Here is the long list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:
On September 27, the new 8-part series Suspect will debut on BritBox. This half-hour drama stars James Nesbitt as Detective Danny Naylor who turns up at a hospital for a routine ID check in the mortuary. However, he finds out that the person is his estranged daughter Christina. He refuses to accept that his daughter died by suicide, so he sets out on a mission to uncover the real details. We get to watch the investigation in “real time,” learning who Christina was connected to and figuring out that she wasn’t as innocent as he wanted to believe. The cast includes Richard E. Grant, Sam Heughan and Joely Richardson.
The new Hulu series Reasonable Doubt will debut online on September 27. The legal drama from executive producer and director Kerry Washington, the series focuses on Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) who you will judge for her questionable ethics and wild interpretations of the law…until you’re the one in trouble. Then you’ll see her for what she is: the most brilliant and fearless defense attorney in Los Angeles who bucks the justice system at every chance she gets. The cast includes Eugene Byrd, Michael Ealy and Sean Patrick Thomas.
On September 27, the spin-off series The Rookie: Feds will debut at 10 PM on ABC. The series stars Niecy Nash-Betts as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy. The cast includes Britt Robertson, Kevin Zegers, Frankie Faison, James Lesure and Felix Solis.
The second season premiere of La Brea will air on NBC on September 27 at 9 PM.
On September 28, the new Netflix movie Blonde will debut online. Based on the Joyce Carol Oates novel, this fictionalized movie chronicles the inner life of Marilyn Monroe (Ana de Armas). The ensemble cast includes Adrien Brody, Garret Dillahunt, Bobby Cannavale, Lucy DeVito, Sara Paxton, Julianne Nicholson, Scoot McNairy, Rebecca Wisocky and Xavier Samuel.
The second season of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will premiere online on Disney+ on September 28; while the season finale of Resident Alien will air on Syfy at 10 PM that same night.
On September 29, the new CBS drama So Help Me Todd will debut at 9:01 PM followed by the season premiere of CSI: Vegas at 10 PM. In So Help Me Todd, Marcia Gay Harden stars as razor-sharp, meticulous attorney Margaret Wright and Skylar Astin is Todd, her talented but scruffy, aimless son whom she hires as her law firm’s in-house investigator. As the black sheep of the well-heeled Wright family, Todd is a laid-back, quick-thinking, excellent former private detective who fell on hard times after his flexible interpretation of the law got his license revoked. Margaret’s penchant for excellence and strict adherence to the law is at complete odds with Todd’s scrappy methods of finding his way through sticky situations: by the seat of his wrinkled pants. When Todd inadvertently teams with his mother on a case, she’s surprised to find herself duly impressed by – and proud of – his crafty ability to sleuth out information with his charm and his wide-ranging tech savvy.
The long-in-waiting sequel Hocus Pocus 2 will debut online on Disney+ on September 30. The haunting sequel to the 1993 Halloween cult classic brings back the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker) for more comedic mayhem. It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve. The cast includes Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale and Sam Richardson.
On October 1, the Hallmark Channel movie Girlfriendship will debut at 8 PM. After a booking mix-up, Samara’s (Tamera Mowry-Housley) birthday getaway turns into a week-long retreat on Edisto Island, in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, where she and her two best friends (Lyndie Greenwood and Krystal Joy Brown) rediscover their passions, their purpose and romance.
The movie Home for Harvest is expected to debut on GAC Family on October 1 at 8 PM. A travel writer is surprised to be sent back to the hometown she left, heartbroken, years before. When she arrives, she’s confronted by romance – old and new. The film stars Brigette Kingsley and Landy Cannon.
On October 2, the new thriller series Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire will debut on both AMC+ and AMC at 10:06 PM. The series follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and Claudia’s (Bailey Bass) epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).
The season (possibly series) finale of Blood & Treasure will air online on Paramount+ on October 2.
On October 2, the Canadian drama Family Law will debut on The CW at 8 PM followed by the season premiere of Coroner at 9 PM. In Family Law, the series centers around Abigail Bianchi (Jewel Staite), a high-paid personal-injury lawyer who’s good at blaming others – particularly when it comes to her own problems. After Abby’s husband kicks her out of the family home because of her drinking, she goes on a bender, shows up drunk in court and pukes on a client. The law society’s punishment is swift. She’s suspended, fined, and can only practice law again if she finds a senior lawyer who is willing to take her on and mentor her for a one year probationary period. Only one man is willing to take that risk: Harry Svensson (Victor Garber), who runs the top family law practice in the city. He also happens to be Abby’s estranged father, who left Abby and her complicated mother for his secretary when Abby was seven. Now, not only does Abby have to work for her father, she also has to work with her half siblings: Daniel (Zach Smadu), from Harry’s subsequent marriage and Lucy (Genelle Williams), from Harry’s third marriage.
The UPtv movie A Country Romance will debut on October 2 at 7 PM. A woman finds romance with a handsome local when she returns home to help her father with the family vineyard. The movie stars Alix Angelis and Jonathan Bennett.
On October 2, the season premiere of The Equalizer will air on CBS at the special time of 8:30 PM followed by the debut of the new series East New York at 9:30 PM. In East New York, Amanda Warren will star as Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood, the newly promoted boss of the 74th Precinct, in East New York – a working-class neighborhood on the edge of Brooklyn in the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification. With family ties to the area, Haywood is determined to deploy creative methods to protect her beloved community with the help of her officers and detectives. But first, she has the daunting task of getting them on board, as some are skeptical of her promotion, and others resist the changes she is desperate to make. The ensemble cast includes Jimmy Smits, Richard Kind, Ruben Santiago Hudson and Kevin Rankin [among others].
The 11th season fall premiere of The Walking Dead will air online on AMC+ as well as on AMC at 9 PM on October 2.
Lastly also on October 2, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths will debut at 9 PM. Fraternal twins Nikki (Hunter King) and Nora (Rhiannon Fish) are forced back into each other’s lives when they inherit a detective agency. As they solve a murder, they realize their differences may be their greatest advantage.
