Here is the long list of the programming options to expect on TV this week.
On May 27, the Hallmark Channel movie Love in the Sun will debut at 9 PM. A dating app creator (Emeraude Toubia from Shadowhunters) finds her views on love challenged when she returns home to Florida and reconnects with her high school sweetheart (Tom Maden from Famous in Love). Shawn Christian also co-stars.
The National Geographic 3-night event series The Hot Zone will debut on May 27 at 9 PM. Based on the eponymous international best-seller by Richard Preston, the 3-part series recounts the terrifying true story of the origins of the Ebola virus, a highly infectious deadly virus from the central African rain forest, and its first arrival on U.S. soil. In 1989, when this killer suddenly appeared in chimpanzees in a scientific lab in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., there was no known cure. A heroic U.S. Army veterinarian working with a secret military SWAT team put herself in mortal peril when she tried to head off the outbreak before it spread to the human population. The cast includes Julianna Margulies, Nick Searcy, Robert Sean Leonard, Topher Grace, James D’Arcy, Liam Cunningham, Noah Emmerich and Robert Wisdom. The show will air its second and third episodes at 9 PM on May 28 and May 29.
Also on May 27, the new Lifetime movie Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal will debut at 8 PM. The sequel to the 2018 Lifetime movie A Royal Romance, this film continues the love story of newlyweds Prince Harry (Charlie Field from Genius) and American actress Meghan Markle (Tiffany Smith from Supernatural), pulling back the curtain to reveal the untold joys and challenges of life inside the Royal Family during their pivotal first year of marriage. Beyond blending their families and cultures, Harry and Meghan’s core values are put to the test as they try to find the balance between honoring Royal tradition and staying true to their beliefs.
On May 28, the fourth season premiere of Animal Kingdom will air on TNT at 9 PM while that same night the season finale of Fosse/Verdon will air at 10 PM on FX; and also that night the second season premiere of Pure will air on WGN America at 10 PM.
The new NBC drama The InBetween will debut on May 29 at 10 PM. Cassie Bedford (Harriet Dyer from the Australian series Love Child) was born with a rare ability. She has visions. Whether she likes it or not. Sometimes Cassie sees events that have previously occurred or will happen in the future. In addition, sometimes she encounters unsettled spirits who need her help. When her father, Det. Tom Hackett (Paul Blackthorne from Arrow), and his new partner, former FBI Agent Damien Asante (Justin Cornwell from Training Day), need assistance solving a dark and puzzling murder, Cassie reluctantly agrees to use her abilities and helps solve some of the city’s most challenging cases. The cast include Chad James Buchanan (Star), Cindy Luna (The Last Ship) and Anne-Marie Johnson (In the Heat of the Night).
On May 30, the season finale of The Twilight Zone will air online today on CBS All Access.
The new streaming series Good Omens will debut online on May 31 on Amazon. The End of the World is coming, which means a fussy Angel (Michael Sheen) and a loose-living Demon (David Tennant) who’ve become overly fond of life on Earth are forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon. But they have lost the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it is too late. The ensemble cast includes Brian Cox, David Morrissey, Frances McDormand, Jon Hamm, Michael McKean, Adria Arjona, Miranda Richardson and Mireille Enos [among others].
Also on May 31, the Netflix streaming series When They See Us will debut online. Based on a true story that gripped the country, the series will chronicle the notorious case of five teenagers of color, labeled the Central Park Five, who were convicted of a rape they did not commit; focusing on the five teenagers from Harlem — Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise. Beginning in the spring of 1989, when the teenagers were first questioned about the incident, the series will span 25 years, highlighting their exoneration in 2002 and the settlement reached with the city of New York in 2014. The ensemble cast includes Aunjanue Ellis, Blair Underwood, Famke Janssen, John Leguizamo, Joshua Jackson, Kylie Bunbury, Niecy Nash, Storm Reid, Vera Farmiga and William Sadler [among others].
The DC Universe series Swamp Thing will debut online on May 31. The series follows Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed from Teen Wolf) as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe. The series also stars Derek Mears as the title character, Ian Ziering, Jennifer Beals, Kevin Durand, Virginia Madsen and Will Paton.
Also on May 31, the two-hour HBO special presentation Deadwood: The Movie will debut on 8 PM. In 1889, the residents of Deadwood are reunited to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. The ensemble cast includes Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Robin Weigert, W. Earl Brown, Brad Dourif, Paula Malcomson, Anna Gunn, Kim Dickens, Will Sanderson and Gerald McRaney [among others].
The Lifetime movie Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta will debut on June 1 at 8 PM. In a contemporary adaptation of the Jane Austen classic, the movie follows Reverend Bennet (Reginald VelJohnson from Family Matters), a pastor of a prominent southern Baptist church and his wife Mrs. Bennet (Jackée Harry from Sister, Sister), who is the author of a self-help book on how to find the perfect husband. Needless to say, Mrs. Bennet is less than thrilled that all five of their daughters, Lizzie (Tiffany Hines from Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart), Jane (Raney Branch from Being Mary Jane), Mary (Brittney Level from The Purge), Lydia (Reginae Carter from Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta) and Kitty (newcomer Alexia Bailey), are still single. When the very eligible Will Darcy (Juan Antonio from Empire) arrives in town, Mrs. Bennet sets her sights on the handsome bachelor for daughter Lizzie, leading to a modern-day, comedic take on themes familiar to fans of the novel.
Also on June 1, the latest Hallmark Channel movie Wedding at Graceland will debut at 9 PM. In the sequel to Christmas at Graceland, Laurel and Clay (Wes Brown and Kellie Pickler) have three weeks to plan their wedding that will take place at Elvis Presley’s celebrated Memphis home. However, when both sets of in-laws, each with vastly different personalities and ideas for the wedding, descend upon Memphis to “help” plan the nuptials, the bride and groom are pushed to the breaking point. Priscilla Presley makes a special appearance.
The Canadian series Burden of Truth will air its second season premiere on The CW on June 2 at 8 PM; and that same night the fifth season premiere of Luther will air on BBC America at 8 PM.
Also on June 2, the new Lifetime drama American Princess will debut at 9 PM followed by another new episodes at 10 PM (the show’s regular timeslot). When Amanda Klein (Aussie newcomer Georgia Flood), an Upper East Side socialite, runs away from her own dream wedding, she realizes that the life she thought she wanted wasn’t actually right after all. After impulsively joining a Renaissance Faire, Amanda experiences an unexpected awakening that leads her to reevaluate everything she thought she knew about the pursuit of happiness. She quickly develops new friendships, rivalries and romances that, much to the confusion of her family, opens her eyes to new beginnings. The cast includes Lucas Neff (Raising Hope), Seana Kofoed (Men in Trees), Mary Hollis Inboden (Here and Now) and Rory O’Mallery (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).
The two-hour special presentation Downton Abbey Returns! will debut on PBS on June 2 at 9 PM. This special features new interviews with the cast, writer/creator Julian Fellowes and executive producer Gareth Neame as well as video clips of emotional moments from all six seasons. Peppered throughout the 2-hour special are never-before-seen, exclusive sneak peeks from the upcoming movie. Actor Jim Carter (Mr. Carson himself) is the host.
Also on June 2, the fifth season premiere of Fear The Walking Dead will air on AMC at 9 PM followed by the debut of the new thriller NOS4A2 at 10:05 PM. Based on the 2013 best-selling novel of the same name, NOS4A2 follows Vic McQueen, (Ashleigh Cummings from The Goldfinch), a gifted young woman who discovers she has a supernatural ability to find lost things. This ability puts her on a collision course with the evil and immortal Charlie Manx, Zachary Quinto (Star Trek, American Horror Story), a supernatural villain who feeds off the souls of children then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted place of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.
The new EPIX drama Perpetual Grace, LTD will debut on June 2 at 10 PM. The series follows James (Jimmi Simpson from Psych), a young grifter, as he attempts to prey upon Pastor Byron Brown (Sir Ben Kingsley), who turns out to be far more dangerous than he suspects. The pastor and his wife Lillian (Jacki Weaver) – known to their parishioners as Pa and Ma – have used religion to bilk hundreds of innocent people out of their life savings. The cast includes Terry O’Quinn (Lost), Damon Herriman (100 Bloody Acres), Kurtwood Smith (That ’70s Show, Patriot), and Luis Guzman (Traffic, Code Black).
And lastly also on June 2, the season finale of When Calls the Heart will air at 9 PM on the Hallmark Channel.
