It’s hard to believe – given all that is happening in the world – that we already halfway through the year. And thankfully we still have a number of new programming to watch on the cable networks throughout the month, including dramas and made-for-TV movies.
Let’s take a look at the ratings for the dramas first:
CABLE DRAMAS
MONDAYS:
Barkskins – The period piece National Geographic limited series aired the remaining 8 episodes of its one-time run during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 1 (Episode 1) – 655,000 viewers
June 1 (Episode 2) – 573,000 viewers
June 8 (Episode 1) – 762,000 viewers
June 8 (Episode 2) – 586,000 viewers
June 15 (Episode 1) – 788,000 viewers
June 15 (Episode 2) – 622,000 viewers (Series Finale)
This averages out to 664,000 for June. Barkskins was a limited series consisting of 10 episodes only.
TUESDAYS:
If Loving You Is Wrong – The OWN drama aired the final three episodes EVER of its series run during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 2 – 1.1 million viewers
June 9 – 1.1 million viewers
June 16 – 1.2 million viewers (Series Finale)
This average out to 1.1 million viewers for June.
Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story – The anthology series debuted back-to-back episodes of its latest version on June 2 as well as four new episodes of its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 2 (Hour 1) – 1.1 million viewers (Season Premiere)
June 2 (Hour 2) – 886,000 viewers
June 9 – 905,000 viewers
June 16 – 805,000 viewers
June 23 – 796,000 viewers
June 30 – 671,000 viewers
This averages out to 861,000 viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 7 with the season finale of Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story set to air on the USA Network on Tuesday, July 14 at 10 PM.
WEDNESDAYS:
There were no cable dramas airing on Wednesdays in June.
THURSDAYS:
The Bold Type – The Freeform drama returned for the remainder of its fourth season on June 11, airing its mid-season premiere along with two additional new episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 11 – 188,000 viewers (Mid-Season Premiere)
June 18 – 180,000 viewers
June 25 – 171,000 viewers
This averages out to 180,000 viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 2 with the next new episode of The Bold Type set to air on Freeform on Thursday, July 9 at 10 PM.
NOTE: Vagrant Queen aired its finale on Syfy on June 4, but shortly after that the network pulled the plug on the show, cancelling the series after one season.
FRIDAYS:
Trackers – The South African-based crime drama debuted on Cinemax on June 5, airing four episodes during the month; however, ratings could not be tracked down for any of those episodes. A new episode of Trackers aired on July 3 with the season finale of Trackers set to air on Cinemax on Friday, July 10 at 10 PM.
SATURDAYS:
Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime – The 2015 mystery series debuted on Ovation on June 13, airing the first three of six episodes in June. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 13 – 146,000 viewers (DEBUT)
June 20 – No ratings for this episode could be tracked down
June 27 – 96,000 viewers
This averages out to approximately 121,000 viewers for June. The second half (three more episodes) of Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime will get underway on Ovation on Saturday, July 11 at 7 PM.
SUNDAYS:
Good Witch – The long-running Hallmark Channel favorite aired four new episodes from its sixth season during the month as well as its season finale on July 5. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 7 – 1.9 million viewers
June 14 – 1.7 million viewers
June 21 – 2 million viewers
June 28 – 1.8 million viewers
July 5 – 1.9 million viewers (Finale)
This averages out to 1.9 million viewers for that time frame. The Hallmark Channel has yet to officially announce a 7th season for Good Witch.
Hightown – This new crime drama aired four new episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 7 – 228,000 viewers
June 14 – 179,000 viewers
June 21 – 219,000 viewers
June 28 – 248,000 viewers
This averages out to 219,000 viewers for June. The final episode of the debut season of Hightown is set to air on Starz on Sunday, July 12 at 8 PM.
Snowpiercer – The TNT adaptation of the box office movie aired four new episodes from its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 7 – 1.2 million viewers
June 14 – 1.2 million viewers
June 21 – 955,000 viewers
June 28 – 1.2 million viewers
This averages out to 1.1 million viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 5 with the two-hour finale of Snowpiercer set to air on TNT on Sunday, July 12 at 9 and 10 PM.
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels – The spin-off series aired the final four episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 7 – 360,000 viewers
June 14 – 289,000 viewers
June 21 – 380,000 viewers
June 28 – 307,000 viewers (Finale)
This averages out to 334,000 viewers for June. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has yet to be renewed by Showtime for a second season.
NOS4A2 – The thriller returned for the start of its second season on both AMC and BBC America on June 21, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
AMC:
June 21 – 417,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 28 – 432,000 viewers
BBC America:
June 21 – 84,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 28 – 95,000 viewers
This averages out to 424,000 for AMC and 90,000 for BBC America for June. A new episode aired on July 5 with the next new episode of NOS4A2 set to air on both AMC and BBC America on Sunday, July 12 at 10 PM.
Yellowstone – The Kevin Costner-led Paramount Network drama returned for the start of its 4th season on June 21, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 21 – 4.2 million viewers (Season Premiere)
June 28 – 3.6 million viewers
This averages out to 3.9 million viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 5 with the next new episode of Yellowstone set to air on the Paramount Network on Sunday, July 12 at 10 PM.
The Chi – The coming-of-age, Chicago-based Showtime drama returned for the start of its third season on June 21 airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 21 – 348,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
June 28 – 347,000 viewers
This averages out to 348,000 viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 5 with the next new episode of The Chi set to air on Showtime on Sunday, July 12 at 9 PM.
Perry Mason – The Depression-era set adaptation of the legendary lawyer – currently a poor private detective – debuted on HBO on June 21, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
June 21 – 884,000 viewers (DEBUT)
June 28 – 799,000 viewers
This averages out to 842,000 viewers for June. A new episode aired on July 5 with the next new episode of Perry Mason set to air on HBO on Sunday, July 12 at 9 PM.
Grantchester – The period piece drama debuted on PBS on June 14, airing three episodes during the month; but no ratings could be tracked down. A new episode on July 5 with the next new episode of Grantchester is set to air on Sunday, July 12 at 9 PM.
Beecham House – The other period piece drama on PBS debuted on June 14, airing three episodes during the month; but no ratings could be tracked down. A new episode aired on July 5 with the next new episode of Beecham House is set to air on Sunday, July 12 at 10 PM.
MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES AND MINI-SERIES
There were 8 made-for-TV movies that aired during June. Here are the ratings for those movies that could be tracked down:
Love in the Forecast (Hallmark Channel) – 2.1 million viewers
Love Under the Olive Tree (Hallmark Channel) – 1.7 million viewers
The Warrant (INSP) [this was the worldwide TV premiere of the movie] – 613,000 viewers
