RENEWALS
The CW has given early season renewals to the following: Batwoman, The Flash, Riverdale, Nancy Drew, All American, Black Lightning, Charmed, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies and Roswell, New Mexico. The network even ordered 13 more scripts of Katy Keene, the new drama that will debut on February 6. (Variety)
FX has renewed American Horror Story for THREE more seasons. (Variety)
NBC has been renewed through season FIVE, meaning a three season renewal. (Variety)
CBS All Access has given Star Trek: Picard has been given a second season renewal. (The Futon Critic)
TV NEWS
FOX has decided to scrap spin-off includes for 24, including a potential prequel series that was going to center on a young Jack Bauer. (TV Line)
BOX OFFICE CASTING NEWS
It has finally been confirmed that actor Colin Farrell will play Penguin in the upcoming Batman flick that finds Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. The cast includes Paul Dano as Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Peter Sarsgaard will play a mystery role. (Entertainment Weekly)
Actor Timothee Chalamet is expected to star as Bob Dylan in the box office film Going Electric that will follow the singer’s rise in fame on his way to become a folk music icon. (Variety)
Actor Nicholas Hoult will star opposite Tom Cruise in the next Mission: Impossible film. It has yet to be confirmed, but Hoult is expected to play a villain. (Variety)
TV CASTING NEWS
Actor Dennis Haysbert (The Unit and 24) will play Lucifer’s dad – God himself – in the fifth and final season of Lucifer when it rolls out on Netflix. He will appear throughout the final season. (Yahoo)
Actress Patricia Arquette (The Act and Medium) will star in the upcoming Apple+ drama Severance that will also star Adam Scott. This is a workplace drama that introduces Lumen Industries, a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level. Scott will star as Mark, an employee with a dark past trying to put himself back together while Arquette will star as Mark’s boss. (Variety)
Actress Connie Britton is in talks to reprise her role as former 9-1-1 operator Abby in the FOX drama 9-1-1. (TV Line)
Actress Kelsey Asbille (Yellowstone) has landed a key role in the upcoming fourth season of Fargo, which will be set in 1950 in Kansas City, MO. The locale serves as the crossroads and collisions of two migrations — Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, and African Americans who left the south in great numbers to escape Jim Crow, both fighting for a piece of the American dream. In Kansas City, two criminal syndicates — one Italian, led by Donatello Fadda, one African American, led by Loy Cannon (Chris Rock) — have struck an uneasy peace, which the heads of both families have cemented by trading their youngest sons. Actor Justin Chambers has left Grey’s Anatomy for good. His final episode actually aired on November 14. (Entertainment Weekly)
Actress Sophia Bush (Chicago P.D. and One Tree Hill) will recur in the last half of This Is Us. Details about her role haven’t been revealed, but it is said she will play a character involved in Kevin’s (series regular Justin Hartley) storyline. (TV Line and Deadline)
Actor Hugh Dancy (Hannibal) will have a major recurring role in the upcoming fourth season of The Good Fight, playing Caleb, a former military officer who now works as an associate at the huge multi-national law firm that has acquired Reddick Boseman & Lockhart; but his wit and decency threaten to make him a better fit with Diane and Co. than the overlords.
