Here is the long list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:
On December 28, the season finales of His Dark Materials on HBO at 9 PM.
The Hulu drama A Teacher will air its season finale online on December 29.
On December 30, the final 10 episodes (EVER) of Vikings will premiere on Amazon Prime online today, airing 10 months after the first half of its 6th and final season.
The 8-episode final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will air on Netflix on December 31.
On December 31, the high-stakes insider trading British drama Cleaning Up makes its US debut on Sundance Now. British actress Sheridan Smith stars as Sam Cook, a cleaner at Kramer Lowe, a financial company in Canary Wharf. Struggling to get by on her zero-hour contract with Xenco Clean, she is drowning in debt, addicted to gambling, and faces her ex-husband trying to get full-time custody of their two daughters. After overhearing a stockbroker who is being blackmailed into insider trading, she plunges herself into a shady world of finance.
The new BBC America comedy-thriller The Watch will get a sneak peek airing of its debut episode on AMC+ on December 31 before the official debut of back-to-back episodes on the network on January 3. The series follows the unlikely group of misfits, The City Watch, who are forced to find the guts to save the world, surprising even themselves in the process. The series pits trolls, werewolves, wizards and other improbable heroes against an evil plot to resurrect a great dragon which would lead to the destruction of life as they know it. The characters are inspired by Sir Terry Pratchett’s famous Discworld novels. The cast includes Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones), Lara Rossi (I May Destroy You) and Wendell Pierce (The Wire) [among others].
The third season of Cobra Kai will premiere online on Netflix on January 1 (the show was moved up a week by the streaming service).
On January 1, the Doctor Who special presentation Revolution of the Daleks will air on BBC America at 8 PM.
The superhero flick We Can Be Heroes,, which serves as a stand-alone sequel to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D will debut on Netflix on January 1. When alien invaders capture Earth’s superheroes, their kids must learn to work together to save their parents and the planet. The adults in the movie include Priyanka Chopra, Pedro Pascal, Christian Slater, Boyd Holbrook and Sung Kang with a lot of newcomer kids, including YaYa Gosselin.
On January 2, the Hallmark Channel movie Taking a Shot at Love will debut at 9 PM. Former professional ballet dancer Jenna (Alexa PenaVega) works with NHL star Ryan Cooper (Luke Macfarlane) to help him recover from an injury using ballet as therapy, and as they grow close, he helps her mend her injured heart. But when it’s time for Ryan to return to the ice and leave Jenna and her small, Connecticut town, they both must consider the paths they want to take and just maybe, love will find its way.
The season finale of Power Book II: Ghost will air on Starz on January 3 at 8 PM.
On January 3, the series debut of the BBC America fantasy The Watch will debut at 8 PM. Inspired by the characters created by Sir Terry Pratchett’s famous “Discworld” novels, the fantasy police procedural follows a group of misfit cops as they rise up from decades of helplessness to save their corrupt city from catastrophe. The misfit cops include the captain of The City Watch Sam Vimes (Richard Dorme from Game of Thrones), the last scion of nobility Lady Sybil Ramkin (Lara Rossi from I May Destroy You), the naïve but heroic Carrot (Adam Hugill from 1917), the mysterious Angua (Marama Corlett from Blood Drive) and the ingenious forensics expert Cheery (Jo Eaton-Kent) together with The Watch’s own idiosyncratic depiction of Death (Wendell Pierce from The Wire).
NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans will return from their winter breaks on CBS on January 3 at the special times of 8:30 and 9:30 PM respectively.
The season premiere of The Rookie will air at 10 PM on ABC on January 3.
Lastly, also on January 3, the original 2-hour film Elizabeth Is Missing will debut on PBS at 9 PM. Legendary actress Glenda Jackson (A Touch of Class) plays a woman in the grip of dementia, searching for her missing friend.
