Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:
On September 21, FOX will debut the Spectrum Originals drama L.A.’s Finest at 8 PM followed by the debut of the new series Filthy Rich at 9 PM. L.A.’s Finest follows Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has seemingly left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mom with an equally complex history, Syd is forced to confront how her unapologetic lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret. The cast includes Zach Gilford, Ryan McPartlin, Duane Martin, Sophie Reynolds and Ernie Hudson. Filthy Rich is a southern Gothic family soap focusing on what happens when the patriarch (veteran actor Gerald McRaney) of a mega-rich Southern family – famed for creating a wildly successful Christian television network – dies in a plane crash, his wife (Kim Cattrall, who is also a producer on the show) and family are stunned to learn that he fathered three illegitimate children, all of whom are written into his will, threatening their family name and fortune. The cast includes Steve Harris and Aubrey Dollar.
The Spectrum Original drama Manhunt: Deadly Games (from 2017-2018) will debut on CBS on September 21 at 10 PM. The true crime anthology chronicles the aftermath of the terrorist attack at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, starring Cameron Britton (Stitchers and The Umbrella Academy), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) and Carla Gugino.
On September 23, the season finale of season one of Coroner will air on The CW at 9 PM.
The box office movie Enola Holmes will debut online on Netflix on September 23. The film chronicles the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister Enola (Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things), as she embarks on a quest to find her missing mother. Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) plays her brother, the legendary Sherlock Holmes and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games franchise) plays her other brother Mycroft. Helena Bonham Carter plays Enola’s mother Eudoria Holmes. The cast also includes Fiona Shaw (the Harry Potter franchise) and Frances de la Tour (Outlander).
On September 24, Season 1 of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on CBS at 10 PM.
The Disney+ movie Secret Society of Second-Born Royals will debut online on September 25. The film follows Sam (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), a rebellious princess second in line to the throne of the kingdom of Illyria. Just as Sam’s lack of interest in the royal way of life is at an all-time high, she is stunned to learn that she has superpowers and belongs to a secret society with a longstanding tradition of covertly keeping the peace throughout the kingdom. The movie follows Sam’s adventures at a top-secret training program for a new class of second-born royals tasked with saving the world. The cast includes Skylar Astin, Elodie Yung, Niles Fitch, Ashley Liao, Noah Lomax, Olivia Deeble, Greg Bryk, Isabella Blake-Thomas and Faly Rakotohavana.
On September 25, the new 8-part conspiracy thriller Utopia will debut on Amazon Prime. This series is about saving the world while trying to find your place in it, centering on a group of comic fans who meet online and bond over their obsession of a seemingly fictional comic called Utopia. The cast includes Dan Byrd, Jessica Rothe, Sasha Lane, John Cusack and Rainn Wilson [among others].
The new movie Falling for Look Lodge will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 9 PM on September 26. Lily dreams of being a hotel event coordinator and is thrilled when she’s given the chance to do so by helping Noah, a hotel guest, finish planning his sister Justine’s wedding at a remote lodge. The movie stars Clark Backo and Jonathan Keltz.
On September 27, the two-night four-hour movie The Comey Rule will debut on Showtime at 9 PM. Jeff Daniels stars as former FBI Director James Comey while Brendan Gleeson stars as President Donald J. Trump in this 2-part, four-hour limited series that is an immersive, behind-the-headlines account of the historically turbulent events surrounding the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath, which divided a nation. The ensemble cast includes Brian D’Arcy James, Damon Gupton, Holly Hunter, Jennifer Ehle, Jonathan Banks, Oona Chaplin, Peter Coyote, Richard Thomas, Scoot McNairy, Steven Pasquale, T.R. Knight and William Sadler. The second half will air on Showtime at 9 PM on September 28
The UPtv movie Love Unplugged will debut on September 27 at 7 PM. Insufficient funds force newlyweds Matthew and Rebecca (Sean Faris and Mischa Barton) to make some difficult financial decisions. After a blackout in the city forces the couple to go without their electronic devices, they realize their marriage may need more then financial mending. The cast includes Alyssa Diaz, Markie Post and the late David Ogden Stiers.
Also on September 27, Fargo will air its 4th season premiere on FX at 10 PM.
Lastly also on September 27, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will air the sequel movie JL Family Ranch: The Wedding Gift at 9 PM. Amidst preparations for the wedding of rancher John Landsburg’s eldest daughter Rebecca at the newly opened JL Family Ranch Bed & Breakfast, the unexpected return of lifelong family enemy Tap Peterson’s son, stirs up old grudges and puts the Peterson Ranch in grave jeopardy. The all-star cast includes Jon Voight, James Caan, Teri Polo, Bo Derek, Trevor Donovan, Skyler Shaye, Abby Brammell, Dylan Walsh and Judson Mills.
