Last night’s programming on the major networks was very light on new episodes as there were repeats and reality; but two Monday night dramas aired new episodes and ABC debuted a new drama.

Here is how those few dramas fared in the overall ratings last night:

8 PM Show:
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (The CW) [NEW] – 1.3 million viewers

10 PM Shows:
The Crossing (ABC) [DEBUT] – 5.4 million viewers
Good Girls (NBC) [NEW] – 4.3 million viewers

Here is the list of the new programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On April 2, the debut of the new ABC drama The Crossing will air at 10 PM, starring Steve Zahn (That Thing You Do, Rick Gomez (Justified), Natalie Martinez (Under the Dome), Sandrine Holt (MacGyver) and Jay Karnes (The Shield) [among others].

The second season premiere of the FX drama Legion will air on April 3 at 10 PM; meanwhile that same night the season finale of the BET drama The Quad will air at 10 PM.

On April 4, the two-hour season premiere of Famous in Love will air at 8 PM on Freeform; and that same night the season finale of The Magicians will air on Syfy at 9 PM.

The season premiere of Imposters will air on Bravo on April 5 at 10 PM.

On April 6, Strike Back will air its season finale on Cinemax at 10 PM.

The HBO telefilm Paterno will debut on April 7 at 8 PM, starring Al Pacino, Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience), Kathy Baker (Picket Fences), Greg Grunberg (Alias) and Annie Parisse (Person of Interest).

Also on April 7, the second season premiere of the CBS series Ransom will air at 8 PM.

The new Hallmark Channel movie Once Upon a Prince will also air on April 7 at 9 PM, starring Megan Park (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) and Jonathan Keltz (Reign).

On April 8, the debut of the Starz small screen adaptation of the 4-part mini-series Howards End will air at 8 PM, starring Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter), Matthew Macfadyen (Pride & Prejudice), Tracey Ullman and Julia Ormond (The Witches of East End). An episode will air each Sunday throughout April, ending on April 29.

The new BBC America series Killing Eve will debut on April 8 at 8 PM, starring Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), Jodie Comer (The White Princess) and Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter franchise).

Also on April 8, the season finale of Private Eyes is expected to air on ION at 9 PM.

It was ALMOST a typical Sunday night of programming on the major networks last night, except for the fact it was Easter Sunday, Passover and April Fool’s Day all wrapped into one.

Here is how the Sunday night dramas that aired new episodes as well as one big holiday special fared in the overall ratings last night:

CASTING NEWS

Actress Connie Britton (9-1-1 and Nashville) is set to star in the Bravo drama series Dirty John, which received a two-season order back in January. The anthology series is based on the published article by the Los Angeles Times’ last fall about a charismatic con man, John Meehan, and the consequences of an ill-fated romance. Britton will star as Debra Newell, a single mother who fell in love with Meehan. (Variety)

Actress Willa Holland will depart from The CW series Arrow at the end of the show’s current, sixth season. (The Futon Critic and TV Line)

Veteran actress Sissy Spacek will have a recurring role alongside Julie Roberts in the upcoming Amazon series Homecoming, a psychological thriller that centers on Heidi (Roberts), a caseworker at a secret government facility, and a soldier (Stephan James) eager to rejoin civilian life. (Deadline)

Actress Elena Satine (Revenge and The Gifted) will appear opposite Rupert Friend (Homeland), Jack Reynor (Detroit) and Bella Heathcote (The Man in the High Castle) in the CBS All Access drama Strange Angel that is based on the George Pendle book of the same name. The series is inspired by the real-life story of Jack Parsons (Reynor), exploring the dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction. Satine will play Maggie, Ernest’s (Friend’s) wife. (Deadline)

Actress Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) will star in the live-action feature adaptation of the popular 1990’s franchise Carmen Sandiego that will air on Netflix. The franchise started as an educational computer game series then was adapted as an animated series, centering on the globe-trotting thief that is the nemesis of the ACME detection agency. Actor Tobias Menzies (Outlander) will take over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith (Doctor Who) in the Netflix streaming series The Crown for the show’s 3rd and 4th seasons. Olivia Colman (Broadchurch) takes over the role of Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy while Helena Bonham Carter (Cinderella and the Harry Potter franchise) will take over the role of Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby. RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

CBS has renewed both S.W.A.T. and SEAL Team for a second season. (Variety)

Cinemax has given a second season renewal to Strike Back. (The Futon Critic)

Freeform has cancelled the sci-fi action series Beyond after two seasons. (The Hollywood Reporter)

MOVIE CASTING NEWS

Marvel Universe veteran Clark Gregg will appear in the upcoming box office film Captain Marvel, as his on-screen persona of Phil Coulson. Audiences could potentially see how Coulson first got started working with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. Gregg isn’t the only Marvel Studios alum to return for the film: Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) will appear in the film also. (ComicBook.com)
