The first month of 2020 is at an end, and it’s time to look at how all of the cable dramas performed throughout Januar

Let’s take a look at the dramas first:

CABLE DRAMAS

MONDAYS:

The New Pope – The sequel to The Young Pope debuted on HBO on January 13, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 13 – 210,000 viewers (DEBUT)
January 20 – 286,000 viewers
January 27 – 215,000 viewers

This averages out to 237,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 3 and February 10 with the next new episode of The New Pope set to air on HBO on Monday, February 17 at 9 PM.

Carter – The WGN America series returned for the start of its second season on January 20, airing two episodes during the month. Ratings for the premiere episode could not be tracked down while the ratings for the January 27 episode were 98,000 viewers. New episodes aired on February 3 and February 10 with the next new episode of Carter set to air on Monday, February 17 on WGN America at midnight.

TUESDAYS:

The Haves and the Have Nots – The long-running OWN soap opera returned for its 7th season on January 7, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 7 – 1.6 million viewers (Season Premiere)
January 14 – 1.5 million viewers
January 21 – 1.5 million viewers
January 28 – 1.6 million viewers

This averages out to 1.6 million viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 4 and February 11 with the next new episode of The Haves and the Have Nots set to air on OWN on Tuesday, February 18 at 9 PM.

Project Blue Book – The History Channel period drama returned for the start of its 2nd season on January 21, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 21 – 1.4 million viewers (Season Premiere)
January 28 – 1.3 million viewers

This averages out to 1.4 million viewers. New episodes aired on February 4 and February 11 with the next new episode of Project Blue Book set to air on the History Channel on February 18 at 10 PM.

WEDNESDAYS:

Vikings – The History Channel period drama aired the last six episodes of the first half of its sixth and final season throughout January and in the first week of February. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 1 – 885,000 viewers
January 8 – 827,000 viewers
January 15 – 1.1 million viewers
January 22 – 1 million viewers
January 29 – 926,000 viewers
February 5 – 1 million viewers (Mid-Season Finale)

This averages out to 956,000 viewers for that time period. The remainder of the sixth and final season of Vikings will air at a later time this year on the History Channel.

Party of Five – The Freefrom reboot debuted for two hours on January 8, airing five episodes throughout the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 8 – 442,000 viewers (DEBUT – Hour 1)
January 8 – 317,000 viewers (DEBUT – Hour 2)
January 15 – 329,000 viewers
January 22 – 233,000 viewers
January 29 – 239,000 viewers

This averages out to 312,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 5 and February 12 with the next new episodes of Party of Five will air on Freeform on Wednesday, February 19 at 9 PM.

Good Trouble – The spin-off of The Fosters returned for the latter half of its second season on January 15, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 15 – 250,000 viewers (Mid-Season Return)
January 22 – 160,000 viewers
January 29 – 179,000 viewers

This averages out to 196,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 5 and February 12 with the next new episode of Good Trouble set to air on Freeform on Wednesday, February 19 at 10 PM.

The Magicians – The fan favorite Syfy series returned for the start of its fifth season on January 15, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 15 – 429,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
January 22 – 355,000 viewers
January 29 – 374,000 viewers

This averages out to 386,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 5 and February 12 with the next new episode of The Magicians set to air on Syfy on Wednesday, February 19 at 10 PM.

68 Whiskey – The military themed drama debuted on the Paramount Network on January 15, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 15 – 866,000 viewers (DEBUT)
January 22 – 560,000 viewers
January 29 – 513,000 viewers

This averages out to 646,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 5 and February 12 with the next new episode of 68 Whiskey set to air on the Paramount Network on Wednesday, February 19 at 10 PM.

THURSDAYS:

The Bold Type – The Freeform drama returned for the start of its fourth season on January 23, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 23 – 133,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
January 30 – 230,000 viewers

This averages out to 182,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 6 and February 13 with the next new episode of The Bold Type set to air on Freeform on Thursday, February 20 at 9 PM.

FRIDAYS:

There were no cable dramas airing new episodes on Saturday night during January.

SATURDAYS:

There were no cable dramas airing new episodes on Saturday night during January.

SUNDAYS:

Doctor Who – Season 12 of the long-running series premiered on New Year’s Day and then moved over to its regular timeslot on Sunday nights, airing five episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 1 – 790,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
January 5 – 589,000 viewers
January 12 – 468,000 viewers
January 19 – 490,000 viewers
January 26 – 549,000 viewers

This averages out to 577,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 2 and February 9 with the next new episode of Doctor Who set to air on BBC America on Sunday, February 16 at 8 PM.

Power – The long-running Starz drama aired the final episodes of its 6th and final season throughout January with its series finale airing on February 9. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 5 – 1.2 million viewers
January 12 – 1.1 million viewers
January 19 – 903,000 viewers
January 26 – 1.1 million viewers
February 9 – 1.2 million viewers (Series Finale)

This averages out to 1.1 million viewers for that time period.

Dare Me – The new USA Network drama aired four episodes of its debut season throughout January. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 5 – 349,000 viewers
January 12 – 395,000 viewers
January 19 – 397,000 viewers
January 26 – 549,000 viewers

This averages out to 379,000 viewers for January. A new episode aired on February 9 with the next new episode of Dare Me set to air on the USA Network on Sunday, February 16 at 10 PM.

Ray Donovan – The final three episodes of the Showtime show’s 7th season aired during January. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

January 5 – 1 million viewers
January 12 – 923,000 viewers
January 19 – 1.1 million viewers (Series Finale)

This averages out to 1 million viewers for January. Ray Donovan was cancelled by Showtime after the airing of its final episode.

The Outsider – The new HBO thriller debut on January 12, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows;

January 12 – 724,000 viewers (DEBUT, Hour 1)
January 12 – 603,000 viewers (DEBUT, Hour 2)
January 19 – 858,000 viewers
January 26 – 988,000 viewers

This averages out to 793,000 viewers for January. New episodes aired on February 2 and February 9 with the next new episode of The Outsider set to air on HBO on Sunday, February 16 at 9 PM.

Sanditon – The 8-part series loosely based on the final, unfinished writing by Jane Austen debuted on PBS on January 12, airing three episodes during the month; but no ratings could be tracked down. New episodes of Sanditon aired on February 2 and February 9 with the next new episode set to air on PBS on Sunday, February 16 at 9 PM.

Vienna Blood – The 6-part PBS period piece debuted on January 19, airing two episodes during the month; but no ratings could be tracked down. New episodes of Vienna Blod aired on February 2 and February 9 with the next new episode set to air on PBS on Sunday, February 16 at 10 PM.

MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES AND MINI-SERIES

There were 12 made-for-TV movies that aired during January. Here are the ratings for those movies that could be tracked down:

Winter in Vail (Hallmark Channel) – 2.5 million viewers
Hearts of Winter (Hallmark Channel) – 2.3 million viewers
Love in Winterland (Hallmark Channel) – 2.3 million viewers
Love on Iceland (Hallmark Channel) – 2.2 million viewers
Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) – 1.4 million viewers
Roux the Day: Gourmet Detective Mystery (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) – 1.4 million viewers
A Beautiful Place to Die: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) – 1.3 million viewers
Amazing Winter Romance (Hallmark Channel) – 1.3 million viewers

No ratings could be tracked down for the following January movies:

The UPtv movie Twist of Fate will debut on February 16 at 7 PM.

While stuck in her car after an accident, Kelly makes an emergency call and as the operator Jeff attempts to keep her calm, a true bond forms. Each spends months trying to find each other, until an unexpected coincidence just may provide the break they have needed.

On February 16, the new show Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will officially debut at 9 PM on NBC. [The show aired it’s sneak peek on the network back on January 7.]

Zoey Clarke (Jane Levy) is a whip-smart computer coder forging her way in San Francisco. After an unusual event she starts to hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through songs. At first, she questions her own sanity but soon realizes this unwanted curse may just be an incredibly wonderful gift.

The cast includes Lauren Graham, Peter Gallagher, Mary Steenburgen, Skylar Astin and Andrew Leeds.

The new movie Picture Perfect Mysteries: Dead Over Diamonds will debut on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on February 16 at 8 PM.

Small-town wedding photographer Allie (Alexa PenaVega) finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery when the groom is shot dead during the first dance. Suspicion turns to Allie’s brother Greg, the ex-boyfriend of the bride, so she launches her own investigation to clear his name. As Allie pours over photographs for possible suspects, she tries to help Sam (Carlos PenaVega), the newest Detective on the force, as they hunt for the killer and the missing murder weapon.

CHiPS alum Erik Estrada co-stars.
