While the folks attending Comic Con 2018 are dancing up a storm at all the parties in San Diego while others are at the annual Masquerade, there was a LOT of panels – focusing on TV shows and box office movies – to take a look at for Day Three.

The series’ morning panel at the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom was standing room only with a line stretching outside the hotel before it started; and the panel closed with a two-minute tease of the first episode. (Chris Barton from LA Times)

Krypton (Syfy)

DC Comics villain Lobo will be the “big bad” in season two. Lobo is from the peaceful planet of Czarnia, born a devil in the midst of utopia. Loosely translated from his native language, his name means “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it.” As a teenager, he single-handedly slaughtered his entire civilization, becoming the last of his race. Now the mercenary roams the universe on his motorcycle, getting paid for what he loves most: murder and mayhem. (Denise Petski at Deadline)

Manifest (NBC)

Manifest: Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh [Photo Credit: Just Jared]

When Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. Yet in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years and their friends, families and colleagues, after mourning their loss, had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they’re all given a second chance. But as their new realities become clear, a deeper mystery unfolds and some of the returned passengers soon realize they may be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible.

Legacies (The CW)

The spin-off series of The Originals tells the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. It’s here that Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson; Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman; and other young adults – including political scion MG and the mysterious Landon Kirby – come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves… in spite of their worst impulses. Will these young witches, vampires and werewolves become the heroes they want to be – or the villains they were born to be? As they fight to protect their secret, their town of Mystic Falls and eventually the world, they will have to rely on ancient folklore and tales to learn how to battle their far-reaching enemies.

The Gifted (FOX)

Midnight, Texas (NBC)

Midnight, Texas: Eric C. Charmelo, Peter Mensah, Arielle Kebbel, Francois Arnaud, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Dylan Bruce, Jason Lewis and Nicole Snyder [Photo Credit: Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images North America]

In season two, a new, seemingly benign element presents itself. A company has bought the town’s old hotel and is going to renovate it to make Midnight a tourist destination. After becoming temporarily possessed last season, Manfred is still feeling the lingering effects in a surprising way. Olivia and Lem’s marriage is off to a sexy start because now that she’s shared his blood, there’s a psychic bond between them. Fiji and Bobo, they new lovebirds, have clearly been practicing and have a strange side effect of her magic: when they make love, they float. Joe (the Angel) meets the demon-hunting gay cowboy Walker, who may turn that angel’s head. And, a banshee will be hitting town and there might be some pint-sized Midnighters in town too. Season 3 will Juliana Crain and Trade Minister Tagomi as they work together to interpret the last of the remaining films. Returning from Berlin, Joe Blake is sent on a diplomatic mission to San Francisco and Helen works to protect her family following the aftermath of the previous season.  Jason O’Mara has joined as a series regular, playing Wyatt Price, a hustler in the Neutral Zone whose family immigrated from Europe to New York to escape the war. Deadly Class (Syfy)

Set in a dark, comic book world against the backdrop of late 1980’s counter culture, the series follows a homeless teen recruited into a storied elite private school where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.

Chris Pine quashed any hopes that he’d reveal how his character could still be alive for the sequel when it had appeared that he’d met his death. “It’s something I’m super excited for everybody to see,” said Director Patty Jenkins. “[Chris] is a very important part of our movie.” There was footage shown during the panel – but not made available [as yet] online – that showed Wonder Woman flying into a mall and rescuing a young girl while taking out some gun-toting thugs. The Roz Report

The highlights for Roz included the press for NBC’s new show Manifest, which Josh Dallas described as Lost meets This is Us.

The Gifted panel was also great with a sneak peek at season two, some great fan questions and even a good look at how the show decides which mutants to include.

Lastly Roz attended a small party for her friend’s podcast Fansplaining where she met Alexa Donne, who just published Burning Brightly, a YA Jane Eyre in Space.

THE ROZ REPORT

Here is what Roz had to report about what happened to her or what she witnessed today at Comic Con 2018 Day Two:

It was a fun day of awkward stories that finally got to some of the Hollywood double standards at the EW’s Brave Warriors panel, especially when Tom Ellis revealed a less than ideal situation in a sex scene.

Here is the picture Roz took at that panel:

Biggest highlight, though, was running into someone from the show that started me coming to Comic Con! Francis Capra, Weevil, is always a treat to see!

The first full day of Comic Con 2018 got underway today in San Diego with loads and loads of panels, focusing on upcoming movies, new and returning TV shows, special salutes to women in the industry and so much more.

Naturally, it’s impossible to focus on every single panel that took place today, but the following includes brief details, pictures and/or trailers for many of the scripted TV shows that were on the schedule today as well some really cool photos of cosplayers and celebs in attendance today.

Siren (Freeform)

Eric Wald, Rena Owen, Alex Roe, Eline Powell, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun and Emily Whitesell [Photo Credit: Jerod Harris/Getty Images North America/Zimbio]

TLC member and self-professed #1 fan Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas moderated the panel, focusing on the new Freeform series about mermaids in the small coastal town of Bristol Cove. During the panel executive producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald confirmed that season two will see new mermaids in town, “It will give us a chance to dig even more into the mermaid mythology; what their lives are like, what their social structures are like.” [Devan Coggan at Entertainment Weekly]

Charmed (The CW)

Jessica O’Toole, Madeleine Mantock, Sarah Jeffery, Melonie Diaz and Jennie Snyder Urman [Photo Credit: Getty Images]

The 1998-2006 WB series is getting a reboot this fall with a story that is very reminiscent of the original with a few tweaks. Mel and Maggie are sisters who live with their college professor mother. After she dies under mysterious circumstances, they are reunited with their long-lost sister Macy as they begin to manifest their dipowers. Macy is a scientist, who, while embracing her role as a witch, she wants to find a scientific explanation as to how their powers work. The show looks to rely a lot on humor, and will touch on a lot of prescient issues, such as LGBT relationships and the #MeToo movement. Executive Producer Jennie Snyder Urman shared that the original show had such strong powerful women and that in today’s world, there wasn’t a better time to bring back a show with empowered women. [Donnie Lederer at Syfy Wire]

Doctor Who (BBC America)

Doctor Who Panel: [Photo Credit: Dominick Dusseault)

odie Whittaker with Sonic Screwdriver [Photo Credit: Dominick Dusseault]

Our very own Roz got to see part of the show’s panel, introducing the new FEMALE Doctor Who – Jodie Whittaker herself – along with two of her three new companions. The first, albeit short, official trailer for Season 11 was shown and according to Roz, “even though I only heard part of the panel, I’m excited to see a female doctor even if the Doctor’s gender isn’t at the heart of the episodes. Hearing that the season will be stand-alone (episodes) and (meant as) a way to get more people into the show (that) makes me hopeful that little girls everywhere will see that they can travel the stars.”

Jodie Whittaker at Her Universe Fashion Show [Photo Credit: Roz Foster]

What was even more exciting was that Doctor Who lead Jodie Whittaker crashed the Her Universe Fashion Show, which Roz was attending, and Roz was able to snap this great shot of Jodie in full Doctor Who regalia. Here are a few other pictures of some of the great fashions:

[Fashion Show Photo Credit: Roz Foster]

Make sure to also check back here after the convention has ended for Roz’s full report on the Her Universe Fashion Show that will include video of Jodie crashing the event and more great photos from the event.

In the meantime, enjoy the season 11 official trailer:

Impulse (You Tube Originals)

Maddie Hasson [Photo Credit: Melissa Lowery]

The You Tube Originals series based on the novel Impulse by Steven Gould, which received a second season order, took to the stage for the first time; and my friend and editor at NiceGirlsTV, Melissa Lowery, had the opportunity to speak with lead actress Maddie Hasson in the press room, and here is the great photo she snapped of the talented actress.

Tell Me a Story (CBS All Access)

The new series set in modern-day New York City takes the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller.

James Wolk and Paul Wesley [Photo Credit: Ben Watts/Entertainment Weekly Exclusive]

Origins (You Tube Premium)

A group of people are sold the promise of a new life on a faraway planet that’s being colonized by a corporation called Siren. Of course, that doesn’t go as planned, and the 11 passengers have to figure out what went wrong and how they will survive, while also flashing back to the lives they left behind on Earth.

A Discovery of Witches (Sundance Now)

Owen Teale, Valarie Pettiford, Alex Kingston, and Teresa Palmer [Photo Credit: Mike Coppola/Getty Images]

Based on the Deborah Harkness best-selling novel, the series picked up by Sundance Now is a contemporary love story that begins against the backdrop of Oxford academic life, in a world where small numbers of witches, vampires and daemons live and work, unseen amongst humans, hiding in plain sight. Brilliant historian Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer) is a reluctant witch denying her heritage when the discovery of a bewitched manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library throws her into the heart of a dangerous mystery – and into the path of the enigmatic vampire and geneticist, Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode), who hides a dark family secret.

Nightflyers (Syfy)

David Ajala, Jodie Turner-Smith, Angus Sampson, Gretchen Mol, and Eoin Macken [Photo Credit: Ben Watts Entertainment Weekly Exclusive]

Chloe Bennett [Photo Credit: Ben Watts Entertainment Weekly Exclusive]

In 2093, in hopes of making contact with a mysterious alien life at the edge of our solar system, a group of maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition aboard The Nightflyer. As they race towards first contact, terrifying and violent events begin to occur, causing the once tight-knit crew to mistrust each other. It’s not long before their main mission becomes survival.

Marvel Rising: Secret Warrior (Digital Short Series)

Secret Warriors will be part of a bigger project, also titled Marvel Rising. The franchise will launch with a digital short series about Spider-Gwen and her new secret identity Ghost-Spider. The cast members include Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, Tyler Posey and Milana Vayntrub [among others].

Better Call Saul (AMC)

Van Helsing (Syfy)

Marvel’s Iron Fist (Netflix)

Mr. Mercedes (DirecTV’s Audience Network)

The Audience Network adaptation of the Stephen King trilogy will be back with its second season on August 22, but the second season will actually be based on “End of Watch,” the third book in the trilogy. The problem with using “Finders Keepers,” – the second book in the trilogy – according to Executive Producer and Director Jack Bender – was that “our heroes didn’t come into it until halfway through the book.” [Josh Weiss at Syfy Wire]

Sona Series (Streaming Series)

The 8-episode short form sci-fi series created by and starring actress Ashley Clements (The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and the film Non-Transferable) focuses on what happens when Lieutenant Belyn Sona (Clements), a United Earth Space Corps officer, has to choose between her alien husband and her home planet, she has no option but betrayal. Trapped in an escape pod with no knowledge of her husband’s whereabouts, Sona is forced to reckon with what truly matters, and what it takes to survive. The series was filmed mostly on an escape pod set built in her Clements’ own apartment.

On July 22, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Morning Show Mysteries: Murder on the Menu will debut at 9 PM.

Beloved chef, restaurant owner and morning show segment host Billie Blessings (Holly Robinson Peete) becomes a key player in a deliciously deceptive murder mystery when a body is found in the trunk of her on-camera celebrity guest chef’s rental car. After the chef returns to the show and is implicated in a prior murder, Billie is targeted for the on-air ambush, even though she’s pretty sure the guy didn’t do it. Now caught in the middle of this mess, Billie must uncover who the killer is, without compromising the investigation led by Ian Jackson, the cop with whom she has a complicated history.

The film also stars Rick Fox and Chad Willett.

Here is a trailer for Morning Show Mysteries: Murder on the Menu.
