What did you watch on TV last night. Please share.
On Sunday, the new UPtv movie Mr. Write will debut.
The movie focuses on what happens when book editor Dori Shephard (Charlotte Sullivan from Rookie Blue) meets her idol, romantic novelist Michael Rothchild (Corey Sevier from Cedar Cove), who she has crushed to learn he doesn’t really believe in true love. But when Dori’s own romance falls apart, it’s Michael who works to renew her belief in love.
We got the chance to talk to star Charlotte Sullivan about the film and more.
Can you tell us a little about Mr. Write beyond the synopsis?
It’s basically like The Grinch only romantic.
What drew you to the role of Dori?
I had never done a romantic comedy before. I usually play sluts, cops or people who die from terminal illnesses.
Are there any funny behind the scenes stories from the filming of Mr. Write you can share with us?
I may have thrown up out of a window in a moving van but I might be confusing this with another movie.
You’ve had an interesting acting career. Do you want to write or direct?
I would love nothing more than to smoke cigarettes, speak through a megaphone, wear full piece suits and orchestrate my friends to do strange and beautiful things.
Do you have a dream project that you want to work on?
I want to work with Mathew Gordon. He’s my favorite actor.
Can you share one thing about yourself that might surprise your fans?
I’m allergic to blue eyeliner. My eyeballs expand to a disproportionate size à la Rodney Dangerfield and my cheeks engorge like a puffer fish.
Any advice you can give an aspiring actor?
Keep it simple and make it about the work. Stay curious, read, listen to music and let your instincts lead you down a research rabbit hole.
Do you have a charity that you support?
My best friend Franny works for UNICEF so I’ve been lucky enough to witness the extraordinary work that she’s done. I continue to support them each and every year but I’m ashamed to say that I don’t think I do enough and I’d like to change that.
