the rest of its fifth season on OWN starting on Tuesday, May 1 at 9 PM.

The Quad – The BET drama aired four new episodes from its second season during the month with its season finale airing on April 3. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 6 – 538,000 viewers
March 12 – 539,000 viewers
March 19 – 504,000 viewers
March 26 – 504,000 viewers
April 3 – 551,000 viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 527,000 viewers for the above time period. The Quad has yet to be renewed for a third season by BET.

Bellevue – The new WGN America drama aired the final two episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 6 – 194,000 viewers
March 13 – 184,000 viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 189,000 viewers for March. Bellevue has yet to be renewed for a second season by WGN America.

Shadowhunters – The third season of the Freeform fantasy series premiered on March 20, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 20 – 490,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
March 27 – 444,000 viewers

This averages out to 467,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 3 with the next new episode set of Shadowhunters set to air on Freeform on Tuesday, April 10 at 8 PM.

WEDNESDAYS:

The Magicians – The magical-laced Syfy drama aired four more new episodes of its third season during March with the season finale airing on April 4. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 7 – 720,000 viewers
March 14 – 702,000 viewers
March 21 – 766,000 viewers
March 28 – 732,000 viewers
April 4 – 659,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to 716,000 viewers for above time period. The Magicians will return for a fourth season on Syfy sometime in 2019.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story – Three more episodes of the second season of the limited series FX franchise aired during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 7 – 917,000 viewers
March 14 – 998,000 viewers
March 21 – 1.2 million viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 1.1 million viewers for March. The third season of the American Crime Story anthology is expected to focus on Hurricane Katrina, but no air date has been announced as yet by FX.

Hap & Leonard: The Two-Bear Mambo – The third season of the Sundance TV series premiered on April 7, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 7 – 225,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
March 14 – No ratings could be tracked down
March 21 – 198,000 viewers
March 28 – 188,000 viewers

This averages out to approximately 203,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 4 with the next new episode of Hap & Leonard set to air on Sundance TV on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 PM.

Krypton – The Syfy Superman-prequel (of sorts) debuted on March 21, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 21 – 1.3 million viewers (DEBUT)
March 28 – 1.1 million viewers

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 4 with the next new episode of Krypton set to air on Syfy on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 PM.

The Americans – The final season of the long-running FX drama premiered on March 28, earning 642,000 viewers. A new episode aired on April 4 with the next new episode of The Americans set to air on FX on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 PM.

Suits – The long-running USA Network legal drama returned for the remainder of its 7th season on March 28, earning 1.2 million viewers. A new episode aired on April 4 with the next new episode of Suits set to air on the USA Network on Wednesday, April 11 at 9 PM.

Ice – The Audience Network drama (available only via DirecTV) returned for its second season on March 28, but no ratings could be tracked down. A new episode aired on April 4 with the next new episode of Ice set to air on the Audience Network on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 PM.

THURSDAYS:

Beyond – The Freeform fantasy series aired the final four episodes of its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 1 – 230,000 viewers
March 8 – 153,000 viewers
March 15 – 241,000 viewers
March 22 – 263,000 viewers (Series Finale)

This averages out to 222,000 viewers for March. Freeform decided not to renew Beyond for a third season.

Siren – The new mermaid-based Freeform drama aired its two-hour debut on March 29, earning 872,000 viewers for hour one and 869,000 viewers for hour two. A new episode aired on April 5 with the next new episode of Siren set to air on Freeform on Thursday, April 12 at 8 PM.

FRIDAYS:

Strike Back – The Cinemax military drama aired five episodes of its new season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 2 – 112,000 viewers
March 9 – 93,000 viewers
March 16 – 132,000 viewers
March 23 – 145,000 viewers
March 30 – 130,000 viewers

This averages out to 123,000 viewers for the above time period. The season finale of Strike Back aired on April 6. The ratings for that episode will be included in next month’s report. Strike Back has been renewed for another season by Cinemax, but an official airdate will be announced later.

SATURDAYS:

Falling Water – The USA Network series aired the final two episodes of its second season during the month. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:

March 3 – 342,000 viewers
March 9 – 335,000 viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 339,000 viewers for March. The USA Network has yet to announce if Falling Water will be renewed for a third season.

SUNDAYS:

The Chi – The new Showtime drama aired the finale three episodes from its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 4 – 675,000 viewers
March 11 – 797,000 viewers
March 18 – 872,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out 781,000 viewers for February. The Chi was renewed by Showtime for a second season, but an official airdate will be announced later.

Counterpart – The new Starz drama aired three more episodes from its debut season during March as well as its finale on April 1. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 4 – 268,000 viewers
March 11 – 310,000 viewers
March 18 – 342,000 viewers
March 25 – A marathon of episodes aired instead of a new episode
April 1 – 383,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to 326,000 viewers for above time period. Counterpart was actually given a two season order by Starz, but an official airdate for season two will be announced later.

Here And Now – The HBO drama aired four new episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 4 – 300,000 viewers
March 11 – 333,000 viewers
March 18 – 357,000 viewers
March 25 – 384,000 viewers

This averages out to 344,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of Here And Now set to air on HBO on Sunday, April 8 at 9 PM.

Homeland – The long-running Showtime drama aired four new episodes from its 7th season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 4 – 930,000 viewers
March 11 – 1.3 million viewers
March 18 – 1.3 million viewers
March 25 – 1.3 million viewers

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of Homeland set to air on Showtime on Sunday, April 8 at 9 PM.

When Calls the Heart – The Hallmark Channel family favorite series aired four new episodes from its 5th season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 4 – 2.2 million viewers
March 11 – 2.1 million viewers
March 18 – 2.4 million viewers (The Wedding)
March 25 – 2.1 million viewers

This, of course, averages out to 2.2 million viewers for February. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of When Calls the Heart set to air on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, April 8 at 9 PM.

The Walking Dead – The AMC zombiefest aired four new episodes from its 8th season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 4 – 6.8 million viewers
March 11 – 6.6 million viewers
March 18 – 6.7 million viewers
March 25 – 6.8 million viewers

This averages out to 6.7 million viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of The Walking Dead set to air on AMC on Sunday, April 8 at 9 PM.

The Arrangement – The E! Entertainment Hollywood-based drama returned for the start of its second season on March 11, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 11 – 467,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
March 18 – 477,000 viewers
March 25 – 441,000 viewers

This averages out to 462,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of The Arrangement set to air on E! Entertainment on Sunday, April 8 at 9 PM.

The Royals – The over-the-top fictional royal drama returned to E! Entertainment for the start of its fourth season on March 11, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

March 11 – 502,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
March 18 – 447,000 viewers
March 25 – 418,000 viewers

This averages out to 456,000 viewers for March. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of The Royals set to air on E! Entertainment on Sunday, April 8 at 10 PM.

Billions – The Showtime drama returned with the season premiere of its third season on March 25, earning 928,000 viewers. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of Billions set to air on Showtime on Sunday, April 8 at 10 PM.

Trust – The debut season of the FX series based on legendary Getty family got underway on March 25, earning 796,000 viewers. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of Trust set to air on FX on Sunday, April 8 at 10 PM.

Call the Midwife – The 7th season of the period piece drama aired two back-to-back episodes starting on March 25, but no ratings could be tracked down for those episodes. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of Call the Midwife set to air on PBS on Sunday, April 8 at 8 PM.

Private Eyes – The Canadian series, which is actually in its second season up North, aired four new episodes of its debut season during the month, but ratings could not be tracked down for those episodes. A new episode aired on April 1 with the next new episode of Private Eyes set to air on ION on Sunday, April 8 at 9 PM.

MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES

There were only five made-for-TV movies that aired during March. Here are the ratings for each:

Royal Matchmaker (Hallmark Channel) – 2.9 million viewers
Love, Once and Always (Hallmark Channel) – 2.2 million viewers
The Sweetest Heart (Hallmark Channel) – 2.2 million viewers
Home by Spring (Hallmark Channel) – 2.1 million viewers
Deadly Deed: A Fixer Upper Mystery (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) – 1.1 million viewers
