Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this week:

On July 16, the new drama Pandora will debut on The CW at 8 PM. This sci-fi action series is set in the year 2199, centering on a resourceful young woman who has lost everything but finds a new life at Earth’s Space Training Academy where she and her friends learn to defend the Galaxy from threats, both alien and human. When secrets about the nature of her own identity begin to surface, she must uncover the truth, and whether she will be humanity’s savior or the instrument of its destruction.

The 9th and final season of Suits will air its season premiere on July 17 on the USA Network at 9 PM followed by the debut of the new drama – and Suits spin-off – Pearson at 10 PM. The Suits spin-off series centers on the world of recently disbarred NYC powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) as she adjusts to down and dirty Chicago politics. Newly appointed as Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak’s (Morgan Spector from Homeland and The Mist TV series) right hand fixer, Jessica is quickly embroiled in a crooked and dangerous new world where every action has far-reaching consequences. With her compulsion to win, Jessica is forced to reconcile her unstoppable drive with her desire to do the right thing – two things very much at odds.

On July 19, the 5th and final season of Killjoys will premiere on Syfy at 10 PM.

The season finale of Frankie Drake Mysteries will air on Ovation on July 20 at 8 PM.

Also on July 20, the Hallmark Channel will air its Summer Nights Preview special at 10 PM.

The season finale of Burden of Truth will air on The CW at 8 PM on July 21

Also on July 21, the TV One thriller Loved to Death will debut at 8 PM. The film charts a newly engaged couple whose lives are cut short when they are suddenly gunned down by a crazed ex-lover at a toll booth. Upon meeting and falling in love with Dre (Tobias Truvillion from Empire), Monica (Malinda Williams from Girlfriends’ Getaway) leaves a long term abusive relationship with Jackson (McKinley Freeman from Hit the Floor) to be with her new love. Tune in to find out how a once loving relationship turned deadly.

Lastly, also on July 21, the season finale of Big Little Lies will air at 9 PM on HBO.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

HBO has renewed “Euphoria” for a second season. (Variety)

The upcoming sixth season of How to Get Away With Murder will be its last on ABC. (Variety)

CASTING NEWS

Actresses Danielle Campbell (The Originals) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Jessica Jones) will appear in the second season of the CBS All Access anthology series Tell Me A Story. Campbell appeared in the first season of the series, playing a character inspired by Little Red Riding Hood; but this time around she’ll play Olivia, who is not inspired by Belle but has ties to the Sleeping Beauty storyline. While Moss will play Rebecca, who has ties to all three storylines (Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast). The cast already includes Odette Annable, Natalie Alyn Lind and Paul Wesley. Actress Alana De La Garza will join the cast of the CBS drama FBI instead of the spin-off series FBI: Most Wanted, playing the series regular role of Assistant Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castile. (Deadline and TV Line)

Actress Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters) has been promoted to series regular for the 8th and final season of Arrow, where she has been recurring as Mia Smoak, the daughter Olive Queen and Felicity Smoak. (TV Line)

NEW SERIES/CASTING NEWS

Actress Katherine Heigl (Suits) will star and executive producer the upcoming 10-episode Netflix drama Firefly Lane, the adaptation of the best-selling book by Kristin Hannah that centers on two inseparable best friends and tracks their enduring, complicated bond over the course of four decades. Heigl will play Tully Hart, a magnetic, ambitious, reckless and fiercely loyal force of nature. Still bearing the scars of a traumatic childhood, Tully is dogged by inner loneliness, even as she goes on to fabulous fame and fortune as a journalist and talk show host. Her saving grace is her best friend and soulmate, Kate (not yet cast), with whom she shares an unshakable bond, over the course of four tumultuous decades. (TV Line)

BOX OFFICE NEWS

Oscar-winning actress Sophia Loren is returning to the big screen for the first time in a decade, appearing in her son Edoardo Ponti’s film titled La vita davanti a sé (“The Life Ahead”). She will play Madame Rosa, a Holocaust survivor who forges a bond with a 12-year-old Senegalese immigrant boy named Momo. (Variety)

Actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House, Emerald City and Man in an Orange Shirt) has landed the title role in the upcoming box office film The Invisible Man that, at one point, was – during early development of the project – going to star Johnny Depp. The cast will include Elizabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale and Mad Men), Aldis Hodge (City On A Hill and Hidden Figures), Harriet Dyer (The InBetween) and Storm Reid (Euphoria and A Wrinkle in Time). MADE-FOR-TV MOVIE NEWS

Actor Colin O’Donoghue (Once Upon a Time) will star in the upcoming National Geographic NASA drama The Right Stuff, taking over the role [which was to be played by Game of Thrones and Deep State star Joe Dempsie] of Lt. Gordon Cooper, the youngest of the Mercury Seven. The cast of this mini-series, which is set to debut in 2020, already includes Patrick J. Adams (Suits) and Jake McDorman (Murphy Brown). Summer is several weeks underway, and it’s time to look back at how all of the cable network dramas as well as the June made-for-TV movies performed in the ratings.

First let’s take a look at the dramas:

CABLE DRAMAS

MONDAYS:

Gentleman Jack – The period piece HBO drama aired the final two episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 3 – 270,000 viewers
June 10 – 365,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to 318,000 viewers for June. Gentleman Jack has been renewed for a second season by HBO, and will return sometime in 2020.

Legion – The third season of the FX drama got underway on July 24, earning 377,000 viewers for its season premiere. New episodes aired on July 1 and July 8 with the next new episode of Legion set to air on FX on Monday, July 15 at 10 PM.

Years and Years – The new HBO drama debuted on July 24, earning 193,000 viewers. New episodes aired on July 1 and July 8 with the next new episode of Years and Years set to air on HBO on Monday, July 15 at 9 PM.

TUESDAYS:

The Bold Type – The Freeform drama aired the final two episodes from its third season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 4 – 248,000 viewers
June 11 – 267,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to 258,000 viewers for June. The Bold Type was renewed for a fourth season by Freeform, and will return sometime in 2020.

The Haves and the Have Nots – The long-running OWN soap opera aired the final five episodes of its sixth season during June, airing its finale on July 2. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 4 – 1.6 million viewers
June 11 – 1.5 million viewers
June 18 – 1.8 million viewers
June 25 – 1.9 million viewers
July 2 – 1.8 million viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for that time period. The Haves and the Have Nots has yet to be renewed for a 7th season by OWN.

Animal Kingdom – The TNT crime drama actually returned for the start of its 4th season on May 28, and aired four new episodes in June. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 28 – 1.4 million viewers (Season Premiere)
June 4 – 1.1 million viewers
June 11 – 1.2 million viewers
June 18 – 1.2 million viewers
June 25 – 1 million viewers

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for that time period. New episodes aired on July 2 and July 9 with the next new episode of Animal Kingdom set to air on TNT on Tuesday, July 16 at 9 PM.

Pure – The second season of the WGN America drama actually premiered on May 28, aired four new episodes in June and its final episode on July 2. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 28 – 241,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 4 – 219,000 viewers
June 11 – 107,000 viewers
June 18 – 166,000 viewers
June 25 – 195,000 viewers
July 2 – 194,000 viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 187,000 viewers for the time period. There has been no announcement whether Pure has been given a third season renewal.

Pose – The FX drama returned for the start of its second season on June 11, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 11 – 672,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 18 – 567,000 viewers
June 25 – 589,000 viewers

This averages out to 609,000 viewers for June. A new episode of Pose aired on July 9 with the next new episode of Pose set to air on FX on Tuesday, July 16 at 10 PM.

Good Trouble – The Freeform spin-off to The Fosters returned for the start of its second season on June 18, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 18 – 308,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 25 – 324,000 viewers

This averages out to 316,000 for June. New episodes aired on July 2 and July 9 with the next new episode of Good Trouble set to air on Freeform on Tuesday, July 16 at 8 PM.

Ambitions – The new OWN soap opera debuted on June 18, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 18 – 1.2 million viewers (DEBUT)
June 25 – 1.1 million viewers

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for June. New episodes aired on July 2 and July 9 with the next new episode of Ambitions set to air on OWN on Tuesday, July 16 at 10 PM.

WEDNESDAYS:

Krypton – The Syfy series aired it second season premiere on June 12, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 12 – 480,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 19 – 430,000 viewers
June 26 – 487,000 viewers

This averages out to 466,000 viewers for June. New episodes aired on July 3 and July 10 with the next new episode of Krypton set to air on Syfy on Wednesday, July 17 at 10 PM.

Queen Sugar – The fourth season of the OWN drama aired its season premiere on June 12, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 12 – 1 million viewers (Season Premiere)
June 19 – 972,000 viewers
June 26 – 1.1 million viewers

This averages out to 1 million viewers for June. New episodes aired on July 3 and July 10 with the next new episode of Queen Sugar set to air on OWN on Wednesday, July 17 at 9 PM.

Younger – The half-hour TV Land dramedy returned for the start of its 6th season on June 12, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 12 – 635,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 19 – 580,000 viewers
June 26 – 532,000 viewers

This averages out to 582,000 viewers for June. New episodes aired on July 3 and July 10 with the next new episode of Younger set to air on TV Land on Wednesday, July 17 at 10 PM.

Yellowstone – The Paramount Network drama aired its season premiere on June 19, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 19 – 2.4 million viewers (Season Premiere)
June 26 – 2.2 million viewers

This averages out to 2.3 million viewers for June. New episodes aired on July 3 and July 10 with the next new episode of Yellowstone set to air on the Paramount Network set to air on Wednesday, July 17 at 10 PM.

THURSDAYS:

The Name of the Rose – The period piece drama aired the final two episodes of its debut season on Sundance TV during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 6 – 104,000 viewers
June 13 – 58,000 viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 81,000 viewers for June. The Name of the Rose has yet to be given a second season renewal.

Queen of the South – The USA Network drama returned for the start of its 4th season on June 6, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 6 – 988,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 13 – 790,000 viewers
June 20 – 863,000 viewers
June 27 – 832,000 viewers

This averages out to 868,000 viewers for June. New episodes aired on July 4 and July 11 with the next new episode of Queen of the South set to air on the USA Network on Wednesday, July 18 at 10 PM.

Siren – The Freeform mermaid drama returned for the start of its second season on June 13, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 13 – 557,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 20 – 425,000 viewers
June 27 – 388,000 viewers (Episode 1)
June 27 – 374,000 viewers (Episode 2)

This averages out to 436,000 viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 11 with the next new episode of Siren set to air on Freeform on Thursday, July 18 at 8 PM.

FRIDAYS:

Jett – The new Cinemax drama starring Carla Gugino debuted on June 14, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 14 – 120,000 viewers (DEBUT)
June 21 – 101,000 viewers
June 28 – 112,000 viewers

This averages out to 111,000 for June. New episodes aired on July 5 and July 12 with the next new episode of Jett set to air on Cinemax on Friday, July 19 at 10 PM.

SATURDAYS:

The Son – The second and final season of the AMC period piece drama aired its final five episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 1 – 559,000 viewers
June 8 – 559,000 viewers
June 15 – 593,000 viewers
June 22 – 646,000 viewers
June 29 – 656,000 viewers (Series Finale)

This averages out to 603,000 viewers for June.

Frankie Drake Mysteries – The Canadian drama debuted on Ovation on June 15, airing at least five episodes during the month, but ratings could not be tracked down for those episodes. New episodes aired on July 6 and July 13 with the final two episodes of Frankie Drake Mysteries set to air on Ovation on Saturday, July 20 at 7 PM.

SUNDAYS:

Billions – The Showtime drama aired the final two episodes from its fourth season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 782,000 viewers
June 9 – 793,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to 788,000 viewers for June. Billions has been renewed by Showtime for a 5th season, and will return sometime in 2020.

The Chi – The Showtime drama aired the final three episodes from its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 328,000 viewers
June 9 – 427,000 viewers
June 16 – 474,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to 410,000 viewers for June. The Chi has been renewed for a third season by Showtime, and is expected to return sometime in 2020.

The Spanish Princess – The period piece drama aired the final four episodes from its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 546,000 viewers
June 9 – 493,000 viewers
June 16 – 509,000 viewers
June 23 – 528,000 viewers (Season Finale)

This averages out to 519,000 viewers for June. The Spanish Princess has been renewed for a second season, and will return to Starz sometime in 2020.

American Princess – The Lifetime renaissance-themed drama debuted on June 2, airing 8 episodes of its first season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 372,000 viewers (DEBUT – Episode 1)
June 2 – 220,000 viewers (DEBUT – Episode 2)
June 9 – 240,000 viewers
June 16 – 234,000 viewers
June 23 – 235,000 viewers (Episode 1)
June 23 – 104,000 viewers (Episode 2)
June 30 – 248,000 viewers (Episode 1)
June 30 – 102,000 viewers (Episode 2)

This averages out to 219,000 viewers for June. The final two episodes aired on July 7. Those ratings will be provided in next month’s report. American Princess has yet to receive a second season order by Lifetime.

Vida – The half-hour Starz dramedy aired all 8 episodes from its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 140,000 viewers (Season Premiere – Episode 1)
June 2 – 128,000 viewers (Season Premiere – Episode 2)
June 9 – 112,000 viewers (Episode 1)
June 9 – 108,000 viewers (Episode 2)
June 16 – 103,000 viewers (Episode 1)
June 16 – 132,000 viewers (Episode 2)
June 23 – 112,000 viewers (Season Finale – Episode 1)
June 23 – 121,000 viewers (Season Finale – Episode 2)

This averages out to 120,000 viewers for June. Vida has been renewed for a third season by Starz, and is expected to return sometime in 2020.

Fear the Walking Dead – The AMC zombiefest series aired its 5th season premiere episode on June 2, airing five episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 2 million viewers (Season Premiere)
June 9 – 1.7 million viewers
June 16 – 1.8 million viewers
June 23 – 1.7 million viewers
June 30 – 1.7 million viewers

This averages out to 1.8 million viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of Fear the Walking Dead set to air on AMC on Sunday, July 14 at 9 PM.

Luther – The long-anticipated four episodes of the five season aired on BBC America during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 315,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 9 – 302,000 viewers
June 16 – 256,000 viewers
June 23 – 307,000 viewers (Finale)

This averages out to 295,000 viewers for June. A 6th season of Luther has yet to be announced by the BBC.

NOS4A2 – The new AMC thriller debuted on June 2, airing 5 episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 2 – 1.1 million (DEBUT)
June 9 – 891,000 viewers
June 16 – 921,000 viewers
June 23 – 729,000 viewers
June 30 – 737,000 viewers

This averages out to 876,000 for June. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of NOS4A2 set to air on AMC on Sunday, July 14 at 10 PM.

Big Little Lies – The second season of the HBO drama got started on June 9, airing 4 episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 9 – 1.4 million viewers (Season Premiere)
June 16 – 1.5 million viewers
June 23 – 1.6 million viewers
June 30 – 1.6 million viewers

This averages out to 1.5 million viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of Big Little Lies set to air on HBO on Sunday, July 14 at 9 PM

Claws – The third season of the TNT dramedy aired its season premiere on June 9, airing 4 episodes on both TNT and TBS during the month. The ratings for those episodes, per each network, are as follows:

June 16 – 826,000 viewers
June 23 – 619,000 viewers

Good Witch – The much anticipated 5th season of the Hallmark Channel family drama returned on June 9 and June 10 with a two-part season finale, airing 5 episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 9 – 2.2 million viewers (Season Premiere – Part 1 of 2)
June 10 – 2.1 million viewers (Season Premiere – Part 2 of 2)
June 16 – 2 million viewers
June 23 – 2.1 million viewers
June 30 – 2.1 million viewers

This averages out to 2.1 million viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next episode of Good Witch set to air on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, July 28 at 8 PM. The show is taking a 2-week break for the network’s “Christmas in July” event.

Euphoria – The HBO drama focused on teenagers debuted on June 16, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 16 – 577,000 viewers (DEBUT)
June 23 – 574,000 viewers
June 30 – 493,000 viewers

This averages out to 548,000 viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of Euphoria set to air on HBO on Sunday, July 14 at 10 PM.

City on a Hill – The Showtime drama set in the 1990s debuted on June 16, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

June 16 – 532,000 viewers (DEBUT)
June 23 – 446,000 viewers
June 30 – 409,000 viewers

This averages out to 462,000 viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of City on a Hill set to air on Showtime on Sunday, July 14 at 9 PM.

The Rook – The sci-fi laced Starz drama debuted on June 30, earning 307,000 viewers. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of The Rook set to air on Starz on Sunday, July 14 at 8 PM.

The Loudest Voice – The 7-part limited series about Roger Ailes debuted on June 30, earning 299,000 viewers. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of The Loudest Voice set to air on Showtime on Sunday, July 14 at 10 PM>

Endeavour – The sixth season of the PBS crime drama aired 3 of its 4 episodes during June with the final episode airing on July 7, but ratings for those episodes could not be tracked down. There is no word yet on whether Endeavour will return for a 7th season.

Deep State – The EPIX spy drama aired the final four new episodes of its third season during the month, but no ratings could be tracked down. Deep State has yet to be give a fourth season renewal by EPIX.

Perpetual Grace, LTD. – The new EPIX drama debuted on June 2, airing five episodes during the month, but ratings could not be tracked down. A new episode aired on July 7 with the next new episode of Perpetual Grace, LTD. set to air on EPIX on Sunday, July 14 at 10 PM.

MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES AND MINI-SERIES

There were 14 of made-for-TV movies which aired during June. Here are the ratings for those movies that could be tracked down:

The debut of the new drama – and Suits spin-off – Pearson will air on July 17 on the USA Network at 10 PM.

The Suits spin-off series centers on the world of recently disbarred NYC powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) as she adjusts to down and dirty Chicago politics. Newly appointed as Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak’s (Morgan Spector from Homeland and The Mist TV series) right hand fixer, Jessica is quickly embroiled in a crooked and dangerous new world where every action has far-reaching consequences. With her compulsion to win, Jessica is forced to reconcile her unstoppable drive with her desire to do the right thing – two things very much at odds.

The cast includes Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill), Chantel Riley (Wynonna Earp and Frankie Drake Mysteries), Eli Goree (Riverdale and Dead of Summer), Simon Kassianides (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Isabel Arraiza (The Oath).

On July 16, the new drama Pandora will debut on The CW at 8 PM.

This sci-fi action series is set in the year 2199, centering on a resourceful young woman who has lost everything but finds a new life at Earth’s Space Training Academy where she and her friends learn to defend the Galaxy from threats, both alien and human. When secrets about the nature of her own identity begin to surface, she must uncover the truth, and whether she will be humanity’s savior or the instrument of its destruction.
