On November 21, the holiday movie A Nashville Christmas Carol will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM

Vivienne Wake (Jessy Schram), a workaholic television producer in charge of a country music Christmas special showcasing newcomer Alexis (Raelynn), never lets personal feelings get in the way of business. On the verge of accepting a job in LA, and with the return of Gavin Chase (Wes Brown), her childhood sweetheart and manager to the special’s headliner, Belinda (country singer Sara Evans), she receives a visit from the ghost of her recently deceased mentor, Marilyn (country singer Wynonna Judd).

Her mentor warns her current path leads to a dark future and has recruited both the Spirit of Christmas Past (country singer Kix Brooks) and the Spirit of Christmas Present (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) to help her get back on track. The Spirits’ time-jumping adventures force Vivienne to take hold of her life.

On November 21, the Lifetime holiday movie Feliz NaviDAD will debut at 8 PM.

David Morales (Mario Lopez), an Arizona high school principal and single dad, has lost the holiday spirit after also losing his wife a few years ago during the Christmas season. Now, David will do anything to avoid Christmas so he moonlights as a delivery driver during the holidays.

But this year David’s 14-year-old daughter, Noel (Paulina Chavez), and his live-in sister, Marissa (Marycarmen Lopez), are determined to bring the yuletide spirit back to the family and, with a little luck, also help David find love again via online dating. So when Sophie (AnnaLynne McCord), a witty musician and customer on David’s delivery route, swipes right on him, something magical happens between them.

The box office thriller film Run will actually debut on Hulu online on On November 20.

They say you can never escape a mother’s love… but for Chloe, that’s not a comfort – it’s a threat. There’s something unnatural, even sinister about the relationship between Chloe (newcomer Kiera Allen) and her mom, Diane (Sarah Paulson). Diane has raised her daughter in total isolation, controlling every move she’s made since birth, and there are secrets that Chloe’s only beginning to grasp.

From the visionary writers, producers and director of the breakout film Searching, comes a suspense thriller that shows that when mom gets a little too close, you need to run.

Here is the long list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On November 16, the season premiere of All Rise will air on CBS at 9 PM followed by the season premiere of Bull at 10 PM; as well as the season premiere of His Dark Materials will air at 9 PM on HBO.

The new ABC drama Big Sky will debut on November 17 at 10:01 PM. Private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt (Kyle Bunbury and Ryan Phillippe) join forces with his estranged wife and ex-cop, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), to search for two sisters (Natalie Alyn Lind and Jade Pettyjohn) who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.

Also on November 17, the season premieres of NCIS, FBI and FBI: Most Wanted will all air on CBS at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively.

The new Hulu drama No Man’s Land will debut online on November 18. The series dives into the depths of the Syrian civil war through the eyes of Antoine (Felix Moati), a young French man in search of his estranged, presumed to be dead sister. While unraveling the mystery, piece by piece, Antoine ends up joining forces with a unit of Kurdish female fighters, fierce women and ISIS’ biggest nightmare, and travels with them in ISIS occupied territory. Antoine’s journey crosses paths with adventurers and anarchists, spies and innocent victims, and provides a unique look at the tragic events in Syria, and the way they affect the entire world.

Also on November 18, the second season premiere of For Life will debut on ABC at 10 PM.

The one-hour retrospective for Supernatural will air on The CW on November 19 at 8 PM followed by the series finale of the long-running series at 9 PM.

Also on November 19, the Passionflix movie Gabriel’s Inferno, Part III will debut online. This is the 3rd and final part of the made-for-TV movie version of the best-selling novel of the same name about Gabriel Emerson (Giulio Berruti), a brilliant and enigmatic professor of Dante studies at the University of Toronto and Julianne Mitchell (Melanie Zanetti), a compassionate, kind young woman still struggling to overcome a childhood of neglect and abuse, who captures Gabriel’s heart. Part 2 (which aired back in May) ended with Julianne receiving a phone call from her abusive ex-boyfriend Simon, and the conclusion finds Gabriel helping Julia to start the healing process, helping to overcome her past. Together, they will heal each other. This film finds them travelling from Toronto to Pennsylvania to Florence.

The season finale of Gangs of London will air online on AMC+ on November 19; and that same night, the season premiere of A Million Little Things will air on ABC at 10:01 PM.

Additionally on November 19,t he Netflix sequel movie The Princess Switch: Switched Again will debut online. The story follows Margaret Delacourt, the Duchess of Montenaro, who suddenly inherits the throne to her home country of Montenaro. As her Christmas coronation approaches, she and Stacy switch places once again so Margaret can fix her relationship with Stacy’s friend Kevin. Unbeknownst to both women, a third look-alike, Margaret’s wicked cousin Lady Fiona, disguises herself as Margaret in a scheme to steal the throne. Vanessa Hudgens plays all three roles (Margaret, Stacy and Fiona) with Sam Palladio and Nick Sagar back as Prince Edward and Kevin respectively.

The final episode of The Right Stuff will air online on Disney+ on November 20.

Also on November 20, the Lifetime holiday movie A Taste of Christmas will debut at 8 PM. When Natalie (Anni Krueger) learns her cousin Francesca (Nia Vardalos) must cancel the Christmas Eve opening of her new Italian restaurant, Natalie’s heart goes out to all of the guests who were planning on attending. Since no one should be alone on Christmas, Natalie decides to make the opening happen any way she can. However, the attractive but pessimistic Chef Stefano (Gilles Marini) believes it’s impossible – there are only three days until Christmas. But Natalie insists that problems are just opportunities in disguise and soon she convinces Stefano that they can do it. At first, these opposites do not attract, but feelings begin to change when they find themselves working side-by-side. With Stefano’s help Natalie learns that cooking, like Christmas, isn’t about perfection. It’s about sharing it with the ones you love.

Also on November 21, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries holiday film The Angel Tree will debut at 10 PM. A writer (Jill Wagner) seeks the identity of the person who helps grant wishes that are placed upon the angel tree, and in the process, reconnects with her childhood friend (Lucas Bryant).

The HBO special event Between the World and Me, based on the best-seller of the same name by Ta-Nehisi Coates, will debut on November 21 at 8 PM [this special will also stream on HBO Max]. Originally adapted and staged by the Apollo Theater in 2018, the special will combine elements of that production, including powerful readings from the book and will also incorporate documentary footage from the actors’ home life, archival footage and animation. Among those featured in this special will be author Ta-Nehisi Coates as well as Angela Bassett, Courtney B. Vance, Joe Morton, Kendrick Sampson, Mahershala Ali, Oprah Winfrey, Phylicia Rashad, Wendell Pierce and Yara Shahidi [among many others].

On November 22, The Outpost will move to its new date today, airing on The CW at 9 PM; that same night the American Music Awards will air at 8 PM on ABC; and also on November 22, the finale of The Trouble with Maggie Cole will air on PBS at 8 PM followed by the finale of Roadkill at 9 PM.

The Lifetime holiday movie Homemade Christmas will debut on November 22 at 8 PM. Every year, Megan (Michelle Argyris), an ambitious young woman uses the weeks leading up to Christmas to become the ultimate holiday freelance assistant for hire, helping with any Christmas related tasks for extra income. But when the opportunity arrives to save a Christmas party and dazzle her crush, she must choose between the man of her aspirations and Mr. Right. Travis Nelson co-stars.

Also on November 22, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries holiday movie A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love will debut at 10 PM. After 15 years, Pat (Sam Page) moves home from Hawaii with his two sons and through a series of coincidences, or Godwinks, ends up stuck in traffic next to his high school sweetheart, Margie (Brooke D’Orsay), at Christmas.

The Christmas House is the latest holiday movie to debut on the Hallmark Channel on November 22 at 8 PM. Working through some difficult decisions, Mitchell family matriarch Phylis (Sharon Lawrence) and patriarch Bill (Treat Williams), have summoned their two grown sons – TV star, Mike Mitchell (Robert Buckley) and Brandon Mitchell (Jonathan Bennett) – home for the holidays. It is their hope that bringing the family together to recreate the Christmas house, will help them find resolution and make a memorable holiday for the entire family and community. As Brandon and his husband Jake (Brad Harder) make the trip home, they are anxiously awaiting a call about the adoption of their first child. Meanwhile, Mike reconnects with Andi (Ana Ayora), his high school sweetheart.

Also on November 22, the UPtv holiday movie Dashing Home for Christmas will debut at 7 PM. Emily Nichols (Paniz Zade), a successful business consultant, has missed every family gathering this year, so getting home for Christmas is very important to her. But when a series of mishaps – from delayed public transportation to diverted flights and broken-down trains and finally, a lost wallet – put her holiday plans in jeopardy, she’s forced to find a way home with a fellow road warrior, Simon Allein (Adrian Spencer). While Emily is more a Type A planner who hates disruptions and inconveniences, Simon is a go-with-the-flow type who sees the bright side to any misfortune. So, having to rely upon one another to get to their final destination tests their will, but also provides ample opportunity to get to know each other and, perhaps even, fall in love. The cast includes Suzanne Cyr and Andrew Bushell.

The mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead will air on AMC on November 22 at 9 PM.

Also on November 22, the holiday film Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square will debut online on Netflix. Regina Fuller (Christine Baranski), a wealthy and unpleasant woman, returns to her small hometown in the wake of her father’s death to evict everyone right before the holiday season. Following an encounter with an angel (Dolly Parton), a rekindling of an old romance and stories from the local community, she has a change of heart. The cast includes Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, Jeanine Mason and Josh Segarra. The film was directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen and will feature 14 original songs by Dolly (from her first holiday album release in 30 years).

Lastly also on November 22, UPtv, for the 5th year in a row, will start its Thanksgiving marathon event, airing ALL 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls starting at 11 PM. This marathon will run through November 30 at 3 AM. The four Gilmore Girls: Year in the Life movies will air back-to-back starting on November 29 at 11 AM.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

Emily in Paris has been renewed by Netflix for a second season. (Variety)

Netflix has canceled the supernatural drama The Order after two seasons. (TV Line)

HBO has pulled the plug on the horror crime drama The Outsider after only one season. (Variety)

Netflix has given a third season renewal to The Umbrella Academy. (Variety)

DEVELOPMENT NEWS

The CW has ordered a pilot for a spin-off to Black Lightning that will center on the character Painkiller, starring Jordan Calloway. The show would follow Khalil Payne (Calloway), a young man ridden with the guilt of his troubled past from his former life in Freeland City. As a super-enhanced killing machine known as Painkiller, he was both a member of Tobias Whale’s gang and a weapon of Agent Odell and the shadowy ASA. After attempting to bury the darker, devastatingly lethal Painkiller part of his persona, Khalil has distanced himself away from everyone he knows and loves in a new city, Akashic Valley, in order to find peace. But peace never comes easy for men with pasts like his. As his violent, destructive history crashes his idyllic new beginning, Khalil is thrust back into action with a new mission – bring justice where he once gave out punishment – but to do that, he will first have to deal with and harness his darker side. (Variety)

The series The Mysterious Benedict Society, based on the book series by Trenton Lee Stewart, is being moved to Disney+ from its original home of Hulu. The 8-episode series will star Tony Hale, Kristen Schaal and Ryan Hurst [among others]. Placed undercover at a boarding school known as The Institute, a group of orphans must foil a nefarious plot with global ramifications while creating a new sort of family along the way. (Variety)

The CW is developing Modern Austen, a contemporary reimagining of Jane Austen’s novels. IT will be a one-hour anthology series that will focus on her beloved novels in six modern stories. (Deadline)

TV CASTING NEWS

Actor Robert Patrick has joined the spin-off series Peacemaker that will air on HBO Max, joining John Cena, who has the lead role. Patrick will star as Auggie Smith. The series is to explore the origins of Peacemaker, a man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. (Variety)

Actress Ruth Wilson and actor Andrew Scott are set to star in the movie Oslo, based on the Tony Award-winning play by J.T. Rogers [that counts Steven Spielberg among its executive producers. The movie will focus on a committed group of Israelis, Palestinians and one Norwegian couple that led to the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords. Wilson will play Mona Juul, a Norwegian foreign minister while Scott will play Terje Rød-Larsen, a sociologist and Mona’s husband. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Actress Millie Bobby Brown is reteaming with Netflix on the fantasy film Damsel, following the success of her recent fall hit Enola Holmes with the streamer. Brown will not only star but also executive produce. She will play Princess Elodie, who thinks she is marrying Prince Henry, only to find out that she is being sacrificed to a dragon. (Deadline)

Broadway star Audra McDonald has been cast in the Julian Fellowes period drama The Gilded Age that will be on HBO. She will play Dorothy Scott, the wife of a powerful man and the backbone of her family. (Deadline and The Futon Critic)

MOVIE CASTING NEWS

Actor Sylvester Stallone has joined the ensemble cast of The Suicide Squad, the stand-alone seque. But it is unclear what role he will play. (Variety)

Actor Paul Mescal (Normal People) will star opposite actress Melissa Barrera (Vida and the upcoming In the Heights) in the modern-day reimagining of Carmen, one of the world’s most celebrated operas. Mescal replaces Jamie Dornan in the role while Barrera will play the lead role. (Deadline)

Actress Danai Gurira will play the title role in the upcoming box office movie The Fighting Shirley Chisholm, the first black congresswoman. The story will follow Chisholm’s historic 1972 presidential run. The film is not a biopic; rather it’s focused more centrally on the campaign and how “the Chisholm Trail was populated by young people who sought social and political change during one of the most turbulent times in American history. (Deadline)

Since Johnny Depp was forced out of his role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise it is rumored that actor Mads Mikkelsen just might take over the role of wizard Gellert Grindelwald. (Variety)

Dwayne Johnson and his producing partner Dany Garcia are teaming up with Universal Pictures for a relaunch of The Scorpion King, which is the very first role Johnson ever had on the silver screen. (Variety)

The following actors joined Maggie Gyllenhaal in the star-studded drama The Lost Daughter, which has been adapted from the acclaimed novel by Elena Ferrante. Those cast members include Ed Harris, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Olivia Colman, Dakota Johnson, Peter Sarsgaard, Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. (Variety)

Actor Chris Pratt will reprise his role of Peter Quill in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder that will also find Natalie Portman back as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and new addition Christian Bale in a mysterious role. (Variety)
