Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On December 21, the third season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will premiere on Amazon online; meanwhile that same day, Emily in Paris will premiere its third season on Netflix.

The VH1 movie Fuhgeddabout Christmas will debut on December 21 at 8 PM. When an Italian American superstar realizes her family is fed up with her workaholic ways, she gets help from her celebrity friends, Santa, and magical elves to give them the best Christmas ever. The ensemble cast includes Nick Cannon, Perez Hilton, Vincent Pastore, Vinny Guadagnino, Teresa Giudice, Justina Valentine, Conceited, Sway, Fetty Wap, Renee Graziano and DC Young Fly.

On December 22, the new Passionflix series The Secret Life of Amy Benson, based on the book Escaping Reality by author Lisa Renee Jones will debut its first two episodes online. After losing her entire family, Amy has spent several years on the run from unknown danger. When she meets Liam on a flight she has no idea her life is about to change, for his part Liam plans to help her whether she likes it or not.

The small screen adaptation of the box office film The Best Man: The Final Chapters will debut on Peacock online on December 22. This limited series will catch up with Harper (Tage Diggs), Robyn (Sanaa Lathan), Jordan (Nia Long), Lance (Morris Chestnut), Quentin (Terrence Howard), Shelby (Melissa De Sousa), Candace (Regina Hall) and Murch (Harold Perrineau) as relationships evolve and past grievances resurface in the unpredictable stages of midlife crisis meets midlife renaissance. The cast also includes Brandon Victor Dixon, Nicole Ari Parker and Ron Canada [among others].

Also on December 22, the holiday movie A Christmas Gift will debut online on BET+. In a failed attempt to cancel Christmas, the McKenzie’s find themselves ultimately navigating through unexpected guests, secrets, and revelations that will have a lasting effect on their families. The film stars Blue Kimble, Noree Victoria, Javon Johnson, Victoria Rowell, Aaron D Spears, Nadia Simms, Tiffany Snow, Marc Jones and Cayen Martin.

The new drama Three Pines will air its season finale online on Amazon on December 23.

On December 23, the holiday romance movie Saving Christmas Spirit will debut online on AMC+. An archaeologist (Ashley Newbrough) discovers the importance of letting a little festive wonder back into her life and finds both history and love. James Robinson co-stars.

Netflix will air a special presentation of the box office movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery online on December 23. Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) the only holdover. Instead of an old-money New England family, the mystery centers around Elon Musk-esque tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton), who invites a group of his longtime friends to his private Greek island in the midst of the pand emic. The ensemble cast includes Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Dallas Roberts, Natasha Lyonne, Ethan Hawke and Hugh Grant.

On December 24, the holiday movie The Snowball Effect will debut on UPtv at 7 PM. Rival meteorologists tracking a massive snowstorm in the town of Mistletoe must work together to get home in time for Christmas. Landon Moss and Anjali Khurana star.

The Call the Midwife Holiday Special will debut on PBS on December 25 at 9 PM. With Christmas approaching, the midwives move to their maternity clinic and are delighted when their first patient is a familiar face. Life in Poplar returns to normal after the tragic train crash, and everyone unites for a festive talent show.

On December 25, the Netflix movie Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical will air online. Based on the novel and stage musical, an extraordinary girl with a sharp mind and a vivid imagination takes a daring stand to change her story — with miraculous results. Meet Matilda. The cast includes Alisha Weir, Emma Thompson and Lashana Lynch.

The prequel limited series The Witcher: Blood Origin will debut online on Netflix on December 25. In an elven world 1,200 years before Geralt of Rivia, the worlds of monsters, men and elves merge to become one — and the very first Witcher arises. The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain.

Lastly also on December 25, the UPtv holiday movie Christmas in Wolf Creek will debut at 7 PM. When a runaway reindeer threatens the annual Christmas play, a struggling couple (Tim Rozon and Nola Martin) must work together to save Christmas for the town and each other.

Here are the news items for this past week:

RENEWAL/CANCELLATIONS

The Charlie Hunnam drama Shantaram has been cancelled after only one season by Apple TV+. (TV Line)

Yellowjackets has been renewed for season 3 way ahead of its upcoming second season. (TV Line)

NBC has given the reboot of Quantum Leap a second season renewal. (TV Line)

HBO Max has pulled the plug on the dramedy Minx despite the show having been renewed for a season 2 back in May. (TV Line)

Sanditon will come to a close after its upcoming 3rd season on PBS. The final season will air in the US on PBS starting on March 19. (Deadline and TV Line)

Starz has cancelled the series Step Up, the small screen adaptation of the box office franchise, after three seasons. (TV Line)

Netflix has pulled the plug on Warrior Nun after two seasons. (TV Line)

HBO/ HB) Max has pulled the plug on the period piece series The Nevers, basically cancelling the show halfway through its first season. (Variety)

HBO Max romantic anthology ‘Love Life’ has been cancelled after two installments, will not return for Season 3. (TV Line)

ORDERED TO SERIES

CBS has given a series order to the new drama The Never Game that will star This Is Us hunk Justin Hartley. The series is based on the best-selling novel by Jeffery Deaver. Hartley will play Colter Shaw, a survivalist who roams the country as a “reward seeker,” using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries all while contending with his own fractured family. The cast also will include Mary McDonnell (Major Crimes and Battlestar Galactica) and Robin Weigert (Jessica Jones and Sons of Anarchy). (TV Line)

TV CASTING NEWS

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power alum Joseph Mawle has landed a role in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923. He will play Captain Shipley, the captain of a British cargo ship, who has seen a lot during his years at sea. (Variety)

Robert De Niro will star in and executive producer the crime drama Mr. Natural. The series follows Louis “Mr. Natural” Baron (De Niro), who, fresh off a 30 year-stint in federal prison, hits Palm Springs driven by revenge, a dream to reunite with his stolen family and a dangerous scheme to grab a taste of the Salton Sea’s lithium billions. (Variety)

Jack Dylan Grazer (from the Shazam! franchise) has joined the cast of The Spiderwick Chronicles, which is in the works at Disney+. Based on the book series by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, the series will follow the Grace family as they leave New York to move to Michigan into their ancestral home, The Spiderwick Estate. Twin brothers Jared and Simon, along with their sister Mallory and mom Helen, discover that magical creatures like fairies, ogres, trolls, boggarts and more are all real and hiding among us.” Grazer will provide the voice of Thimbletack, a boggart, who lives in the walls of the Spiderwick Estate, a hundreds of years old, Thimbletack is still a teenager amongst his kind, a mischief-maker with an explosive temper. He could be a great help to the Grace children…if only he could learn to control his own larger than life emotions. (Variety)

Eric Szmanda will reprise his role as Greg Sanders during the latter half of the current second season of CSI: Vegas. (TV Line)

Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Ashley Madekwe (Revenge) have joined the cast of the second season of the Peacock drama Dr. Death, which will star Edgar Ramirez and Mandy Moore. This upcoming season will tell the true story of Paolo Macchiarini (Ramirez), a charming surgeon, renowned for his innovative operations that earn him the nickname ‘Miracle Man.’ When investigative journalist Benita Alexander (Moore) approaches him for a story, the line between personal and professional begins to blur, changing her life forever. Kirby will play Dr. Nathan Gamelli, a cardiovascular surgeon working at a world class hospital in Sweden while Madekwe will play Dr. Ana Lasbrey, a doctor at the institute. (Variety)

Disney+ has given a greenlit to a small screen adaptation of Witch Mountain that will star Bryce Dallas Howard in the lead role. The series will have a modern take on the franchise, following two teens that develop strange abilities and discover their sleepy suburb may not be as idyllic as it seems. (Variety)

Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing) will play Carole King in the upcoming film adaptation of the stage musical Beautiful. (Variety)
