Ratings: Winter TV (Tuesday, January 4)

It was a night filled with reality, comedies and repeats on the major networks last night along with new episodes from six Tuesday night dramas, five of which were returns from their winter breaks and the season premiere for one.

Here is how those six Tuesday night dramas fared in the overall ratings last night:

8 PM Show:
FBI (CBS) [NEW – Return] – 8.3 million viewers

9 PM Shows:
FBI: International (CBS) [NEW – Return] – 5.9 million viewers
This Is Us (FOX) [NEW – Season Premiere, Final Season] – 5.3 million viewers

10 PM Shows:

Movie of the Week Recommendation: Love’s Second Chance

On January 9, the UPtv movie Love’s Second Chance will debut at 7 PM.

When Rose (Gabrielle Christian), a passionate fashion stylist in her 30’s living in New York, inherits her grandmother’s vintage dress shop, she returns to her small hometown to take care of the store. As she’s contemplating closing the store for good, she runs into her charming high school crush, Cole Murphy (Cody Ryan Thompson), who convinces her to restore the store and help people in need that can’t afford new clothes.

After hesitantly agreeing, the two friends reminisce about their old feelings, and realize that the store is not the only that deserves a second chance, but so does their love.

Movie of the Week Recommendation: The Wedding Veil

The Hallmark Channel movie The Wedding Veil will debut on January 8 at 9 PM.

The first installment of a new trilogy which follows three longtime college friends (Lacey Chabert, Autumn Reeser and Alison Sweeney) who discover a mysterious, antique veil fabled to unite its bearer with her true love. After discovering a long-lost painting, museum curator Avery and new board member Peter investigate the artwork’s origins as they plan a gala to unveil it.

Last night’s primetime line-up on the major networks was filled with reality, comedies and repeats along with the return of three Monday night dramas from their winter breaks, the season premiere of one drama and the debut of a new drama.

A novelist (Danica McKellar) with writer’s block becomes the caretaker at an empty winter chateau to finish her book. The owner, a prince (Neal Bledsoe), suddenly shows up with his royal entourage, and her job as the caretaker includes taking orders from the royal group.

It’s been a long couple of weeks without ratings reports because of the holidays, but with the New Year comes new episodes of the primetime line-up on the major networks. Last night programming options included football, news, game shows, reality and some animation along with new episodes from four Sunday night dramas, one of which is now on a new night and time.

Movie of the Week Recommendation: The Tender Bar

The Amazon movie The Tender Bar will debut online on January 7.

This is an adaptation of the 2005 memoir by J. R. Moehringer, directed by George Clooney about a boy (played by Daniel Ranieri, Tye Sheridan and Ron Livingston throughout his life), seeking a replacement for his father, who disappeared shortly after his birth, who bonds with his uncle (Ben Affleck) and the patrons at a bar.

The cast includes Lily Rabe, Christopher Lloyd and Max Martini.
