Based on information provided by the Box Office Mojo and some internet research, here are just some of the movies you can expect to see in the movie theatres in June:

Adrift
Opens: June 1

Based on the true, harrowing story of Tami Oldham Ashcraft from her book Red Sky in Mourning. Tami Oldham (Shailene Woodley) and Richard Sharp (Sam Claflin) couldn’t anticipate that they would be sailing directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. In the aftermath of the storm, Tami awakens to find Richard badly injured and their boat in ruins. With no hope of rescue, Tami must now find the strength and determination to save herself and the only man she has ever loved.

Hotel Artemis
Opens: June 8

In the near future, Jean Thomas (Jodie Foster) is a woman who runs a secret hospital for criminals in Los Angeles called Hotel Artemis. The ensemble cast includes Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Sofia Boutella (The Mummy and Atomic Blonde), Jeff Goldblum (Independence Day), Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate (Gifted), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek and Heroes), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Kenneth Choi (9-1-1) and Josh Tillman.

Ocean’s 8
Opens: June 8

Inspired by her brother Danny Ocean, his estranged sister Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala. Her first step is to assemble the perfect crew: Amita (Mindy Kaling), Tammy (Sarah Paulson), Lou (Cate Blanchett), Constance (Awkwafina), Nine Ball (Rihanna) and Rose (Helena Bonham Carter). The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Richard Armitage and James Corden.

The Incredibles 2
Opens: June 15

This animated sequel resumes where The Incredibles ended, introducing the villain The Underminer (voice by John Ratzenberger). The Parr family struggles to maintain normal lives while Helen (voice by Holly Hunter), as Elastigirl, continues to fight crime and campaign for the return of “supers.” Her husband Bob (voiced by Craig T. Nelson), Mr. Incredible, stays at home caring for their children Violet (voiced by Sarah Vowell), Dash (voiced by Huck Milner) and Jack-Jack, discovering the baby’s secret powers in the process. The Parrs and their ally Frozone (voice by Samuel L. Jackson) find they must battle a new villain, who goes by the name of Screenslaver. Other voices will be provided by Brad Bird, Jonathan Banks, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Isabella Rossellini and Sophia Bush.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Opens: June 22

After the demise of the Jurassic World theme park on Isla Nublar off Central America’s pacific coast, the dinosaurs roam freely on the island for three years until an impending volcanic eruption threatens their existence. Former park manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) creates a dinosaur rescue organization and teams up with Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell), the former partner of John Hammond, to bring the creatures to a sanctuary in America. Claire’s boyfriend Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a former dinosaur trainer at the park, joins the mission to locate Blue, the last of the Velociraptors that he trained. However, a greater scheme emerges when the creatures are being auctioned away, and disaster strikes when a dangerous hybrid dinosaur, the Indoraptor, escapes and begins terrorizing people. The cast includes Toby Jones, B. D. Wong, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda and Justice Smith.

Boundaries
Opens: June 22

Laura (Vera Farmiga), along with her teenaged son Henry (Lewis MacDougall), is forced to drive her pot-dealing father Jack (Christopher Plummer) from Portland to her sister’s house in Los Angeles after he is kicked out of a retirement home. The film also stars Bobby Cannavale, Kristen Schaal, Peter Fonda, Christopher Lloyd, Ryan Robbins and Chelah Horsdal.

The Hustle
Opens: June 29

This is a female-centric remake of the 1988 comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, in which two down-and-out con artists engage in a “loser leaves town” contest. The lead stars are Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway.

On June 1, the new Cinemax three-part mini-series C.B. Strike will debut at 10 PM.

C.B. Strike (Tom Burke from The Musketeers and Only God Forgives) is a war veteran turned private detective who operates out of a tiny office in London’s Denmark Street. Although wounded both physically and psychologically, his unique insight and background as a military police investigator prove crucial in solving complex crimes that have baffled the police. Holliday Grainger (The Borgias and Cinderella) stars as Robin Ellacott, Strike’s new assistant and protégé.

The series is based on the bestselling novels written by Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On May 28, iZombie will air its season finale on The CW at 9 PM while that same night the History Channel series Six will have a special night airing of its season finale at 10 PM. The show will then move to its regular night on May 30 at 10 PM.

The TNT drama Animal Kingdom will air its season premiere on May 29 at 9 PM.

Also on May 29, the new WGN America drama 100 Code will debut at 10 PM. This tense crime thriller follows the hunt for a serial killer who targets young, blonde and blue-eyed women, found dead in fields of flowers. Through a special arrangement with the NYPD, Detective Tommy Conley (Dominic Monaghan) is permitted to observe and advise the Stockholm PD, as he suspects a connection between a series of murders in New York and a death in Sweden. Upon arrival in Stockholm, he is paired with Mikael Eklund (Michael Nyqvist), a Swedish cop with an aversion to American culture. Both detectives despise each other, but the two are quickly forced to resolve their differences as the mysterious killings continue. With the vicious killer still at large, Conley and Eklund embark on a hunt that leads the duo down a path of no return.

Queen Sugar will air a special two-night season premiere on OWN on May 29 and 30 at 10 PM each night.

Also on May 30, Famous in Love will air its season finale on Freeform at 8 PM; that same night the series finale of The Americans will air at 10 PM on FX and the Audience Network [via DirecTV] drama Ice will also air its season finale on May 30 at 10 PM.

The Hallmark Channel movie Marrying Mr. Darcy will debut on June 2 at 9 PM. Some six months after they first crossed verbal swords at a Washington D.C. dog show, schoolteacher Elizabeth Scott (Cindy Busby) and businessman/philanthropist Donovan Darcy (Ryan Paevey) are blissfully in love and newly engaged. With Donovan in agreement, she looks forward to planning a small autumn wedding with the help of her mother and sister. After Donovan’s previously scornful Aunt Violet (Frances Fisher) makes a heartfelt apology for her past behavior, Elizabeth is glad to include her in the planning process. As the weeks fly by and the arrangements for the wedding grow more elaborate, Elizabeth feels the burden of expectations she will face as Mrs. Darcy. Worse still, Donovan himself is wrapped up in his work and increasingly unavailable to her. Reminded yet again of their tremendous differences in background and temperament, Elizabeth can’t help but ask herself: should she marry Mr. Darcy?

On June 3, the new FX drama Pose will debut at 9 PM. The series explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the ball culture world, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene. The cast includes Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Kate Mara (House of Cards), Angelica Ross (Claws) and James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek).

The new HBO drama Succession will debut on June 3 at 10 PM. The 10-episode drama follows the Roy family – Logan Roy and his four adult children – who control one of the biggest media and entertainment conglomerates in the world. The show tracks the lives of the key members as they grapple with what the future will hold for them as their aging father begins to step back from the company. The cast includes Alan Ruck, Brian Cox (The X-Men and The Bourne franchises), Matthew Macfadyen (Ripper Street and Pride and Prejudice), Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down) and Sarah Snook (The Dressmaker) [among others].

Also on June 3, the new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Hailey Dean Mystery: 2+2=Murder will debut at 9 PM.  Hailey (Kellie Martin) attends her niece’s school recital only to learn that the beloved music teacher has vanished. Hailey soon discovers several startling secrets amongst the staff, as well as a link between the missing young teacher and the school’s reconstruction funds. The film also stars Chad Lowe.

Lastly, Fear the Walking Dead will be back with the rest of its fourth season on June 3 on AMC at 9 PM.

The Expanse has officially been picked up at Amazon for a fourth season. (Variety)

CBS has cancelled Code Black after three seasons. (Variety)

The Broadway show Hair will be the next live NBC musical. (Variety)

The 4th season of the Lifetime drama UnReal will actually air on Hulu, but it still may air on Lifetime although it is not expected to return until potentially 2019 IF Lifetime picks it up at all. (The Hollywood Reporter and The Futon Critic)

The spin-off series to the soon-to-be-ending Freeform drama The Fosters, which will focus on Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) as they embark on the next phase of their young adult lives in Los Angeles has been given an official title: Good Trouble. (The Futon Critic)

CASTING NEWS

Actress Kim Raver will reprise her role of Dr. Teddy Altman, coming back to Grey’s Anatomy as a series regular for the show’s upcoming fall TV season. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Actor Cheyenne Jackson has joined the cast of the Disney Channel made-for-TV movie Descendants 3, playing Hades, the underworld ruler. The movie is set to debut in 2019. (Deadline)

Movie star Richard Gere will appear in the upcoming BBC drama MotherFatherSon, his first TV role in almost three decades. He will play Max, a charismatic self-made American businessman who owns media outlets in London and around the world. (Variety)

Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) will appear in the Netflix film Six Underground, the latest action flick from Michael Bay. The film will release in 2019. (Variety)

Actor Zachary Levi (Chuck) will have a recurring role in the 2nd season of the Amazon comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, playing an eclectic Manhattan doctor who suddenly starts orbiting the world of Midge Maisel (series lead Rachel Brosnahan) and her parents, Abe (Tony Shaloub) and Rose Weissman (Marin Hinkle). Actor John Malkovich (Red) and Rupert Grint (Harry Potter) will appear in the small screen adaptation of the Agatha Christie mystery The ABC Murders that will air on the BBC in Britain and on Amazon in the US. (Variety)

BOX OFFICE CASTING NEWS

Actors Sam Heughan (Outlander) and Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex) and actress Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver) are expected to join Vin Diesel in the box office film Bloodshot based on the comic, which is about a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and tasked with rounding up super-powered outcasts known as “harbingers.” (Variety)

Actors Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf and Jane the Virgin), KJ Apa (Riverdale) and Maia Mitchell (The Fosters) will air in the box office film The Last Summer, which will follow a group of young adults who spend their “last summer” before college on the precipice; ready to take control of their lives and their futures for the first time. Actress Caitriona Balfe (Outlander) will appear alongside Christian Bale and Matt Damon in the untitled Ford vs. Ferrari movie, revolving around car manufacturer Ford’s quest to beat Ferrari as the top maker of race cars. Damon will play Carol Shelby, the eccentric engineer who designs from scratch the Ford GT 40, the car that just may win the 1966 Le Mans race, while Bale will play Ken Miles, the hotshot British racer who drives it.
